Shosho: my condolences to you for the problems you've been going through and my prayers for the difficult decisions you're facing. It's something many of us have faced, but that doesn't really matter when it concerns you. You just have to do what is right and best for ALL of you, and don't worry about YOU being part of that consideration--you are a very major part of what ia going on and who is taking care of things. Good luck and God Bless.

Shosho - have been away from site for a few days and just caught up with posts.
My thoughts are with you at this time. It is so difficult to see one's parents, once so independent and capable, become so vulnerable. Our roles become reversed. Be assured that there are many of us on this wonderful site who understand what you're going through. Remember the good times and keep your spirit up by whatever means it takes - prayer, humour, family and friends.

Shosho; Somehow I knew you would be prepared for all this--you're smart enough to stay on top of it, much more so than a lot of people. But, please know that in those wee hours of the morning (or whenever) it all starts to get to you, that I (and I know several many others on this site) are here for you, and you will still be in my prayers. Have a good week.

I'm glad things are getting easier with your mother, now Shosho. Like you fish, they are much more colourful than mine! It's nice to be able to feed them as often as you want without risk of killing them!

Refers to girl "bits". so if someone here has a sore fanny, it usually means sore vagina or round that region.
Funny story of Aussie lady with almost pubescent daughter who went to the USA on posting - girl enrolled in school. Class was going for excursion, and note was sent home telling students to bring a fanny pack. Mum very confused, had to go and ask child's male teacher what this meant, and explain to him why she was confused. She was thinking she had to pack pads, tampons etc for girl's in case needs. Here a fanny pack is called a "bum bag"!
BTW - report this comment as abusive if you want it taken off your page. I won't be offended!

Hi sweet friend
dont ever think you are imposing to have a chat on my page.
I know very much where you are at, you are probably a step ahead of me with parental responsibility at the moment. dad is improving but also wondering why he has to stay in hospital.
I am glad to see your post late today about your mum being at ease in her new surroundings. I hope you sleep much more restfully tonight as you know that mum is safe and getting the help she needs.
stay strong my dear friend and feel free to 'chat' or 'vent' on my page at any time.

Hi Shosho

no problem - language can be so culturally sensitive can't it? It provides us with probably at least half of our humour.

Sharon - you are so right & your son is apart of that protection force. I am so thankful for young men and women like him & he with others like him are in my prayers.

As you know I am a Christian. When Jesus said, "Love your neighbor as yourself." Someone asked "Lord, who is my neighbor?" His response was the Good Samaritan Parable. So often, our country has been the "Good Samaritan", possibly as a part of the religious heritage of this country. America is there with a willing helping hand in earthquakes, floods, tsunami, etc. - not just the government but the people with their donations. Even in war. Oh, yes there are some immediate thank yous. But, our assistance is often forgotten. We are not a perfect country. But, I do believe we try to do the right thing.

I do not hear any love in that film. Islam is suppose to be a religion of peace. The majority of Muslems are peace loving, and want the same thing as most of us do. However, if in fear they do not speak out against the hatred being professed as their faith, this world may well see its Armegedon. Earlier this week Osama, urged attacks in Europe.

Sharon, we did do exactly that, comfort each other and use the cruise to help us not dwell on the sadness. We did have a good time on the cruise, and we do have many fond memories of our time with Simon. Thank you for your support.

Shosho, I know what a trying time you are having with your Mom. It is very difficult for our elderly parents to "settle in" to a new situation. I went through the same thing and some days just brought me to tears. Please remember you are doing the very best you can for her. She is safe, well cared for, and has your love and support. Sending hugs your way

Hi shosho! You wanted me to tell you when Jonah the loggerhead sea turtle would be released. After almost three years with us, Jonah measured in at the release size of 45cm today during first-of-the-month measurements. 45.4 cm, in fact! He will be released without fanfare into the intercoastal waterway in the next few days or weeks, depending on when Florida Fish & Wildlife staff are available.
Jonah has been a wonderful educational specimen and ambassador for us, but we can keep him from his destiny in the ocean no longer. Soon he will be free!
Check out the Marinelife Center's blog for more details! blog.marinelife.org
I helped release a big loggerhead (300+ lb) last week named Jezebel. A few shots of me carrying the turtle to the sea made it on that blog.

Shosho, I saw that you were entering grades on line. What site do you use? I am also a teacher and can enter grades on line. My school uses Pinnacle. I think it is by Excelsior. I am on spring break so I am probably wrong. My brain is taking a vacation. We had to put all grades in before break.

You are not bad. The Broward school board has a firewall. I can not access Sudoku from within the school boundaries. No game sites, My Space etc. It is done for the kids but there are times that I would love to reenergize with a sudoku or other puzzle.
There are some educational kids game sites that have sudoku puzzles but they are not the same.

I am glad you are a mentor. My first year teaching, my mentor did nothing for me. I became friends with the science teacher on my team and he became my unofficial mentor. He moved about 5 hours north but we still keep in touch. His sister-in-law is still teaching at my school. Have a great rest of the school year.

Shosho, Thanks for the Easter bunnies, chocolates and California wine! I can leave you some healthy Florida OJ and strawberries which are in season now. My daughter is in Sacramento and cousin in LA. Daughter + 6 YO grandson just left after a week here - I loved having them - very energizing! But we were really wiped out when they left! Take care!

Shosho, This is a great harbor for sailing; I have raced in Solings here. Very tough boat! I was aloooot younger. We have a J22 which we both race with a mens' crew for my husband and I have a womens' crew. We chicks will race in November for our boat club's regatta. I hope we don't look stupid! We will be practicing! Hope you enjoy your weekend.

Hi Sailor Lady! You have had a great experience with your Soling Nationals! My husband and I with three men raced a J24 for 15 years on Lake Ontario and in some national and international levels. Beging a "larger" woman I was safe in the companionway position in charge of hoisting the chute and line tending as well as compass readings. We looked up your M 242 site - very impressive boat! Faster PHRF rating the the J's. Looks like a fun boat. We could tell some tales I am sure! I don't know how to post pictures so I will find some website to refer you to!

Hi shosho!
You expressed an interest in knowing when JonaH (NOT JONAS), Loggerhead Sea Turtle, would be released to the wild.
Well, today's the day! As I write this, Jonah is either motoring north or is already swimming in Indain River Lagoon, a part of the Intercoastal Waterway north of here where many loggerheads that size are regularily seen.
Jonah lived at Loggerhead Marinelife Center of Juno Beach, Florida, as our educational specimen, from being a tiny hatchling until today. The animal had reached his release size of 45cm carapace length.
The loggerhead sea turtle is very instinct driven. Though it receives no maternal training of any kind, we need not worry that the animal has lived its whole life in captivity. He was angry and agressive to the end- great survival traits in a marine predator! I am sure the animal will thrive.
