Hello, friend, and thanks for visiting.  Please make yourself at home here.  In the summer, we can chat on the patio with a mimosa and a platter of shrimp.  In winter, we'll cozy up by the fire with some hot chocolate and your favourite liqueur.   I wish you a life filled with wonder.  Stop to marvel at creation.  Make someone smile whenever you can.  And shower affection on all creatures, great and small.

Arthur, our 4-year-old Maine Coon cat.

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes last week. I had dinner with Mom that evening. She then flew up to Portland, OR for a Class Reunion (68th) and flew back for the wedding on Saturday of her only grand-nephew (my cousin’s son – 41, first marriage). Mom (85) refused to take a nap after getting up at 3 am for the flight back and insisted on driving (through Los Angeles to Orange County) for the wedding – she still drives fast. By the time we got to there we were not speaking & the drive back was even worse – getting home around midnight. The wedding & reception was wonderful (so was the beach party the night before, which Mom had missed). Dad always said the reason we fight, was because we are so much alike – both strong willed women. But, we will always love each other. I left Tuesday, had a meeting in No. Calif. Wednesday afternoon, and decided to camp at Burney Falls State Park – making my dog happy, before returning home. The back is still bothering me – but no violent pains – more of the gnawing variety and when standing up after sitting too long (so there were a lot of stops on the way down and on the way home). Thanks for the good wishes – I’m safe if not sound.

I'm very sorry to hear about your mother, Cathy, and she and you will be in my prayers daily. From what you've said, it sounds like there has not been too much damage, and it is our fervent prayer that the doctors will do what is necessary to prevent further strokes. Love you, Gal ... you're all going to get through this with His help. XO

Cathy, know that my prayers to go out to you and your family. I know the stress from having a parent with Alzheimer, so be good to yourself and try to destress often. Let your mom go, she's happy in doing what she pushes herself. But treat each day as if it were the last so you'll be able to feel happier with yourself in that you did all that you wished with your mom.

Hi, Cathy! Just wanted to let you know that prayers are continuing for your Mom and now for your MIL, as well as you and your husband. I know the saying you mentioned, but also recall, "When it rains, it pours." Put up your umbrellas, pull on your boots and know that there's a whole brigade behind you to support you. Good luck!

Glad to hear your mother is improving. She may never be the way she was before the stroke. Thank the Lord for the recovery thus far.

As you said the Lord doesn't give us anything we can't handle. However, remember the "Footprints in the Sand". When there is only one set, it is when we have turned it over to Him to carry us over the rough patches. Don't be afraid to ask for help and trust in Him to carry you through this trying time. Let His will be done.

I currently have posted an Inspirational Video on my U-tube about Patrick Hughes. There is another inspirational video I hope you will watch about Nick Vujicic:

No Arms, No Legs, No Worries. God works in mysterious ways. Not always answering our prayers as we may ask them - but as He wills them.

My prayers are with you and your family, for His will to be done and to give you the strength to carry through.

Cathy my Dear.....So much going on after an enjoyable trip...your mind must be churning like a whirling Dervish. You are certainly in my heart and prayers...please take time out to breath deeply so that you can stay well. As full as your plate is , you still had time to welcome me back.....you are so sweet. I do appreciate knowing that I was missed and some one at least was glad I was back. Thank you. I had a wonderful time...I think I will be going to San Francisco in January...my granddaughter is expecting. We're trying to get her to come home and have the baby around family...but she hasn't made up her mind yet. Oh well.....we'll see!

Cathy, I've been away from sudokuland for a while and am a bit out of touch with how every one is doing but I wanted to stop back and see how your mom and of course you and the rest of the family are doing. I hope every one is holding up okay and that your mom's health is improving. Serious illness of a loved one is so very difficult, don't forget to take the time you need to look after yourself too. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to you and yours. Take care.

Hi Cathy! Haven't been on the site much, but spotted some comments here & there about your Mom having a stroke? I am so sorry. Was it after you got back from your trip, I hope? I left FL on an unexpected trip myself. My daughter in NC called to tell us her husband's sister in NY had died of a heart attack at the age of 47! He went to be with his family, but Wendy had to work a long string of night shifts & had no one to help her with the three boys. I decided to fly up there, was gone Aug. 30 to Sept. 6. I hope things are getting better for you & your mom now. I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers.

Hi Cathy. Thanks for the post on my page. My first reaction to Angela's comments was shock, then anger. I wondered whether to ignore it, but found that I couldn't. And yes, I did find it hurtful, as I'm sure others will. I know people who lost a family member in the attack on the Pentagon. Today is especially painful for them. I just couldn't let her comments slide by. I hope she never need endure what they (and so many others) endured that day. Hugs back to you.

Hi Cathy, How's it going with your mum? When my SIL was in intensive care I used cleansing milk on her face, neck, hands & wrists. She said it as a very cooling, soothing sensation. My love goes with you both.

Hi Cathy - Your fire and hot chocolate were both a welcome sight tonight! It is chilly at my house for the third night in a row and we have a frost warning for tomorrow night. My heart goes out to you, Cathy. I am sure it is not easy seeing your mom like this. I will pray that she has good care-takers. (Both of my in-laws were in a nursing home before they passed away.)
