I agree with your comments, CG, re 'spreading the light'. One of the criticisms of Buddhism is that is just naval-gazing... which it can be if the teachings, especially the ones on compassion, are not put into practice as well as the meditations. The 'peace of nirvana' is seen as a dangerous zone from the point of view of Mahayana Buddhism.

But even so, the clip can help people think beyond their own limited perspectives.

Hmmm.. have I missed out on a party? being a Buddhist nun does not necessarily exclude one from parties! (non-alcoholic apple cider, of course!)

CG - I HAVE managed to get on site a bit recently, and I have certainly been keeping late hours. We have a new textbook this year, and I have five classes of the same subject. Between writing new lessons daily (with a PowerPoint presentation for almost each day) and giving quizzes and tests that are NOT multiple-choice, it is very time consuming. But I am having a good year except for the time constraints.
Thanks for the note! And Gus HAS changed clothes finally. The Student Council had plans to get him done up last month, but the afternoon they were coming over it rained, and things got hectic after that.

CG, Jamie had the same suggestion. Coolmath seems just right. I'll be seeing my grandson on Wednesday and giving him some one-on-one. I used to teach this level myself, but that was a looooooong time ago and computers can make maths a much more lively experience.

A great fall day here, so I thought I'd wander over for a visit and drop off a bottle of Cave Spring riesling for you to have with dinner. I'm thinking of throwing a Sudoku party on Nov. 21, my mom's birthday. Everyone can come with their favourite food and drink a toast to those we've loved and lost. Think that'll go over? Anyway, enjoy your week--won't be long until we're strapping on snowshoes, lacing up skates or buckling up the ski boots.

Hey, Greg. I thought about you for a solid twenty minutes today, chuckling the whole time, and I have to tell you about it. I've been waiting for you to pop up on the site, but, since you haven't, I'll chat with you here! I followed a car all the way across town that had a bumper sticker with a Canadian flag. I couldn't see what was written on the sticker until I finally got close enough. Next to the flag it pronounced, "Canada Kicks A$$"! It cracked me up, and you kept flashing into my mind as I trailed the car! Um ... do you have one of those stickers on your car, too?? :)

Hello Greg, and thank you for thinking of me, and for the (very gentle) shove. Haven't seen you on for the last few days, so hope you are well. I don't very often get on the first page, and often don't even get to read all of easy, as I need to be up at 5.20am on weekdays, but often post on the other pages. As this is usually later in the day I am mostly following you, Anne and Rosemary around. I used to catch up a bit at weekends, but now my son has moved back home, and I rarely even get near the computer there!!

Hi Greg, thanks for your visit to my page. I agree that it is a beautiful Joan Baez song. Unfortunately I can't check out your Youtube today as I am at work - I will come back when I'm at home.
It is great to be finished my studies, although it was only one semester so I can't complain too much. I don't start my new job until February, so plenty of time to rest and relax, and hopefully a bit of Sudoku time. Cheers

Thanks for the welcome Greg. I will have to save the yummy choccie delight until next week. I hope it keeps well. I have put on 5 kgs now from all the yummy food I have been given. I wish I was one of those people who could eat whatever they want continuously. (I used to be b4 the 3rd child .
My only problem now is spending too much time chatting instead of vaccumming etc.
Cheers,
Sharlene

Hi CGreg. How's life in Ontario? Any snow yet? They keep predicting it here. We've had a few sprinkles but nothing has stayed yet. It was a pretty good day for our Remembrance Day ceremony in Grand Forks today. A little chilly but we had sun. How is Kelly doing in Kelowna? All settled in, I hope. Loved the Roberta Flack YouTube, another one of my favourites. You do pick good ones. Take care.

Greg - I went to a reunion concert of The Seekers in Perth just a few years ago. I think they've had a couple of "final" tours. They were brilliant still.

Greg...thanks for stopping by. I share your concerns about global warming and maybe the Perito Glacier is one that is watched closely as it has a rather consistent breaking off pattern. This glacier is in the southern part of Argentina near Chili and last performed in March of '06 and each 2-3 years before that as long as it has been recorded which apparently is back as far as 1917.
