Shiela, we visited the Wisley Gardens on 4 July 1988. There had been a storm the day before and there was some damage to the gardens. How strange that we were so close back then.

Thanks Shiela - the shot reminded me of a view from Highway 80 (just a bit east of us).
This has been some really bizarre weather. Our daytime highs are between 55 and 65...hardly any precipitation and no snow on the horizon. I can't even go up the hill a bit and enjoy any crosscountry skiing. So bummed. Wonder if we'll have a stormy late-winter/spring?

Thank you for the birthday wishes. It has been a lovely day. Out to lunch with my family in Sydney and a phone call from the rest of my family in Melbourne.

Hello Shiela - sorry I haven't got back to you before now. Wellington (capital of New Zealand) seems to be a city all jammed together in the city centre and when I tried looking out of the hotel room window I was in, all I could see was other buildings. Auckland and Christchurch seemed more spread out and nicer to look at. I loved my two visits to N.Z., very enjoyable.

Thanks you Sheila for my birthday wishes. I've really enjoyed today ,lots of phone calls & pressies from my family & friendsand going out to tea tonight with best friends, what more could I ask for.

Shiela, I was wondering yesterday if I should call you and give you a heads up as the storm was brewing and a tornado looked inevitable. I was on the phone alerting my parents in Livonia. Then, when the storm took a right hand turn and headed south I thought of you. Glad you're safe.

Thanks for your comment. Do I understand that you are an artist ? How wonderful to have a skill like that I have always wanted to paint. I know that one can just splash colour around, but I'm afraid that to me is not art;I'm very much a traditionalist in art.
Can you show us some of your work on this site ? I'm sure we would all love to see what you have done. Cheers
