Gday and Benny. Great to have you here.
I've brought along a bottle of Aussie bubbly and a plate of nibblies to keep you going for a while. I would have brought a bunch of roses from my page, but since the crash, I have lost all the photos of them. Please feel free to drop in anyway, there's still plenty to look at. I look forward to seeing you there.

Hi Benny, welcome to Sudokuland. I am leaving you a box of chocolate buckeyes to eat while you decorate your page. Although you should hold off on submitting photos until things stabilize, we've been having server problems. Drop by my page to find out more about buckeyes if you don't know what they are.

Hi Benny! to your own page. I live on the East Coast of the U.S., very near the Chesapeake Bay, home of the Maryland blue crab. I have brought a pot of Maryland Cream of Crab Soup for you and your guests. Bon Appétit!
As was mentioned, we've had a few problems here in Sudokuland. As a result some of us are missing avatars, so picture a blue crab in the little blank box, rather than a red x Stop by the 'easy' page and say hi to everyone!

And... Congratulations on your second anniversary! Guess what? We are the same age! ...or I will be next month, that is! Have two married sons & one grandson, but we're celebrating our 39th anniversary this weekend ...at a Rotary Conference in Chatam, Ontario! Whoopee! Sorry, it should be nice!

Hi Benny! I think your comment about the macaw in the wild was directed to me. Sometimes it's hard to tell since there are two Kathy's! I know that macaws usually live in tropical places so I don't think his normal habitat would be on a fencepost near the mountains, but at least he wasn't confined behind bars!! Don't think I've met you before, so . Glad to have you with us. Where in England are you from?

Hello again Benny. Thanks for visiting my page & telling me about Grantham & the assortment of animals that live there with you! One of the things I enjoy here in Sudokuland is trying to learn new things from everyone I meet. So today I googled Grantham & read about it. I also googled African green tamerin, but didn't find it! Is that a variety of an Amazon green parrot? I wish you could post some pictures of your menagerie on your page. Have you ever visited Kate from Sydney's page or Nal from Miami's page? They have many very beautiful photos of birds in their Flickr photos. I love animals of all kinds & seem to be drawn to other people who do. Now I know that that includes YOU! Have a good day.

Hi Benny - Britt Festivals is a music festival (around 35 concerts) from June to September in a small ampitheater (seats 2200 - mostly grass seating). "Britt" comes from one of the founders of Jacksonville, Oregon during the gold rush era - Peter Britt. The ampitheater is on part of the land he once owned, the restoration of the gardens is just begining. You can google "Peter Britt" for his story - The Man beyond the Camera & also there is a "Britt Festivals" link shown on google.

On my page, you can take a photo tour of Jacksonville, with its Historic Buildings & pics of the Britt Festival Grounds & a statue of Peter Britt. Flicker link.

Nothing really "British" here, in our old west, mining town - except maybe our Victorian Christmas Celebration.

I know 150 years may not seem old to you. One of my friends use to live in a 300 y/o Gardener's Cottage (near Horsham). However, this was the founding of "civilization" in these parts - not very many years after Lewis & Clark first crossed America.

Hi, Benny! Spain deserved the win. They played brilliantly throughout the tournament. I just wish they'd scored more than one goal in the final to accentuate their prowess!!! My husband and I were wondering - does England not participate in the Euro cup?

Gosh, that's too bad! Unfortunately, we don't get a lot of European football news here in the US, although ESPN has started carrying some of the EUFA games. In any case, good luck qualifying for World Cup! We'll be looking for a UK team or two (or three - or more)!

Hi, Benny! I got your message regarding your cherries, and let me start by saying.........SEND ME SOME!!! I am so envious! Are they the red sour pie cherries or the sweet kind? Either kind can be canned or frozen. To freeze cherries, simply wash, drain, and pit them. Pack them into sturdy freezer containers and freeze. It’s as simple as that. Later you can make desserts or jam with them. I haven't canned anything in years, but I'm sure you can find instructions on line. And, of course, you can always make preserves or jam. Homemade preserves are not only yummy but they make wonderful gifts. (Follow regular canning procedures to make sure they have a sterile seal). If you can't find a good website on canning, let me know and I'll see if I can help.

Benny, when cherries are cheap I usually stew some and then freeze them. Great to use later in the year.
You can always put clean fruit into a large jar. cover with sugar and then top up with brandy. Keep rotating the jar until the sugar dissolves.Eat after 3-6 months.
I wish I was there to share some of your cherries with you.

Benny, I have been making plum jam, and I use a method of equal parts fruit and sugar, being sure 1/4 of the fruit is under ripe for the pectin they contain. Boil till the jam will "sheet" off a cold metal spoon. Put into jars you have steralized in boiling water, clean any jam from the rim, add the lids and the screw tops, and invert for 5 min. Set them upright, and you will within the hour hear them begin to POP as they seal. I have never had one to fail to seal, and saves that water bath kind of canning of Jams and jellies.

The packing and freezing of pitted fruit will keep up to 3 months, for longer storage, you would want to blanch the fruit first. I would heat fruit in a light sugar syrup, and put into containers for the freezer. Or you can just heat the fruit without sugar in the microwave in thin layers and put into the containers.

Have never made brandy, so no help there, but it sounds good. when I had a bumper crop of fruit before, I have juiced it and frozen the juice to make jelly later, that worked nicely. I stored in freezer in plastic soda bottles.

If you need more help and recipes, I will get out my BALL BLUE BOOK OF CANNING AND FREEZING, has been a good reference for me, taught me all about putting away fruits when I needed to learn again.
