Hi Shosho. Thank you so much for your kind sentiments. I know how difficult taking care of our loved ones is. When the time comes, do not let your Dad feel remorseful if he has to put her in a home. It will be best for both. I am fortunate enough to be able to have someone taking care of Mom during the day, and my wonderful hubby helping me after we get back from work. I know someone made a strong remark about medications in the comments a few years ago; my life changed when the Doctors gave Mom Seroquel so she could relax. She is able to walk; I take her for rides with me; she takes part of all the family functions with us; but she is a lot calmer and her paranoia is under control. I took Mom to the psychiatrist and he changed her medication as she was being given Zoloft for depression and that made things worse.
If I can help in anything - or if you need someone to talk to - drop me a note.

and hope all is well in your side of the world.
I noticed your question in regard to avatars on site today. When you try to submit an avatar, you will notice that Gath has posted the instructions on there in regard to sizes etc., also if you check out the Members help and Info page in the forum section you will see what programme most of us use to reduce our images for avatars.
Hope this helps you, if not let me know.

No you can read nothing into 'the Fly in the Soup'. I wrote that in 1992 at my peak. It is far the best thing I have ever written. That poem came from outer space.

Thanks for your birthday wishes, Sharon! You call ME wild? I think that is your middle name! Of course I'll have a drink with you, but I have one nagging question ... if you become "gregarious and garrulous," as you say ... how would that be different from your everyday persona?? He he! Have a great time on your trip tomorrow!! (A little ... big ... birdie told me!) XO

Have you tried singing and dancing during break time. I used YMCA with running in place and Balling the Jack etc. They made up some of their own.

Hi Shosho! That is so great that you met up with friends from this site. Where did you meet them? Loved looking through your photo gallery. I've been busy working, just part-time but it takes all my "extra" time and then some! Haven't been on much lately but I'm glad to see things are going well on the site. I have to reload all my pictures, they got lost during the "great crash". Just haven't had the time.

Thank you Shosho for sharing your photos of your meeting with Dino and Keith. She certainly is a lovely lady isn't she. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and she has brought me peace and wise council a couple of times since.

Shosho - glad you are going to find your way back to the temple. There is power that we all reach for to get us through our earthly journey - this power comes from our faith. May you find your strenth in your faith as Dino has.

I think the cute critter you're asking about is my current Avatar, right? It's a Wombat, an Australian marsupial that I've been fascinated with since I was a teenager. Angie made the smilie (also a Wombat) I'll use to sign off with.

Shosho so much for posting Dylan Thomas today. One of my favourite pieces of prose.
I agree whole heartedly with your comments on aging, Oldtimers [as I call it 'cause I nearly always muff it when I try to say Alzheimer's!!] Do you have a back up plan that your family know about?

After watching my mothers decline my poor son has been lectured on what is and isn't permissible in old age - I'm just worried I will not be able have control or be able to chose. Our politicians are determined to make it impossible to have any say it what we can and cannot take and don't seem to care that some of us care very much about QUALITY of life as opposed to QUANTITY of life.

Always enjoy your posts and 'wickedness' he, he!!!

It's true, that is a pretty funny image, me holding a Wombat on my lap. They are cute, and look cuddly, but it is my understanding they are very destructive, powerful digger/tunnelers, and rather large, probably weighing 50 pounds or so, not the lap animal they look like they might be.

shosho, dino left me a message too. You should check out what she had to say about those cute cuddly Wombats.

Love your widget.

I was teasing with the rocks comment, but if you think about it, it does sound pretty funny to say you gave rocks as a present.

Those are pretty silly commercials. I didn't mean to make a big deal out of it, but Eve sure jumped on the bandwagon. Did you notice Rayray's comment about effervescent milk?

Shosho, I'm so sorry about your Mom's situation.
I went through the same thing with my mother. I know how difficult this must be for you and your Father. Try and remember that she will be getting the care she needs. Your family's love and support will make the transition easier for your parents. I'm sure it will be a hard decision for your Dad to accept, but he'll eventually realize it's a necessary one. Thoughts and prayers coming your way...

We don't cruise for the on-board casino (not gamblers), though most boats have one. We cruise because we enjoy the boats and the scenery and the shore excursions in the various ports of call. It should be a fun trip, and our first time to that part of the country.

Sharon - remember - you need to take some time for yourself. Burning a candle at both ends - doesn't work well. A few hours at Descanso, just walking, sitting, reflecting & meditating may be the breath of life you need. I will keep you in my prayers, hold fast.
