Hi Dorthea,

I suggest you set up a "visitor" account on your computer for your daughter and other guests. When they change settings and options, it will be for their account, and not yours! That way your settings will survive the visitors. Also, add a password to your account to keep stray fingers out of it.

Hi my dear Dorthea!
We kayaked at our favorite spot that is close to our home...Lake Valley Reservoir. It is a PG&E lake that is just off of Yuba Gap Road and Highway 80. Yuba Gap is the exit. Then one turns left and immediately right on a paved road that heads East parrallel to Interstate 80. In a short distance the road splits and you turn left again. The road heads out to the reservoir.
Hope they get there - it is wonderful - eagles perched on the dead trees at the source of the lake.

That is terrible about your friends loss. I hate for people to go through long illnesses, but a sudden death seems just as bad to the ones left behind.
Had to think of what I would do and I would get busy. People are going to be coming by, clean out the fridge, chase the imaginary dust bunny, make a list of the items that will be needed, if someone comes by, make sure paper and pen are handy...Guess what I am saying, busy work. Something mundane, but will keep the mind occupied. I am sure, it is hard to function right now, since it just happened yesterday. Your friendship right now is most appreciated by your friend.

I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's husband's passing. I think Karen's advice above is good, keep busy and just be there for her. Thinking of you.

I'm such a newbie that I'm posting this message twice. The first time, my reply to you went on my own Page.

I have a piano in my home and play it now and then. Unfortunately, I don't play well. But I enjoy playing easy versions of pretty tunes. I'm sure it must be fun to part of a group of musicians playing together to create beautiful music. One thing I do every New Years Day is watch (and record) the concert from Vienna. Do you watch that?

OK, here's an idea for the neighborhood cats etc., take bamboo skewers and stick them all over that raised bed so the cats have no place to lie down.

I can sympathize with your SIL, Dorthea. Many people turn into basket cases when faced with surgery.
