We grown ups mostly sat in the shaded picnic area. The birds were so tame! Two kookaburras captured lizards only a couple of metres from us! They sat there doing the hit them on the ground thing, watching us, but not afraid. I've never seen anything like it! Then the magpie came up and drank out of the water dish we'd put down for a strange dog who'd come up to visit us. Even closer than the magpies! In the trees were a dozen other different types of birds, including rainbow lorikeets.... amazing!

Today is 'Kids Day Out' at the showground. Ally has to be there for about 5 hours, but will not be on stage that long - thank goodness! It looks like she will have one solo and for the rest of the time sing back up. Sounds like a good way for a youngun to start to me! I'm glad she's only a reserve. Full time would be too much for her while she is getting used to high school...

I heard neighing and went out to investigate - blasted lawn mower had knocked down a fence again! Luckily Ebob was sleeping next door and was able to bring him home before he got into more trouble. I've got both horses in the house yard for now until the fence can be fixed. They were supposed to be picked up yesterday because there wasn't enough left for them to eat.... he was just hungry.

Only woke the once Suzy and Hubby actually came to bed early. He is not feeling well, has had a cough/cold since just after Christmas but was well enough to go to bowls all day yesterday!!!
I think I saw those twins on OPRA a few weeks ago.The TV was on and I was not really watching so only saw the last part of it.

That's them, Suzy. I remember them from the program on Discovery. Scary that the twin's one heart is failing. The question in my mind is: Are they looking for one heart or two for a transplant? I don't think one would work for twins (their one heart is very abnormal), but two would be a lot harder to find.

When I went back to bed I thought I bet Suzy gets the next TOPP as there were only six to go! Too many for me to CP.

IH's cousin is in town, so we're going out to supper. I'd rather go to sleep. I didn't get much last night because of Missy (getting the bleeding stopped, then calling the Vet as soon as he opened in the morning).

Snort June! I'm that predictable?
Heidi, it is scary to think about. The thought that went through my head - if put in the position, how will they choose?
The lawn mowers are dolefully circling the yard trying to find a feast. There is some grass left up near the back fence, but it must not be sweet enough for them. I figure they will find it eventually.

Time to wake Ally to get her ready for her big day, text the owners of the lawn mowers to tell them of this morning's excitement, and get myself ready to sit around for 5 hours....

I too went to see the video about the conjoined twins. I did not hear them say if they were doing a separation surgery or what, but that would be such a hard decision to make to even consider such a surgery. How very sad that this happens to any children, ever.

SUZY, you direct us to some most interesting news stories, you must read a lot of online news, thanks for bringing things to our attention, I would miss a lot without you!
Other day Al came in asking if I had heard about the plane landing in the hudson river. I told him, yep, heard about it via Australia. He thought that was funny.

Morning SA7.
I now have the baby details from my niece Kim.
Kira Dianne Fry was born at 7.35pm Sat. 17th Jan.weighing 1.3kg. So tiny but then she is 10 weeks early.
She is a very strong baby they say and Kim is doing well. She will not be home for about the next month, not sure how long in the hospital, about a week she thinks and then she will move to a Ronald McDonald House.

thanks for the link suzy. that is them. they will need two hearts. they are currently streaching the skin to have the surgery. they are also doing something to strengthen one of the girls hearts so she will qualify to go on the transplant waiting list. they will give the strongest twin the first heart that comes available and the other will be on a artificial heart for toddlers (a brand new technology). this surgery has be attempted 3 times i think. none have been successful, but they didn't have this new artificial heart. they are such great people. how they get through this is beyond me.

Wow! Lots and lots of PMs and messages to respond to! It will take a while, but give me great pleasure. Thank you so much! I haven't been around much as life has been busy. It's hard to say even now, as I am not looking for sympathy for either my mum or me, especially with others suffering so much more. Mum had another fall during that heavy rain and gale force winds. After staying with us, she insisted on returning home. While it's normally only about 11km from my place, with flood swollen rivers, I have to take a different route, much longer, to go there every day - cook, clean etc. She will be OK, but after fracturing her hip last year, now her tibia on the other leg, plus some foot and toes damage, bearing any weight is hard. One of the perils of carrying excess weight. She will be fine, and so will I, but I just wanted to explain my absence.

Much to catch up on, but just dropping in to say hello.
Having some work done and its coming along very nicely...I'm busy, but a happy camper.
The 16th was Sully's birthday and I had an "unbirthday" party for one....I fixed one of his favorite meals and had fruitcake and champagne to toast him well.....He had a great life and I wanted to show appreciation for having had him in my life...Everyone called and most thought it was good...my son was a little doubtful, but if it made me happy. it was okay with him...he just started to sound like his father when he asked if I was finished spending money...lol. I told yes, for the time being...that made him happy..so all is well here.
Must wish my EAGLES LUCK.. They play against Arizona tomorrow to see who goes to the Superbowl...sure hope my guys win...
GO EAGLES...Beat Arizona!
See you soon ....have a great day/night and stay well! Peace!

Tricia ..I second your comment about our resident news feed...it is wonderful how Suzi keeps us in touch with the world...enables us to spend even MORE time here...Pete laughed when I told him about Al and the Hudson R. 'you heard the news first from Oz..'
It took hours for my 1st post to go thru by which time kettle was well and truly up and posting on the board...hehe..my apologies...
Ooh Liz...a bit la-di-da for the likes of moi... but then I'm forgetting about the reception I went to at Government House and had a drink with the Guvnor...wish I had the photo...

S2 copied Rolanda's son, and we are now on dial up. I decided to change ISPs for no extra cost so we won't have to be on dial up for weeks.

Bean, it's simple. I don't have children. No school. No clothes. No books. No video games. No allowance. None of the other expenses you all have with kids. My Vet bills are tiny in comparison.

MARIANA, thanks for the additional information about the twins. Do let us know when there is more news. I googled them and saw several photos and videos of the twins, they are such happy and healthy looking girls, so much personality shines through, it is amazing. All the best to the entire family. Did I read correctly that the twins grandparents, live in Seattle?

MAMA, good to see you back, been missing you. The unbirthday party for one was an excellent idea in my opinion. Having a new plan on those special days can be a big help to working through your grief.
Do not let son bother you about what you are spending. If you can afford it, and I am certain that you know to the penny what you can afford, then go for it sweetie!

Heidi, I think MizT explained it well. Rolanda's son used up all their month's allotted broadband allowance, which put them on dial up speed for weeks. My S2 also used ours up (downloading a program on all 4 computers). That would have had us on dial up for 2 weeks until the 28th or so, so I switched ISPs - no change over costs, same speed, same price, bigger allowance, and we'll be back on broadband in a couple of days. I must be off now.
