Hi Ian. Have you been touring the Hawkesbury in the rain? Or is it not till next week? I'm going to the Sculpture by the Sea next Wednesday (the 14th). We're going in the morning. Let me know if you can come that day I'll make some arrangements about meeting up!
Like your pictures from the Bronte lunch! Felt a bit cold while looking at the surfers today!

Tower: "Aircraft on final, go around, there's an aircraft on the runway!"
Pilot Trainee: "Roger" (pilot continues approach)
Tower: "Aircraft, I said GO AROUND!!!"!
Pilot Trainee: "Roger"
The trainee doesn't react, lands the aircraft on the numbers, rolls to a twin standing in the middle of the runway, goes around the twin and continues to the taxiway.

727 pilot: "Do you know it costs us two thousand dollars to make a 360 in this airplane?"
Controller: "Roger, give me four thousand dollars worth."

Tower: "Mission 123, do you have problems?"
Pilot: "I think, I have lost my compass."
Tower: "Judging the way you are flying, you lost the whole instrument panel!"

Tower: Have you got enough fuel or not?
Pilot: Yes.
Tower: Yes what??
Pilot: Yes, SIR

Very thing is fine in my little corner of the world Hope this find you in the same way. Cheers.

Hi Ian. We usually start at the Icebergs end & finish at Tamarama & get lunch there. This time one of us has an appointment at 2 so we'll have to leave by 1pm. Usually we've had lunch by then because we usually get to Tamarama a bit before 12MD. I'll be off the computer now till Monday, so I'll check in with you then!

Ian, I hope you had a great time on the River. The weather's perfect as I write this on Monday. We usually have lunch at the kiosk at Tamarama Beach. If there's a table available we have lunch then look at the sculptures on the beach & on the grass at the beach. If there are no tables we'll do the sculptures first! There's a picture of me in my gallery! If there are still no tables & the queue is long well probably forgo lunch this time because of a 2pm appointment my friend has.

Gday Ian, just a quick pop in to let you know I went out to breakfast with my niece and her partner, and I had Eggs Benedict in your honour! I'd never had it before and it was scrummy. They served the eggs on an opened, lightly toasted croissant, now if that isn't decadent I don't know what is!
Hope you are feeling well and rested after your weekend away.

Sorry mate, back again. Just dropped in to Kate's page and saw that you visited Dangar Island. Many hundreds of years ago(!), my parent's lived there. They had three kids by that stage and Dad used to row from the island every Sunday night, go into Sydney to work, staying in a boarding house, then row back Friday night! So Mum would be left on the island all week with her three girls, all under the age of four! Now that's doing it hard.

Not signed in, at work.
Was thinking of you on Sunday as we watched the air display at Temora. There were many middle aged and up men who had the look of ex-RAAFies. all with a twinkle in their eyes as they watched the display.
Have to admit I felt a little sentimental too, watching the Canberra fly - that was a big part of our life when we were first married. But I didn't feel as sick as I used to when Mike was sitting in the nav seat while they were flying a display!!!

Hi Ian, my morning routine is similar, I get up early and read the news online from several different sites from oz, the us and britain, usually playing sudoku and looking at comments in between. Here is where it gets different... at 7 my day really starts as this is when it is time to get the eldest of my kids up to get ready for school.

Morning Ian - My routine was all messed up this morning as my youngest is off on her first ever sleep over school camp. I only had 30 minutes on-line instead of my usual 2 hours! Now I have breakfast dishes waiting, clothes waiting to be hung out and floors waiting to be vacuumed, but am catching up on my reading to aleviate the withdrawal symptoms!

I'm thinking that Col Pay may have been a friend of yours. His death was tragic. We really enjoyed his displays in the Mustang the other week at Temora.

Hello, Ian. I was a little nosey I'll admit when returning Mickey's greetings and read a few of her previous messages. I noticed that you were an Essendon supporter, born in Essendon waaaaaay back. So am I and so was I - in a hospital called St Helen's, which has long been closed, and under the care of a Dr O'Lachlan (I think that was his name). I say "Under the care of ..." because he wasn't present to deliver me. In fact, no-one was. My mother and I managed that on our own.
Born in Essendon and a Bombers supporter, you were obviously destined to a career in the air force!

Ian, for an interesting (and perhaps sad) variation in the haka story, google "jefferson high haka." The nannification of America is complete.

Ian/Boston, thanks for drawing my attention to to this version of the Haka. Yes, it is sad they have been penalised for a harmless bit of team bonding before the game. But that's not the bit that counts, is it? It is everything else they do during the game that counts.
I don't think the Kiwis have a mortgage on the Haka, there are many different versions around, particularly among the Pacific Island nations.
Many years ago I saw in a film, and the name escapes me, a scene of over a thousand Maori warriors performing the Haka as a War Dance. The rich sound of their angry voices was enough to intimidate any opponent.
The only other movie that has had the same effect on me is the film called 'Zulu'.
I don't know if I told you but there are a number of examples to be found on YouTube, just search for Haka.
