Rola et al... I know Vici isn't coming to see my house... I am NOT trying to make it spotless or anything silly like that... I just want to make room for her to get inside the door... would like to be able to pack away all the paint tins and renovation paraphernalia... in particular my painting trestle in the back room. I refuse to dismantle it until I have finished painting the windows... that all came to a grinding halt 4 weeks ago when I injured my ankle.

Lachie has been sanding window frames while I have been out. I'll be able to paint them once he has finished. He has also washed down all the shelves in the storage unit in Vici's room so I will now be able to restack it and hopefully condense it a bit so that it all fits... I need to get some clear storage boxes so I can see which fabrics are in in which boxes. Lots of craft stuff and books here. Once I have reclaimed the bed I will feel better...

We are a one car family and so I am trying to do boring stuff such as making sure there is enough dog and human food so that all that needs to be bought is the odd loaf of bread or milk... I cleaned out the freezer the other day and now need to do the fridge...

Then there are my plants... my biggest concern. My garden means such a lot to me... you've probably all worked that out! I have a lot of plants waiting to go into the ground and I need to get them in or run the risk of them all being dead when we get back. We have had some very hot snaps at this time of the year before and plants that aren't established in the ground do not cope very well...

I tried a few days without my bandage to work on strengthening my ankle but have resorted to strapping it again... it was slowing me down too much. And now it is time to get back into it.
Ciao.

Rolanda, thoughts and prayers going your way.
It has been a lovely day. Not a cloud in the sky and about 25*c. Started off with a funeral for the brother of a very good friend , came home and the we all went to the beach. We had a fish and chips lunch and G'son played in the playground and the edge of the surf. His father was there to watch him!! Later in the afternoon we drove them both to the airport and as we shared our "Subway and Coke" Hubby said "Happy Anniversary". We will go out one night later this week when we are not so tired and can enjoy ourselves.
It has been lovely having time with both our son and the eldest G'son.(He does have a 4 year old brother)

And by the way, one more wash and the pink shorts should be nearly as good as new.
We were pumping water into the dam so the kids were washed down before they left the dam. When I got home I washed the clothes under running water and used a small nail brush. Soaked in Nappysan overnight, put in the wash today. I then put them back in Nappysan and will put them in the wash again tomorrow. The pink shorts were brand new!

You will have worked a miricle if you get the shorts back to their original colour.
Vici I bet you are having trouble sleeping now with excitement, you are going to have the holiday of a lifetime and get to meet some great friends in person.
Bean how is the painting going? My tip is shove everything under the bed

ha ha... good one Brenda...
Two of the beds are mattress and base ensembles... not much will fit under them!!

My bed is a sleigh bed with drawers on either side. You can shove stuff in the middle between the drawers.. not easy access... have to lift the mattress and slats ... only problem is it appears to be full...

Had a nana nap on Vici's bed today... so at least I know there is room for her to sleep... problem being is the storage unit is almost full... trying to work out where it all came from...will have to persevere tho if I want to change the sheets...

I have the same problem with stuff under the bed, the dust bunnies complain as there is no room for them. I recently bought my youngest daughter a new bed and there is no room at all under it, she had to find a home for lots of stuff that had been lurking under her old bed for years.

Good morning everyone! I'm twiddling away my time here rather than re-packing my suitcases. Raining outside - which is wonderful - no distractions (except the computer) to keep me from getting my ducks all lined up (QUACK! QUACK!)

Brenda - I'm so excited for you and Richard (and Tami - lucky girl, getting to meet you guys). I have never been to Florida and hope to make it to Spring Training (Major League Baseball) someday. Have a wonderful time - we can wave at each other as our planes pass!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes on the trip. Sure wish some of you northern gals could make it down for the Halloween party or the BBQ at June's...but I understand how difficult it is - wish I had the time and finances to go north (and west) to visit all of you. Guess you'll have to make your way to California. We should make a pact that if any of us win the lottery we need to treat our gang to a SA cruise (the REAL thing)!
OK - off I go to get to those ducks that are running-amok!

one last note: I would love to put your plants in the ground for you when I arrive Beanie! You can sit in a chair and supervise. I'm sure my sleep hours will be way off, so I'll probably be wide awake during prime planting hours!

Morning all!
Still thinking of people!

Two weeks - boy the time has flown!

Nola, sorry to hear you aren't sleeping. 8 hours sleep ending at midnight??? The car thing is complicated by the financial thing. Because we'd had our car for 8 years the insurance wasn't enough to replace it with anything other than a bomb. Our other car is over 20 years old with 270,000km on it and we had been hoping to replace it. We sat down and did our sums and are doing a huge reshuffle with our finances so we can replace both cars. The problem with that is that the wheels of financial institutions turn slowly...

Morning all.
Another lovely morning although it will get warm later. Guess I should bowl today although I would rather stay home. Everyone has now gone home! Sharon is back at work this week and has to go in tomorrow so I will have Laura(Sharon generally does not work on Wednesdays)
Suzy, have you put your name down for relief teaching?
Now I just have to wash all the sheets and towels.

So glad Sharon is well enough to go back to work, though I'm sure another week or two off wouldn't have hurt.

Everybody. I still haven't read any posts.
I am sore. I just had to sort out a steer to sell tomorrow. He didn't want to leave his buddies and gave me a bit of a run around. I have to deliver him to the processing plant first thing in the morning tomorrow. Then I need to do some cleaning here. Debby from Michigan will be visiting here in 2 days!!!! I can't believe it! I just hope Lucky, the 100 pound puppy, behaves himself.

Ouch Heidi! Apparently I'm getting to be very assertive with the horses. Not bad for someone who was terrified of horses a year ago.

Nola, we were told 10 working days a week ago, and 3 weeks yesterday. It's anybody's guess when it will be all sorted out.

Good maEn everyone! I haven't been here much, trying to get ffuts done for Halloween & racking my brain (such as it is) for ideas in marketing my Mary Kay business for the holidays...I've had a couple of sales in the past few weeks. Hopefully it will pick up.
Rolanda: lots of loving thoughts & prayers for your mum, keep us posted, k?

Good morning lovely people.
Heidi - nice to see you pop in again. So pleased Debby will be visiting
Suzy - I remember what it's like waiting for a bank loan - frustrating. You know, when we wanted to lease a $175K truck - the finance company gave us an answer on the same day. I fail to see why banks can't improve their response times but having worked in a bank I shouldn't be surprised.
Vici & Brenda (and Bean) - getting closer!

Heidi, good to see you back.
Debby, I will see you in two weeks. I told the beasties to be on their best behavior.
