Good advice, Gail! I'm fading fast. Just waiting for a phone call that hubby's flight (delayed about 70 minutes) has arrived. Then he has at least a 90 minute drive to his final destination. He'll probably call when he gets there, as well. I had planned to stay up for both phone calls, but that darn 70-minute delay has complicated matters!

I'm a bit concerned, as the car rental location was scheduled to close about 15 minutes ago. His plane should have landed by now. I hope they waited so he could pick up the car!

Woo Hoo! Thanks for setting up that TOPP for me, Gail!

Another Woo Hoo! Hubby just called & his flight arrived on time for him to pick up the rental car. Now he just has the drive. He said he'd call when he gets to the motel in about 1 1/2 hours. It will probably be nearly 2:00 here by then. Maybe I could take an hour nap . . . ?

Nola, don't give Julie more than she can handle, it was Stella who had two kids at the doctor's today.
BTW Stella has more than any mother can bear on her plate!
Stella, I hope they are both ok.

Afternoon all!

Feel better Callie!

Julie, I hope hubby just wakes you for a moment and you can go back to sleep easily.

Gail, I agree with you about Vici and trenching - sucker for punishment!

It has been a beautiful sunny day here today - bugger! That means I have spent the day supervising students throwing a javelin. Try keeping 70 kids from getting stabbed by the blasted things! Mongrels.

I had a morning looking to buy something for my MIL's birthday. She is 95 today. We did ask if she would like to go out to lunch but she was off to play bingo. The family are all getting together at a local restaurant on Sunday.

Final woo hoo for the night: hubby has called and has now reached his final destination. I stayed awake by . . . playing sudoku and reading comments on Easy. But now that he has called, I will be turning into a pumpkin. Good Night, Everyone! Tomorrow is another day, and I wish all of you the best! May all illnesses and injuries heal rapidly!

Hi also to Gail, Nola, Tami, Bobbi, MizT, Suzy, Rolanda - oh I know I've forgotten someone, please forgive me - I'm asleep sitting up.

Taking a 3yo shopping was a stupid thing to do. Why do they have to visit the little girl's room just when you have a shopping trolley half full of groceries. And lunch - well she had a big cookie with smarties (M&M's for topsiders) on it - didn't want a sandwich or any thing mildly healthy. She is a funny little sweetheart though.

CynB we topsiders in the UK have smarties too, had them long before m&ms. Recently they have changed the packaging to a hexagonal cardboard box because the tube with the plastic lid could be dangerous if kids popped them and the lid went flying (spoiled the fun after the sweets have been eaten)

Gail, Callie has a 'lampshade' to wear but only if we have to leave her alone at any time. We just have to watch her and stop her from rubbing her head on the ground or scratching it.

Just a gentle reminder, tomorrow would have been Ruby's birthday. Remember her fondly in your thoughts.
I don't know whether her name will come up in the birthdays box, and I don't know whether to contact Gath or to let it come up so everyone will spend a moment to think of our absent friends.

Cyn, my daughter at 3 could manage the grocery without needing the loo. But I never finished a meal out without having to take her.

Julie, you are a sweetie to stay up to accept hubbies calls and follow his progress on his trip. not sure I would have been interested at 2 am

Happy Birthday to Megan, I missed that yesterday. Stella, need an update on how the children are, did they get your sore throat bug? Is it the flu?

Gail, I think it is good to remember our absent friends.

Know there were other things to comment on, but they are back on the last page. You know what happens if you flip pages, post goes missing, forever.

Hugs to all, and I must go and make my coffee or go back to bed, cannot decide. Later friends.

It was good to hear from Becky, and hope she returns soon. Please pass on that we could stand to hear her rantings, is she needs a place to vent. I hope whatever situation it is clears soon.

Rolanda, feel better, those vaccinations can make you feel rough. How are the secret pocket clothing coming, what do you have finished now? Do we need to cheer you on to the finish?

Brenda, Hope Callie recovers soon, that was some surgery on her head. Talk about a major case of ingrown hair!

Some sunny news from my daughter. My grandson who is autistic and speaks very few words is getting a new tecno-gadget. It is a new app for an iPhone or iPod touch. He can learn to click pictures and it will speak for him. Daughter is very excited about this. here is a link to article about the app and how it changed the life of another autistic boy just one year older than my grandson. Daughter and SIL ordered this for him after they read this article.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2009-05-27-iphone-autism_N.htm

I have great hopes this can be the key for communicating with him.

You may have heard me mention some months ago that he might get a service dog. Hopefully a yellow lab will be the new addition to their home sometime this summer!

Hello SA8ers!! I was MIA (missing in action) yesterday and had 4 pages of reading to catch up on...Hubby took me out to Provo (city in Utah, for those who don't know), went to brekkie, mall, came home for a bit and went to dinner at the new restaurant here (Sostanza, I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago). I had ravioli with mushrooms & meat sauce. YUM!! Darrell had spaghetti with a 10 oz. meatball (told him that it sounds like the size of a softball, which it was!!!!) Very good though. He leaves today for his annual training with the Air National Guard. He'll be home Sunday night. I am going to enjoy the 4 days of alone time. The Los Angeles Lakers are in the NBA Finals. The first game is tonite!! Woo Hoo!! Going to say TTFN!!
See you all later!

Good morning all!

Suzy, after your post re "bring" vs. "take", I checked my dictionary and it appears that "bring" is the appropriate word to use. Bryana does not have strep, they think it is just viral. She doesn't usually get sick and she said she felt like she did when she had strep. She feels much worse this morning. Ian has bronchitis. It came on very quickly. I would have thought he got it from me except for the fact that it is a week and a half after I got sick. He's missing his review classes for finals, his graduation rehearsal and his 8th grade picnic today.

Hope they both feel a lot better soon.

June, please pass on my birthday wishes to your MIL. May we all have our faculties like she seems to have when we reach that age.

Stella, I find that "take" could be acceptable in that sentence. The word take has so many uses, it can be confusing. Dictionary.com lists over 100 uses of the word take. Here are a couple that are interesting.

to conduct or escort: to take someone out for dinner.

to convey in a means of transportation: We took them for a ride in the country.

It could be a regional thing, we would say here, educated or not, I must take my child to the doctor. I was taught in school about a hundred years ago, take is going away from, bring is going toward. As bring me the book, or take the book home with you.

Now, Stella, we are not picking on you, just interesting how words are used differently.

Ruby's birthday is in the birthday box. Should we notify Gath, or leave it there? It wouldn't hurt anything if people left her birthday wishes.

Stella, hope your family are soon better. Not fun having sick children, especially when they are missing things that are important. Hope the 21st birthday celebrations were a success.
Thanks for the birthday wishes for my MIL. Yes she suffers from craft for names at times(who doesn't?), otherwise she is very much on the ball.
Looking at notes in my book I think it would have been Ruby's 60th. birthday. We miss you Ruby.

Good news about your grandson Tricia.
Cyn, I know what you mean about taking a little one to the toilet with a trolley full of groceries. Fortunately I found a either a disable or Mother's room toilet and the trolley could fit in. Crats because it is bed time. Nite All.
