Hello, friend, and thanks for visiting.  Please make yourself at home here.  In the summer, we can chat on the patio with a mimosa and a platter of shrimp.  In winter, we'll cozy up by the fire with some hot chocolate and your favourite liqueur.   I wish you a life filled with wonder.  Stop to marvel at creation.  Make someone smile whenever you can.  And shower affection on all creatures, great and small.

Arthur, our 4-year-old Maine Coon cat.

Hey Cathy...Thinking about you and keeping you and your mom in prayer. Hope she is doing okay, and able to endure the rigors of therapy...it can get pretty painful at times, and certainly tiring. Most importantly, you must take care of yourself. Its more difficult being a caregiver than many realize! May your mom's healing restore and rejuvenate, and may you have inner peace and reassurance that all will be well!

Cathy - keep your head up and smile. Your mom has a lot of work ahead of her & your help and pushing will be needed. You may need to practice the smile, but keep it flowing along with your love. When you need support - which you will - you know where to turn and your second choice should be your friends here - you have plenty and our prayers are with you.

Hello Cathy, I came by to wish your Mom in her recovery.
My mom had a mini stroke in May. No lasting damage this time but now it is just a matter of time until another one. Hopefully a long time.

Dear Cathy,

What terrible news. Keep the faith - recoveries are possible. Although you are going through a rocky time now, you should think about yourself, too. Strokes tend to run in families, but they can often be prevented through diet and exercise, so while you are tending to your mother, please also take the time to take good care of yourself! I know from whence I speak - my dear mother, her sister and their mother (my grandmother) all suffered from mini-strokes, so I have made some fairly drastic changes in my lifestyle over the past several years.

My very best wishes, Jane

Hello, Cathy! I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom's additional stroke. Unfortunately, it will probably make recovery that much more difficult for her. So, we'll just re-double our positive thoughts, energy, and prayers for her, and for you and your family as you face a new day. Best wishes to all of you!

That's no good, mate. At least she is already in the rehab scheme so when she rallies from this one, she can get straight back into it.
Remember to look after yourself because you are important to us. Cyber hugs and kisses.

Dear Cathy, there have already been so many expressions of care & concern for your mom, it's hard to find any more words to say. Those who have been in your situation understand very well what you & your family are going through. Love, sympathy, & prayers go out to you daily.

Cathy, just wanted to stop back & check to see how things are going. I've been wondering if your mom has a Living Will. My mom made sure our family & her drs. had very clear written & verbal instructions about what she wanted done (or NOT done) in the event she could not make medical decisions for herself. She did not want a feeding tube or any extreme efforts to prolong her life. One of the hardest things I ever had to do in my life was honor her wishes, but in the end I did as she asked. My daughters, who are both nurses, assured me that I did the right thing, but to this day I still wonder??? My thoughts & prayers are with you.

My dear Cathy, Having travelled the road you now embark on, I can only assure you that the pain becomes less noticeable as the fun times, the sharing times or the just plain silly times come into focus more and more. Your Mom was fortunate in having a loving family looking out for her interest, and I'm sure her life was extended by that fact. She is now free of pain and worry. Its now time to take care of yourself so that you can deal with the minutia that builds during an illness and death. May God in HIS wisdom grant you the strength and will to do what now must be done. May Peace find you in due time. I can and do offer you love, prayers and a willing ear if and when you wish to talk. I have found that to be a great way of dealing with my feelings. Another comforting project for me, was to gather all of the cards and condolence messages, pictures of my Mom in different situations and phases of her life, along with other mementos, and prepared a memorial album/scrapbook that I still enjoy picking up and leafing through. My kids and grands have told me that it helped make my Mom's life more lasting to them. Just some ideas to ponder...nothing more. Sometimes one has done it all beforehand...whatever helps...do! Most importantly...Trust yourself and Time, God will see you through. Peace!

I'm very sorry about your mom, Cathy. What a beautiful lady! You expressed concern about not having her around to talk things over ... my mom died 16 years ago, on Mothers' Day, of all things ... and I STILL talk with her very day. You were around her a lot of years ... and you will "hear" her answers to you. Think about her and chat with her, and she will help ease your pain. I, too, am happy that you have your faith ... turn to it and accept the comfort. XOXO

I read Mamacita's message. Ditto doesn't say it all. She will always be a part of you, sometimes there with a touch on the shoulder or a word to direct you (maybe it is just a memory of something she said or did) at a time you need encouragement or direction. Listen to it, feel it and know it comes out of her love.

I know you will be very busy for the next few days dealing with the details. I hope you will make her memorial service a celebration of her life - with all the great memories of the times you and others shared with her. You may learn things about her, you never knew before.

My prayers are for you and your family. Take time to grieve for your loss. But know her final prayer has been answered. She is at peace with the Lord.
