Hi Angie. How are you? Not sure if Col told you but I was in hospital for a few days in January. Just got home and my SIL came down and she had a nasty coughy cold and of course I got it!!!
It is our 25th Anniversary in March and so Jeremy and I are off to Phuket for a holiday. My first trip outside Oz!!!
How is your wonderful daughter doing with her art?
Wendy
PS Happy Valentine's day.

Hi, Angie! I'm in the process of updating the cookbook and have a question about your Thai Meatball recipe. Your ingredient list indicates 1/2 cup long grain rice, plus extra rice to roll the meatballs in. Is the 1/2 cup rice to be cooked first and mixed in with the meat mixture or cooked separately to be served as a side dish for the meatballs? Also, I am assuming the extra rice that the meatballs are to be rolled in is pre-cooked. Please advise. Thanks!!! Jane

I've got another question, Angie. In your salmon and rigati recipe, you say to use one packet rigati (or other pasta). What size packet? In the US, commercial pasta usually comes in 8 oz. or 16 oz. boxes and thought perhaps there might be more than one size in Australia as well. Thanks! Jane

Hi Angie... love your cube! VERY clever.

Having said previously that I'd cancel everything [work included] to attend Ian's bash I will need to confirm definately a couple of days before hand. Have spent far too much on paraphernalia for this upcoming wedding [mastercard is maxed $$$] and if it is my only opportunity to work for the week I may have to take it.
That said pencil me in because I'm hoping to stockpile a little moola before then and I am so looking forward to it.

Angie, Thanks for the welcome! I tried to re-post the fifth lesson, but wasn't able to upload anything else that day for some reason. Here 'tis (I hope):

Lesson 5/5
A turkey was chatting with a bull. 'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,' sighed the turkey, 'but I haven't got the energy.' Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull. 'They're packed with nutrients.' The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally, after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story:
Bull s**t might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

This ends the 3 minute management course, now get back to work.

Angie,
What fun visiting your page. Emily is a beauty, and what lovely form she has as a dancer. I studied ballet for several years, but quit not long after being instructed to get toe shoes. At 16 I was 5'6", 130 lb, and was a 32DD. I told our instructor -- a former dancer with the ABC on track to prima ballerina status, but forced into early retirement by varicose veins -- if she got her jollies from seeing a cow on point, she'd have to rely on someone else! I ultimately found my place in the theater, but have not been active in that for years. Time to return....

I started in theater in high school playing Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker, and gained a minor reputation in Baton Rouge. Acted in local theater during college, until work & school precluded committing to rehersal time, when I moved backstage. A wonderful tech director put me to work building sets with him, teaching me to use power tools, and WOW, that was all she wrote. Five house remodels later, I'm still in his debt! Now that the kids are grown and gone, I'm thinking about going back to local theater, either on- or backstage.
Baton Rouge had a fabulous arts community. The Fuchs -- he a symphonic violinist and she a ballerina -- were German Jewish refugees who met in New York. When her career was sidelined, they decided to relocate to a community to which they could make a contribution with high quality music and dance. He conducted the Baton Rouge symphony for over 30 years, and Elisa was "director" of the Baton Rouge Ballet Company. Not much of a company, mind you, but we did NOT have recitals, Elisa would sneer, we gave performances! Theater community was equally blessed by a New York director who wanted to develop community little theater, and for a couple of decades, we had the largest theater, based on annual subscriptions, in the U.S.! My mother, who had studied drama with Lee Strasbourg in New York, returned to Baton Rouge, and became active in the theater community, and my fate was sealed, however briefly. Thanks for letting me take this trip back 35 years to happier memories of childhood!
