Hi Gail Bill sends his thanks for the birthday wishes he was very pleased when I told him of your message. My Dad's family have been at it again not only did his brother Bob die in June but his sister Shirley died and we had a funeral to attend last Thursday as the saying goes it comes in threes. Bill and I are going in the van next week for a couple of weeks away don't know where yet as we are just going to go where ever we wander mostly out west. Cheers for now.

Hi Gail, I'm certainly hoping to catch up with you and some other sudokuists while I'm in Melbourne. Vici would be a bonus if she hasn't headed home.
I booked the tickets cause they were a bargain at $79 each way (including luggage). Now we just have to decided where we want to go and what we want to see, book accommodation and organise a hire car. It will all happen eventually.
I'll keep you up to date with our plans.

What seems strange to me is that so far you are the only one to comment on Sen. Kennedy's passing away. I fully realize that this site is a microcosmos and we don't really know each other, but Ted was a great guy and worth a mention.

Ah, Gail, you're a real treasure. We lost a real special guy here, not a "social" friend of ours, but someone I knew from church--we were lectors together, and he was larger than life. On his way to golf last Monday morning, he sensed danger and pulled over to the side of the road; an a doctor, he realized he was in trouble. He died right there by the side of his car, alone--a vision not easily forgotten. My heart is heavy for his wife and soul mate--they did everything together. Those of us who know loss feel the pain so very keenly, I think. I'm sending you a hug in return, and a raised glass to those we've loved and lost.

Thanks for your understanding about what has happened in Padang in relation to my surrogate family there. It niggles at me all the time - underneath and in my subconscious. I even feel a physical malaise from it.

Hi Gail, So nice to hear from you. I haven't deserted Sudoku at all. I just don't comment unless there's something I just can't keep quiet about. Yes, I have a new grandson, actually now he's 5 months old. A lovely little boy called Lucas. He comes to my house twice a week and I spend the whole time feeding him, changing nappies and playing. It's so different to any other time I've looked after a baby (even my own) as for the day I completely ignore any other chores or things I usually do and just enjoy him. Apart from that my life is fairly boring these days. Take care and thanks for thinking of me. oxoxo

Thank you so much for remembering. A little after the fact doesn't matter. This year, it was very low key, no party, and no "out to dinner." Trying to diet, you know. As is often the case, my "present" was the trip just taken. Presents are hard since when we want something, we just go out and get it.
