Hi Greg,

It's still baseball season for some of us in the USA. Particularly the New England Nation rooting for their Red Sox.

BTW, that is a beautiful picture of Ottawa.

Hi Greg! I have not been on the Sudoku site in over a week now, even to do the puzzles!! That is a world record for me as usually (when I am not traveling!) I had been checking the site numerous times a day in between other activities! I am really busy tonight getting ready to leave on another trip tomorrow. Jane from St. Simons has invited Rob & me to visit there this weekend. She has made all kinds of nice plans including dinner at her house, tennis, & a Brunswick Stew Festival (Stewbilee - clever, huh!) in Brunswick! On Sun. we'll drive north to Savannah to pick up Celia from Toronto at the airport & take her with us to our beach house at Fripp Island, SC. I just couldn't leave without answering your nice note on my page. I will never completely leave the site because I will always wonder what's going on with the many wonderful people I have met there -including you! I just hope I don't get so far behind that I lose track of what's happening. I am trying to send notes now & then to personal pages & not spending so much time on EASY. Maybe you could do a summary of the week's major events now & then just like they do the mini reports in the newspaper on the soap operas! It looks like your page is Sudoku Central with 1443 pages!! You're such a good guy - thanks for writing to me. Good bye for a little while........

"Lots of time" is definitely a relative term these days. This has been an unbelievable year so far. I have never had less time or felt more worn out in my entire career. Most days begin before 6 and often end at midnight or later. I am getting to old to do that anymore.
BUT, I have a great group of kids this year - that is the only thing saving me.
The family is doing well - m-i-l is slowly fading, but that is to be expected. Jeanie is getting more time for herself since we put her mother in the Alzheimer's facility, so that is good.
Two kids at home right now with a wedding next June!
Thanks for writing - I am soon off to read myself to sleep.

Hi Greg. Do I get some sort of kudos by comments getting to a third page? Still, that's nowhere near 37 pages. Does this mean that my life, too is meaningless?

I write about all sorts of things that affect people and mostly for the general public who might be interested about what Buddhism might have to say about their dilemmas. I've addressed relationships, pain, addiction as well as the usual meditation techniques (for non-meditators). But it has been a while since I looked directly at stress and depression, so thanks for the idea.

My own interest right now is looking at the similarities and differences between the Buddhist teachings on emptiness and the Christian mystical aim of becoming one with the Divine Spirit.

Thanks for the help with my photos. I'll have to wait until my oldest daughter comes over to use my computer and ask what program she used for posting. Crystal uses win, pro. at work and sometimes we can figure how some of these things work, but I sure miss my brother. He work for HP making chips.

Hey Greg, good to be back home, thanks for the message and taking onto my third page!! Well, I have to admit that I was cheering for England , firstly, because we were outnumbered in the pub (rugby supporters are BIG GUYS), secondly, my daughter lives and works in England and loves it there and lastly SA stands a better chance against England in the final. Playing France in their country would be a difficult one! Take care

ppssssttt greg..... is it snowing up there yet? I know you want it to hold off for awhile. It's raining buckets here. Rain to snow conversion, we would have about 18 inches of heavy wet snow on the ground already. No end in sight, which makes the kids restless. Talk to ya soon.

Things on my end are okay. My short lived employment has ended and now I'm back to raising my kids. Looking forward to winter and the snow. More for my kids than for me, as my poor green machine only got about 65 miles on it last year. Take Care, and I'll catch ya soon!

More on close encounters with wild-life - such as you with your bear. I have experienced several encounters that leave me with lasting memories, and sometimes I am also left with the feeling the animal, or whatever, has deliberately introduced itself to me. (eg with Golden-Eagle; Red Kangaroo; Wasps and Butterflies; Red-backed Spider; Mukadah (tropical centpede); Scorpion; Cobra; Sting-Ray; etc). Of course a close encounter with a 'dangerous' animal always leaves an impact, but it is the curcumstances surrounding the situations that interests me. They generally only do this when I am travelling alone. I have never been harmed during any such encounter.

Thanks Greg for your kind thoughts on the death of my husband, Geoff. Our Sudoku family is a great one to have at any time and its a family of choice. It's an honour to be a member, to have so many friends across the world who can share in our good times, have a laugh with us and also be there for us when we need guidance, comfort or strength when times are tough. Thank you for being a part of that family. Thanks for the strength. Lynne

G'day Greg, I knew you would be one of the nice people to send me a message about Liz and you didn't let me down. Thanks, mate. She is getting along very well, but taking her time. It's more or less left up to her how she manages her new implant although she does have to attend a weekly session for about 6 weeks so it can be fine-tuned for her. It must be hard to adapt to as she is happy to turn it off at the end of the day and have a bit of "peace", she says. All this noise all the time must be overwhelming. She has made remarks about some noises that really irritate her and one of them is just the rustling of a paper bag. She has never really heard this before and she says it's just a horrible sound. It's all going to take a lot of getting used to and it's probably a good thing we live in a quiet country town and not the noise-polluted city. Cheers and best wishes, Kate

for the compliment on my photographs taken in London! Your question on the Currie Cup: It is a South African Provincial Championship that started in 1889. The first trophy was presented in 1892, donated by Sir Donald Currie. Extremely popular! Our neighbour is Fourie du Preez, also the scrum half for SA team and the photograph was taken at his house after our local team, BLUE BULLS shared the cup with the Cheetahs from another province. Tomorrow is the final in the current series and unfortunately our local team did not make it to the final - BUT the reason is - too many of our players are in the SA national team!!!! Take care, Helena
