Thank you for the Birthday Wishes last week. I had dinner with Mom that evening. She then flew up to Portland, OR for a Class Reunion (68th) and flew back for the wedding on Saturday of her only grand-nephew (my cousin’s son – 41, first marriage). Mom (85) refused to take a nap after getting up at 3 am for the flight back and insisted on driving (through Los Angeles to Orange County) for the wedding – she still drives fast. By the time we got to there we were not speaking & the drive back was even worse – getting home around midnight. The wedding & reception was wonderful (so was the beach party the night before, which Mom had missed). Dad always said the reason we fight, was because we are so much alike – both strong willed women. But, we will always love each other. I left Tuesday, had a meeting in No. Calif. Wednesday afternoon, and decided to camp at Burney Falls State Park – making my dog happy, before returning home. The back is still bothering me – but no violent pains – more of the gnawing variety and when standing up after sitting too long (so there were a lot of stops on the way down and on the way home). Thanks for the good wishes – I’m safe if not sound.

Sorry I missed the SA meeting - I got home at around 1:00. I was off the road (barely) before Keith headed this way on I-5.

Now, seeing André's comment, I understand about the chocolate cake comments. It wasn't cake, it was a chocolate sculpture, one of 15 or 20 chocolate sculptures in a chocolate buffet on a cruise. Several other of the sculptures are pictured on my Flickr site. Great visit. I think my first step into RC planes should be to get the flight simulator. If you could tell me the name of the one you use, I'd appreciate it.

Hi Dave. Great shots of you, Eve Keith and Linda in your photo gallery. Looks like you had fun. Believe it or not. I live in downtown Ottawa (over a million people) and because of all the greenbelt ares here, we still see tons of animals running around here. Cheers!

Dave, we had a wonderful time in Australia and met June (a fellow Sudokuholic) and her husband. She posted some pictures on her page.

In addition to Australia, we visited the South Island of New Zealand. I'll get some pictures posted soon.

Looks like you and Linda had a nice get together with Keith and Eve. Hasn't the internet made the world so much smaller?

My parents had an extensive LP (remember those?) library and I also grew up listening to Big Bands, Jazz and classics.

Jimmy Buffett's one of my favorites. I'd discovered that clip on my own, but enjoyed seeing it again. It had added meaning since it was my birthday. Thanks. Sure hope you're around and can make it to lunch again on the 28th.

Hello Dave - Thanks for stopping by. I live about an hour North of Detroit. We are between Pontiac and Flint.

I have been playing in a Mountain Band for about 4 years. We play Old Time and Blue Grass, some gospel and some popular. We just get together to jam. We have played for the senior citizens, local town celebrations, church celebrations and nursing homes. We have a lot of fun.

Hi Dave - We had rain the other night. There is a big storm with heavy winds - so far we haven't had the wind yet and the rain is soft. There are only a few leaves left on the trees. If we catch anymore of this storm - it could clean the rest off.

If it isn't raining Wed. the 'gardener' will come in and clean the gutters/downspouts and remove all the leaves from the yard. I haven't raked them (my back couldn't handle it) - figure one time clean up and pay someone to do it.

We may get snow Thanksgiving weekend - at least that is the long range forecast. It has been brisk to chilly (at night).

That was spectacular. Does it build up again to repeat the same thing every four years or different parts of it break up? Loved the sunset photograph, the colours are wonderful. When are you next on your travels or firmly staying put for a while.

Hi Dave! Some great photos added to your page!! The video of the glacier is awesome, but sad also, as it points out how much of our northern icecap we are losing!

That is one big splash! You could see the crevase getting larger before the finale. I wish it hadn't been foggy/rainy when I was in Prince William Sound wathcing the glaciers calve. While we were having lunch, a big hunk hit the ship and really shook us.

I know you are laughing with your 80° weather down Yuma way, as I sit up here in freezing and below freezing temps. I enjoy warm baked bread & hot food in 70° temp indoors. What is this about selling your motor home. You planning on staying their year round? I hate to tell you it get's hotter than h@ll down there in the summer.
