Anne, great photos. The Antarctic shots are especially good seeing as they were taken through an aircraft window...............they were, weren't they? You weren't sitting on the wing, were you?

The park art was special too. The imagination of some people, who then have the ability to make it so....terrific. Thanks.

G'day Anne. Thanks so much for your congratulations on the birth of Chase. What a relief it was to finally welcome him into the world last Friday night. And what a busy week we have had since then, too. Chase & Kyley went home on Sun. & I spent the night at K & P's house to help with night duty. Then on Mon. Chase had his first appt. with the pediatrician, & I went with Kyley to that since Paul had a big meeting with his boss that day. The big photo session was on Thursday here at our house, & today there were two more appts.
I was glad to read that you have bought a bicycle & will start riding more! I think that will be great for you, & it's something your grandies will enjoy doing with you! I am so happy that unless something unforeseen comes up, Chase will live close to us for many years to come. Have a great weekend.

Hi Anne, The gridline thing is an ongoing issue. You are Not Alone.
On the Forum page, in the Sudoku Techniques section, there is a thread -

missing darker gridlines for 3x3 blocks of numbers - usbond .

You may find something of interest / help there...

Dear Queen Anne Thank you for the lovely birthday greeting and I got it today American time! Although really considering where I was born the Aussie time is closer just 1 hour ahead. I took the time to look at your amazing shots. I have got to get my money together soon. I must see personally your beautiful country!

Thanks for the welcome Anne. I've been here a few years however as I usually get my puzzles later in the day the chatter is long over so I don't participate. Judging by your mass of comments you are either extremely popular, which I am sure is the case, or have been a member forever. Obviously a great place to visit.
Thanks again 'the mushroom'

for the lovely birthday wishes! What can be better than spending it with family and friends? I had dinner out with family on the 'Aussie' birthday and with friends on my topside birthday. All of the Sudokuland birthday greetings are the icing on the cake!
(And I get to see your photo gallery when I visit your page after my birthday!)

Hi Anne!
Thank you for your thank you! I have enjoyed posting the puzzles. I certainly learned there are some very clever people here!
I'll still be around, just not consistently enough to be reliable 4 days a week.
Thanks again for your kind thoughts!

Wow I'm in and out of this site, I missed quite a bit. But I didn't want to miss thanking you for your congrats! Calvin (Since Brach, Sr is alive and kickin', the baby will be called by the name my son gave him) is one healthy adorable fellow. I'm just prejudiced but I think he is adorable!

Anne - That sounds like a wonderful trip. I hope you learn how to use your new camera by then so you can get some wonderful shots for your memories. I would take the guided tours also for a trip like that. Otherwise, I'd miss special sites and information.

Thank you for noticing I was gone, Anne! The people on the site are very important to me but often one wonders if it's reciprocal. I have been traveling. Now that my diabetic cat is gone we can travel again. We hiked over 27 miles in the Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee over 4 days. I'm a bit crippled up now, but really enjoyed getting away.

Hello All,
My trip is a cultural one (partly because I couldn't stand just sitting in a train with no adventure) and because this particular one is fully escorted, which I would prefer in the countries I am visiting.
30th - I fly to Hong Kong a day ahead so that I can see some of that city.
Day 2 of trip. We leave HK and catch a train to take us across China, stopping at Guangzhou (old Canton) then continue to..
Day 3. Arrive at Xian in the evening.
Day 4/5 Today we go sight seeing and see the Terracotta Warriors, old city walls, the Bell and Drum towers, Little Goose Pagola and the Shaanxi Provincial Museum. Evening board train to Beijing
Day 6. Arrive in Beijing and see the Lama Temple, Tiananmen Square and Mao's Mausoleum, Temple of Heaven and the hutong neighbourhoods dating from the Yuan Dynasty.
Days 7/8. Visit the Great Wall of China.
Day 9. Board the Trans Mongolian Railway train the Ulaanbaatar Express which takes us through lovely scenery and mountains to Inner Mongolia.
Day 10. Arrive Ulaanbaatar at the south Gobi desert.
Day 11/12. Attend the Naadam festival with colourful costumes, watch wrestling, children riding mountain ponies, archery and plenty of races, etc. attended by monks, officials and local celebrities. This will be a highlight of my trip, I think.
Day 13. Terelj National Park. Visit the National History Museum and the Gandan Hiid Monastery. Travel across the grasslands where we spend one night in a ger (Mongolian hut).
Day 14. Spend the morning exploring this area and in the afternoon return to Ulaanbaaatar (the capital of Mongolia) where we visit the Sukhbaatar Square and Zaisan Memorial. Evening departure on Trans Mongolia for Siberia.
Day 15. North across the steppe and through the mountains along the valley of the Selenge River.

Trans-Siberian Trip cont.
Arrive in Irkutsk, the heartland of Siberia. Tour different parts of the city, markets, cathedrals, etc.
Day 16. We go to Lake Baikal, the largest inland fresh water lake in the world. Yes, I bought some bathers especially to dip my toes in the lake. We visit different places in the area and possibly have a trip on the lake, I hope.
Day 17. We leave the Lake and go to Irkutsk where we catch the train to Ekaterinburg, in Russia and leave Siberia behind after visiting museums and other old buildings in the area.

Day 18/19. Travel across Russia by train and cross the Ob River, through Omsk to Ekaterinburg.
Day 20. Ekaterinburg - We do a city tour. Founded by Peter the Great and where the Romanov family were executed.
Day 21. Back on the Trans-Siberian Train where we cross the Urals and enter Europe to Moscow.

Days 22/24. Spent in Moscow sight seeing.

Days 25/27 St. Petersburg. Visiting the interesting and historic parts of the city with an evening out at a performance at one of the theatres.
Day 28. I leave for Helsinki, Finland for a couple of days then on to England for about 6 days. Last evening in England we are going to a Manor House which has an outdoor theatre to see a performance of Dad's Army, the forgotten years.
6th Aug - to Heathrow and home.

This is copy & paste message about the Sudoku Easy Jigsaw Problems:
They went wild after one of Gath's changes. If you go back in the beginning (15th May 2005) & check the photos in the archives you'll find that the only jigsaw is the torso in the black jumper with the white coffee cup, you'll find that photo as the jigsaw on every Easy Sudoku page up till the 12th of January this year. I did comment on this earlier this year, but I'm usually commenting when no one's around!!!
I'd say the photos we're getting are the ones from the Easy pages that don't have a home any more! And the off sized ones are possibly the very early reward photos for finishing the Sudoku!
So I think we just have to accept that the Easy Sudoku jigsaw is going to too big or very small, more frequently than being a good size!!

Hi Anne. Miss seeing more comments from you on Easy & haven't had an e-mail in awhile either. Hope you got mine about the plans for our visiting Western Oz in 2014. Do you think you could come to Perth or maybe meet us halfway between Perth & Albany? Hope all is well with you & your family.
