Kathy, I knew the word utile from taking French. The problem was that, like gown and own, the two words don't rhyme. Plus I wasn't thinking of futile as meaning useless. I was trying to think of words like trash and junk.

So, utile is pronounced you-teal' (at least the way i learned it!) and the word utility comes from it. Futile has the long "i" sound like floor tile.

so much for posting that recap of the the Decorah eagle family. I watched quite a bit during the time when the eggs were laid & the hatchlings were little, but I haven't seen much of the progress in the past month or so. It was wonderful to see the summary of all the steps along the way. Bob's camera enabled many thousands of people to watch an amazing process of nature that would otherwise have been invisible to us. I enjoyed it SO much.

I was just about to write exactly what Kathy/Valrico wrote. I haven't had time during the day lately to watch any of the eagles I used to spend hours watching, so I was delighted to see the recap.

Kathy, thanks for putting up the tribute to the eagles. I have watched them since there was two eggs. Laura loved seeing them do a 'poop' which was aimed out of the nest.

I’m sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you but I have been in Adelaide on a Dog Judging Assignment. The other judges were great fun with three from the USA (Maryland), a married couple from New Zealand and a gay couple (male) from Holland. I was the token Australian.
I have to admit, I can't tell you where in Maryland they actually came from.
The dinners were hilarious and I put on 2 kilos.
Fortunately this week I have been very strict and have lost 1.8k in 4 days.
Anyway thank you so much for your birthday wishes. They were really very much appreciated. After many years of trying I’ve finally convinced the family not to waste money on cards and presents of things I don’t really want and put their money towards a plane ticket to visit the old folks more often.
At my age, I’m just glad to have the birthday without having all the hoo haa as well.

Oh, a Maryland crab fest! How I wish I could participate again. Last time I was a teenager. I still always have a tin of Old Bay to sprinkle on chicken or seafood or to make crab cakes from canned crab. It's not the same, but it's as close as I can get.
