Morning all. First coffee of the day consumed and enjoyed.
I have had a wander out to the veggie garden to have an inspection, all is good there, browsed the newest Avon catalogue and thought it was time for a rest, so here I am. An exhausting morning's krow, I am sure you will agree!
Yesterday, hubby, D#3 and I went to the nearest shopping centre because D#2 asked me to do her a favour. This favour cost me $30 mind you, but I WILL get reimbursed, maybe not in this lifetime...
While we were there, you guessed it, we did a gail :)

Yes, Gail, that was an exhausting morning's krow. Poor thing. How you push yourself.

Good evening everyone. I have a favor to ask. I am sure everyone has heard of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday. Please keep the people of Haiti in your prayers. The school I am at has a large Haitian population and many of my students, and co-workers, are still waiting to hear about their family.

June, I have a zoo and a farm on FB but have managed to not spend much time on them. I started out really aggressive with my zoo, but now just check it occasionally. I only started the farm to help my friends who needed neighbors and gifts.

Morning folks...
Brenda it is illegal to store grey water in anything other than a holding tank for immediate use [within 24 hours]. It is also illegal to use kitchen or water from hand basins. When you have a permanent grey water system connected you have to sign a document of compliance. Not sure what the penalty is. The water from the kitchen , in particular, holds too much oil and fat which coats the soil particles and results in the soil becoming hydrophobic. Not exactly your aim...

I'm off to see my Mum this morning. I like to go on a Thursday because a couple sing for them every Thursday morning and it seems to make them all happy.
Then I'm off to the movies to see 'The Lovely Bones' - anyone seen it? I haven't read the book but asked Karin to get it for my birthday.
Ciao for now!
Tami - my thoughts are also with the people of Haiti - it seems to be a place rife with natural disasters.

Hello! Good Evening, SA9A members! I hope everyone arrived in the New Year healthy and happy! I see I have nearly 30 pages to read and get caught up with everyone.
I'm sorry to have been absent for the past week or two. We have now returned from a family gathering for the holidays, followed by a family trip to Disney World. The entire time in Florida was planned by our SIL, so we were not able to sneak away and try to find fellow Sudoku-ites. I guess it's just as well. The temperatures were mostly in the 30's and 40's F while we were there, and flu was being passed around. In spite of that, I think all of us enjoyed ourselves - even the year-and-a-half old grandie.

I decided to opt for a snowman. I'm sorry he's sporting holiday lights. I guess I don't have any "New Year" avatars.
(Yes, I know that's late, also. Maybe I'll be caught up by Valentine's Day?)

Spent the morning scrapping the flaking paint of the kitchen at my daughter's. What a mess as most of the paint came away. I have plastered up most of the rough bits and will sand then paint later today. I am having a rest while she is getting lunch. (she did take some turns up the ladder) Laura was supposed to be sweeping up the loose paint but I think she just helped spread it around the rest of the house.
I have a hose connected to my washing machine and just let it run under the trees or on the lawn. I have been doing that for over 40 years.
My daughter runs her washing (and shower) water into those large plastic buckets and uses it to flush the toilet. It keeps the toilet cleaner than using the muddy water from the dam!

Hi, Heidi! Thanks for asking. The knees are not quite as swollen as before, but still like to be "sluggish" when I ask them to change position. I worked on exercises while we were away and still have range of motion from 0* to just over 120* of bend. (That's quite a bit better than I could do with my original knees prior to surgery.)
How are you and everything at Surreal Farm?

Hi, June! You sound VERY busy! You certainly seem to be adept at many things! I hope you're not too disappointed with Laura's sweeping. Isn't she just 4? I'm sure she felt quite pleased to be included in the work - even if it ended up making more!

I'm going to try to get caught up on some reading. I haven't decided if I will work backward from here or forward from the last page I visited - somewhere around 35 or so. I think it will make more sense to me if I go back and start from there.

Julie, good luck catching up on all the reading. Glad to hear that your knees are doing better. I think you brought all that Illinois cold with you when you came south.
Cyn, let me know how the movie is. I saw a commercial for "the lovely bones" and it looks interesting.

Good Night, Tami! I'm sorry I missed you! But I don't think we brought the cold to Florida, as so many other states were also experiencing the cold! I blame the weather forecasters!
I have just finished reading page 44. Heidi, I am SOOO sorry to hear about the finches. I hope that one occurrence was the only one and I don't read more pages and find more disappointments for you!

Heidi, I have continued to read. I'm so sorry to hear that Melony decided it was her time to go. It's so fortunate, but so difficult, that animals have the sense that they do. Melony was fortunate to find you and Surreal Farm for her final years! I am now up to page 48 and Lucky and Chili had vet appointments. I know you said that it gets much worse. I'm hoping you're referring to Melony's trip over the Rainbow Bridge - and not even more sad times. I also hope that the bad stuff for this year is over for you now!

Hi, Suzanne! Hi, Nola! it was so nice to see you visiting. Unfortunately, I missed both of you - and - you missed each other! Oh, well! We all can read, and reading each other's comments is almost as good as being there when they were typed.
Hooray - I only have about a dozen pages to go!

I have just read page 51. There was good news from Bean that she is feeling better and the new meds seem to be working. Miz T and hubby Al were enjoying their central heat since Handy Al installed the new heater fan (or some important part). Nola had a chance to pop in before heading off for course/class work. Brenda reports cold and snow. MizT and Tami report cold weather even in the south. Vici is still wishing for snow.
Heidi has reported that poor Lucky had been having seizures for more than 8 hours and the vet said he would have to be put to sleep. Heidi, you have certainly had more than your share already this year! I hope this is the last of it, but almost dread reading the next 10 pages.

Have now been reading about Ken's upcoming trip to Vietnam, Singapore & Myanmar. June, I didn't know about your trip planned to Egypt. I hope all goes well!
Viv, so sorry to hear about John and your father-in-law. They'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Sending positive vibes!
Nola, sending positive thoughts, prayers and vibes for your sister.
June, sending more of those positive thoughts, prayers and vibes for your friend.
Heidi, sending loads of hugs and positive vibes for you and all the residents (regardless of number of legs) of Surreal Farm! Hang in there, Sweetie!
CynB, I think your son's reaction to the racetrack driving is quite typical! I know my hubby would love to do something like that!
Viv, Happy First Birthday to Kira on the 17th of January.
Great news to hear that Gail has returned home and Bill is doing well!

Happy Belated 9th Birthday to CynB's grandie Madeline on January 9th! (Our first grandie is also Madeline, called Maddie, but is only 4.)
Happy Belated 19th Birthday to Brenda's Emily on January 11. You probably won't believe it, but our second grandie is also Emily, often called Emmi. She's not yet 2.
Heidi, thanks for sharing your description of the send-off of Lucky! We know how much you will miss him and Melony!
Vici, I hope you are feeling better after your nasty fall!
