Here are some TOPP quotes from Richard Bach:

“The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.”

“Can miles truly separate you from friends? If you want to be with someone you love, aren't you already there?”

Julie, you made me smile. I have read a lot of Richard Bach's books.
Here am I complaining about my car when others have lost everything. Better news about the car, it was not the crankshaft(was dark when the mechanic looked at it last night) but the harmonic balancer. Will be towed tomorrow to my mechanic near home and fixed. Still will cost $$$$$'s but not as much.
Great idea about the SA Charity Cyn/Zusy, at least we know the dollars won't be chewed up in administration costs.
Love and Hugs to you all.

You guys are just awesome.
Paul is one of the lucky ones where he has Judy's place to go to. There are 7.500 people displaced and living in tin sheds with 35deg temps in high humidity without air-con. Even though they have lost most things, others have lost businesses, livestock, farm equipment and much much more. 6 people have died as a result.Because he was away, they have 3 days worth of clothing at least. So do not worry about them.
Today, Paul and his girlfriend were MUCH calmer and ready to start again. I think you go into shock. You could not get in to see how high the water has been, and you pray it won't be bad. It could have been worse,if the house floated away.
Once they had been there this morning, they could prioritize what they needed and knew what damage was done. Seeing it,helped.
When Paul was really down,I kept mentioning, major disasters that happen all the time and how people pick up and move on.
Cyclones, tornadoes, fires, earthquakes, tsunamis etc. He did seem to listen and realize that the world had not come to an end and others are in the same predicament with him being one of the luckier ones.
He has been trying to download a youtube video but it is taking forever.
When it is done I will send you a link to see our investment property and his house.
In the backyard is a pool somewhere. The fridge has floated on its side out the door ???
The kids have 3 pet snakes in a tank. The sideboard they where on, had floated away, and amazingly, the tank had fallen onto the lounge which was feet away. It was balancing with half the tank full of water, and the snakes were curled up the other end. How amazing is that.
Off to see if the video has downloaded.

Paul had just picked up Judy's new fridge. That was the one that had turned over outside. I did not know that until Greg told me just now.Pauls was an old one which he was about to replace,so he has lost both.

The water had gone down when this video was taken. You can see the high tide mark on the outside and inside. Things are floating all over the place. They have lost 2 cars and 3 motor bikes also. Oh well, they are OK.
To those in the Northern Hemisphere,we see similar situations that you deal with also. The terrible cold weather and disasters are world wide.
Much love to you all.

Cyn...you are so right. The boys said, I have lost this, or that, and Paul told them, it will be in the mud on the floor of your room.
As Paul comes to grips with it, he realizes, that the boys have many issues to deal with too. The news tonight, showed their school underwater and they were intent on picking out landmarks that they must have found devastating.I told them, the adults will work at fixing things by the time they go back to school in 2 weeks. The water will go down and they will have uniforms, books etc.
As we looked at pix of each room in the flooded house, I made a comment, that I thought the toilet had overflowed. The 3 of them really laughed, and that was nice to hear.
The army have arrived to help with the clean up.
All, IS,ok with us.
Catch up tomorrow if time permits.

Nola - I looked at the video (couldn't hear much, even with the volume high). It was so sad to see what was someone's (Paul's) home in such a state. I can't begin to imagine how they must feel. But they are all safe and he has a place to go to, - as you say, some haven't. I would still like to help him unless you and he prefer I donate through the usual channels. Was that the Bundy East School that the boys went to which is under water? I have a young friend whose son goes there and is devastated by his school going under. Luckily for him, their house stayed high and dry.
I know other people who live at Bargara. Luckily for them they only had minor damage, a bit of guttering, branches and debris - but nothing structural. However they did see a caravan go flying down their street in the tornado!

Nola, I could not access the video link, but that happens for me a lot with links put on this site. My heart goes out to you all and I have seen the results of flooded houses so I understand the mess. The silt will be bad because the water was there for some time. Some of the clothes, sheets and towels should wash. Although they may not come back quite as white!(Belinda still has sheets with rust marks from when we stuffed them into her leaking gutters and wet them with muddy dam water. There was a bush fire which passed over her home).
As things dry out and are washed they may rescue more than they realise now.
A hard day for me as Sharon would have been 45 today.
I have not spoken to Laura since Monday so not sure how she is getting on with her chicken pox.

Nola, I read and then checked your link and here again words don't say enough....however, I'm glad to hear that the new day and viewing of the mess has given Paul renewed hope, and along with your encouragement, he realizes and is grateful for the blessings he has, a place to stay and his family is safe...as I said before...things are replaceable, life isn't. Peace. ♥

I have just finished closing the deal for my new car and will be taking delivery on Friday afternoon. I got a Honda Civic coup...and a great deal. The car is acting as a new gained independence after almost a year of no car...of course I was unable to drive due to hospitalization for about six of those months, but its been 55 years since I'd had a car until the accident...Oh well, I will soon have wheels again...I'm happy and excited.
Take care all and if today is a good one, copy it tomorrow, if not, you get to try for a better one the next day...Peace.♥

Going to be a 'warm' day, well 'Hot' really, 35C (heating up to 39C on Saturday), the Easterlies are blowing a gale this morning.
Living in the Foothills, means when the Easterlies come in.. it comes over the hills and 'WhoosHes it way down and across the plains!!!
First thing in the morning it is quite a cool breeze, by mid morning Hot Wind.
We Open up the House and let the COOL in, as soon as there is a hint of warmth, quickly shut the house up and turn AC on!!

