Hello, friend, and thanks for visiting.  Please make yourself at home here.  In the summer, we can chat on the patio with a mimosa and a platter of shrimp.  In winter, we'll cozy up by the fire with some hot chocolate and your favourite liqueur.   I wish you a life filled with wonder.  Stop to marvel at creation.  Make someone smile whenever you can.  And shower affection on all creatures, great and small.

Arthur, our 4-year-old Maine Coon cat.

It is an onerous task to clean up our loved ones things. We did it for my hubby's grandmother many years ago when she passed. Try to be objective otherwise the job will never get done, you cannot pick up every little thing and go off in a daydream remembering when... We found the easiest way was to do it room by room then when finished, we could shut that door and move on.
Thinking of you

Thanks Cathy for your kind thoughts on the death of my husband, Geoff. Our Sudoku family is a great one to have at any time and its a family of choice. I'm honoured to be a member, to have so many friends across the world who can share in our good times, have a laugh with us and also be there for us when we need guidance, comfort or strength when times are tough. Thank you for being a part of that family. Lynne

Dear Cathy - Thanks for stopping by! I have a friend who has been goin through the same thing! Both her Mom and Dad have passed away this Fall! She and her siblings have been cleaning out the house. (They have decided to have the house tore down because it is in such need of repair.) The bad part is, she still has young children at home and she lives about 2 hours from her parents. So it is very time consuming for her!

I am sure it is very hard to divide pictures, knick-knacks and stuff like that. Hang in there, Cathy. Once it is done, it will be behind you.

Thank you for the bottle of Niagra Riesling. We will enjoy it very much! Our sun is shining today. I hope it is shining on you too!

Hi Cathy! Thanks for stopping by my page. I have missed keeping up with my Sudoku friends the past couple months. Seems like we have been on the go constantly what with traveling to St. Simons & Fripp Islands & also having so many visitors here - FL grandsons, Celia, NC daughter, son-in-law & grandsons, & friend from Switzerland. I love them all but do feel rather worn out at this point!! Joanie will be leaving on Sat. & then Rob & I can finally relax again. I have posted a new picture on my page of us with the three NC grandsons. Rob & I met at a univ. party like you & your hubby! Congrats to both of you on keeping your love alive all these years

Greetings Cathy. My wife just loves your kitty Arthur, by the way. How is it that they know exactly how to pose and on what background to make themselves the most attractive?

Thank you for checking in on me. Things are fine here as I hope they are there with you. We have been enjoying a long stretch of indian summer here which makes for very enjoyable golfing.

The chat room has morphed. That's about the closest I can come to a description. I did find Billy, Linda, Angie and Gail in there the other day for a brief visit. I peek in once in a while to see if there are any familiar faces.

Hi Cathy, just checking on how you are doing? I know personally of family not being what you think (wish) they would be. Hang on, this is such an emotional time for you and your family. Good to hear of your much needed holiday to Banff.

Cathy, thanks so much for your lovely message. Yes, Alzheimers is the "Long Goodbye". My Dad had it too and Mum kept him at home far longer than she should have and when it was time to put him in a home, she immediately started showing the symptoms herself. They must have been masked up to then. He lasted a further 18 months and it is now 18 monhs later and Mum is now in a High care dementia secure home. So we have had several years of dealing with this and it has been heart-breaking to say the least. I just cannot believe that my gentle, intelligent, loving parents were reduced to this. Dealing with Mum now is like dealing with a petulant two-year-old. Thanks for caring. I love this site and the people on it.

Thank you Cathy for your wonderful wishes, they came true.
Being with my family yesterday was wonderful. It seemed more intense and I believe it is because we got some news about my grandmothers health this past week which brought home the reality that she is advancing in age. No dwelled on the news just cherished the time we have with her.

Thank you again for your best wishes.

Gday mate, thanks for the party on easy. It was beautiful reading what people were bringing and the loved ones that inspired their contributions. I did go straight to ring my Mum, she was a little taken aback when I said "I'm just ringing to say how much I love you" but she was greatly touched. Whilst we have always been a demonstrative family with hugs and kisses, we never used to say the 'l' word, but that changed when my father passed away in '04. My parents had long been divorced and I had been estranged from my father for various reasons. In his last week, the call went out that Dad would like to see us all. I had an inner turmoil about whether to go or not which lasted all of about 30 seconds! My sibs and I were able to spend the last week with him in his house and it was very cathartic for me to be able to reconcile with him. I even showered him which was a beautiful and tender moment that I will always cherish. Since then, I tell my Mum that I love her at every opportunity and she says it straight back.
I know the party is over, but in honour of my Dad, who was in amateur theatre like forever, I would like to leave a script of the play I loved seeing him in the most, "The Summer of the Seventeenth Doll".
I'm pleased your relations with your relations have improved because there comes a day when we cannot say "I love you", despite their shortcomings! All the best with the clean-up, this too shall end.
Sorry for rambling on so but I thought you would understand and wouldn't mind. Thank you.

Lots of love,
Gail
