Does your school require parent conferences? We had to do a minimum of two, often timed just after the end of the first and third (of four) grading periods.

Julie, it is actually easy. Our gradebook is on the computer. It is actually web-based and parents can look up there student anytime they want. I just assign the category and weight and the computer does the rest. For report cards, there are 4 categories for comments and I just fill in the blanks. We are not required to schedule a conference. The parent can schedule a conference anytime they want to.

Vici will be singing this when she gets back to California..
♪♪♪I’ve been to cities that never close down
from New York to Rome and old London town,
but no matter how far or how wide I roam
I still call Australia home.
I’m always traveling, I love being free,
and so I keep leaving the sun and the sea,
but my heart lies waiting over the foam.
I still call Australia home.
All the sons and daughters spinning ’round the world,
away from their family and friends,
but as the world gets older and colder,
it’s good to know where your journey ends.
But someday we’ll all be together once more
when all of the ships come back to the shore.
Then I realise something I’ve always known.
I still call Australia home. ♪♪♪

Okay, trying again to post - slow connection this afternoon....
Afternoon all!
I'm trying to get ffuts done but am easily distracted so here I am again.
We have one parent teacher conference a year, to which many parents don't go. We can also call the teachers at any time and either talk on the phone or arrange a meeting.
Teachers carry a grade book around with them everywhere they go, it is also the roll book for their classes. They can buy it as software if they wish. At report card time they enter grades into the computer. It's a pain in the neck if you ask me as they are all competing for computer time at the last minute.

News story of the day: New research suggests that whether or not a red back spider cannibalises her mate depends on how long he vibrates the web before the 'act'. His 'organ' breaks off inside her preventing anyone else from ever impregnating her again. I don't know why, but this article had me laughing.

Guess who forgot she had a Hair Appointment at 2.00pm this afternoon.
Fortunately Heidi my Hairdresser rang about 1/2 hr ago, asking if she had the date right.. lucky as I only live a few minutes away, she said she could still fit me in. So I was only 1/2 late in the end.

Rolanda, I now have a permanent list on my computer that I open in the morning so I can keep track of where everyone is supposed to be - I have to or I'll forget!!!
Hi Mariana! If hubby's away does that mean we will have the pleasure of your company? I hope so.
Nola, the apples trees were being pruned daily - I had to put a barrier around them, and the lemon, tangelo and (believe it or not) maple trees so the mower couldn't get to them! It would be nice if I got some fruit this year but I'm not holding my breath...

She must be feeling better Suzy, she's complaining more! I must admit she does sound like cr*p, poor little thing, she's only a wee little dot so when she gets something she gets it good!
The reason you have not seen much of me is because with this slow internet, I can't be bothered!
btw Last night (Beth's birthday celebration) was an absolute hoot. Son and his partner were here for dinner and the six of us were rolling in the aisles, it was so funny. D#1 and her partner arrived in time for cake and a great time was had by all.

We are being visited every morning by 2 bower birds. They look young so I suspect juveniles, but they could be mother and child as they have the same colouring. I haven't seen daddy around anywhere so I don't think there is a next close by.

Morning folks...
6 1/2 hours before Vici's plane leaves... 1 day, 2hrs and 20 mins until touchdown in Melbourne... Nah... I'm not excited...
Vici rang last night to see how her bed was going... LOL...
She figured seeing as she was coming all this way to clean my house and work in the garden that that was the least I could do...
I really WILL put spiders in her bed... or short sheet it if she gives me too much cheek!