It's good to know that the stroke hasn't dulled your wit Suzy..
'Made in America from Australian ingredients'.

Broni... my thinking 'how did it know'.. cars seem to like doing that!

Nola..saddened but not surprised to hear of Paul's loss. Thank goodness HE is ok. Hope there wasn't too much irreplaceable stuff that cannot be salvaged. What is in our hearts and our memories is never lost and that is what counts.. the rest is all just icing on the cake.

Good ideas about the gift cards.. particularly the fine tuning.. what is available in Bundy and NOT flooded..

Where would we be without resilience.. it is good they have Judy's place to go to.. strange how the wheels of fortune turn.. Judy is indeed paying forward to you for all of your care with a dry roof for Paul.. Who are we to question anything.

Tomorrow I am taking flowers to my dearest friend Judy's graveside. I haven't returned there since her funeral.. in fact have only passed through Echuca once since then..when we took mum's ashes to Deni. I will probably think of you Nola after our recent conversation about our 'Judy's' the other day.

Viv, your sea foam made our news yesterday. That is soo strange. I remember photos once before of such, back some time ago. anyone know what makes the foam? Would be interested to know.

Nola, I am so saddened to hear of all that Paul has lost in the flood, and at the same time happy he and family are safe, and have a dry roof over their heads, with air conditioning. I do hope they can recover more than seems possible at first glance. Here, a company was selling T shirts that were dyed with mud, as a new fashion statement. Perhaps Bundy should declare the same, mud dyed as a fashion statement and expand to linens, towels, undies??

Mama, congrats on the new car. I hope it gives years of good service, and you regain your independence with it.

Broni, happy to hear that the car will not be as expensive to repair as first thought.

June, Hugs, dear, anniversaries of any type are hard.

Today we had a line of storms with severe weather go through here. I heard several tornado warnings for counties surrounding me, but did not catch local news to see if any damage was done. I was out in the hardest rain, yuck, it had to hit just as they were ready to take me to appointment. Luckily there is a drive here at EP that is under cover, and our bus driver brought the bus under to load me on. At the location, got me off the bus, again under a canopy, so I managed to keep dry. Luckily the worse of the rain was over by time I was ready to come home, and because I was in an interior room for my appointment, I did not see what was going on. So I missed the storm, mostly.

Hugs to each of you, thoughts and prayers to all who are displaced by the storms and floods. Till later.

Hi, Everyone! Just popping in for a quick hello.

Nola, how awful to see all the water in the house (and a blue sky outside). Hopefully they will find things that are salvageable and that all is not lost! Of course, a LOT of hard work is ahead. Fortunately they have a place to stay through the clean up and repairs! I'm so glad Paul and family are all safe!

Broni, hopefully the car repairs won't be too expensive!

Suzy, I hope your recovery is coming along! Be diligent about your therapy.

June, thinking of you today and hoping that happy memories can be shared! Congrats to Belinda on her dressage wins! Hoping Laura isn't too uncomfortable with her chicken pox!

Mama, I'm very excited for you for the purchase of a new car!

Bean, safe travels and enjoy the wedding!

Rolanda, I hope you didn't get too much sand in the new house!

Good wishes for all I forgot to mention!

It's now past midnight, and the alarm is set for 6 a.m., so I'm about to head to bed. Sending an abundance of {{{{{{ H U G S }}}}}}, prayers, healing vibes and positive thoughts for everyone!

This (typing) is my only therapy at the moment Julie. I'm trading phone calls with the physio place. They've referred me on to a different person who can help with my 'thinking' as well as my hands but it means another day has gone by...

Echo tomorrow. Hubby asked for a couple of hours off to take me and they gave him the whole day as carers leave. Hopefully we can turn my craft room back into a craft room... the cat destroyed it and it only ever got half 'repaired'.

When we saw the doc the other day hubby got a shock when he said the results of the ultrasound would determine whether or not i needed vascular surgery. I don't know why he thought they were doing it... Which remind me, no call from the doc to say they have the results.. I'll have to call tomorrow now.

Suzy, thinking of you as you go for your echo today. Hope the trip is without difficulty. How nice your hubby got the day off to go with you. do keep us informed of results as soon as you know. We all care. I do hope you soon get your appointments with physio, I am like you, do not need to be wasting days you could be working on this.

Julie, good to see you on 'early' enough to be able to read and comment. boy you do keep a busy schedule, I get tired just reading all you do.

This afternoon I went down to a movie Jan our activities director, had for us residents. We have a huge screen TV and DVD player, so she rents movies she thinks we might enjoy. We have a professional grade popcorn popper, the kind on a little cart that can be rolled about, it makes the best popcorn. They save all the leftover paper cups plates, bowls, saucers from events to use for movie day, and they bring in colas too. Today's movie was 'What to Expect when You are Expecting' it was cute. I did manage to stay the 2 hours this time, but those chairs are not the best, left me very achey.

Heidi, we had sunny skies today and weather a bit chill, but not drastically cold. Last night some areas north of us were getting sleep, none here though. Hope your weather warms up, I know you say your cows and calves do not like the cold mud.

Suzy, more fires rearing up and perhaps near Gail? thanks for checking to make sure her area was not included, and for letting us know. I do hope those fires are soon under control.
Hopefully soon I will have my wheels, and that would be much more comfortable to sit in. I should know something in about a month, if it was approved by insurance or not.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till tomorrow.
