Welcome All!

Thank you for visiting my page.

Paul and I recently married in Fiji at the Shangri-La (the Fijian). This was the first time that I had been back to Fiji since leaving when I was 4. It was even more amazing to realise that we used to holiday around the bay from the resort!

I am gradually getting the photos up on Flickr but it might end up being faster if you want to see more photos if you go to http://gallery.mac.com/rosepaul which is our personal webpage for our photos.

Christmas photos are up on Flickr!

Merry Christmas 08

Veronica, Paul, Jacques, Ariane, Elinor and Rose

Since its your birthday, I thought I'd stop by and see how Veronica was doing, which took me to your FLickr page. Is Paul your surname? It was my maiden name and I have a niece called Rose Sarah Paul.

Rose Sarah Paul
knew nothing at all
when she was still very small.
Now she is wise. I can tell from her eyes.

(Except that her Dad says it no longer applies since the said Rose Paul became a teenager!)

Hi Rose, hope you had a wonderful birthday
Ethan is doing much better and growing like a weed. he is very interactive with us all now and we get lots of smiles. still a chucker but hopefully he will grow out of that and he still gets a bit choked up with the mucous but as he gets bigger he is improving at getting rid of it.
I love your family photo and nice to see all the kids are doing so well.
VB is such a little dot but bet she keeps you busy. Does Elinor 'help' you to look after VB?
hope the wedding plans are coming along ok
cheers for now

Hi, Rose -- thanks for the welcome and stopping by my new page. You have a lovely family, and what a sweet baby picture. I am looking forward to posting our own soon. Well, not so soon really, we're due late August. (Though as I told someone else, my husband thinks it will be later... since I'm late for everything!) Have a great weekend!

Oh Rose...how awful for you [and of course VB & the 12yo ]...
I hope you have had a peaceful nana nap...Where would we be without them.
Why is it when something goes wrong the man about the house is ALWAYS out of town? I can only think of ONE occasion when hubby has been in town/around for a health crisis. I lived for 4 years with an overnight bag permanently packed by the front door ready for an emergency dash. Nerve wracking times..I really feel for you.
Do continue to vent on easy, my page or anywhere else that you need to - one of the truly amazing and wonderful benefits of being part of this 'Sudoku Clan..'

Rose: So sorry to hear about your horrible weekend. Why is it that these things always happen when Hubby leaves town? Glad to know Victoria is okay. You certainly seemed to handle things wonderfully, and right to the letter.
Now, if only you can find time for rest!
Glad you were able to unload--we in Sudokuland can't take Paul's place, but the very least we can do is listen. Unload any time. Now, about some rest.....

Dear dear Rose - what an ordeal you have been through! But once again you have proven what a tough lady you are. You must have nerves of steel. Can I nominate you for Mother of the Year? Hope VB & Ariane will have no lingering effects. Love your newest Christmas portrait & other Flickr photos. Keep smiling! Love , hugs, & prayers are coming your way from all around Sudokuland! We'll gladly lend a sympathetic ear (or is it eye?) any time you need us.

Ah, Rose, just read your post about VB and the genetic testing.

It is such a worry when looking for possible problems. Our middle child was 10 weeks prem and then sickly for the first 6 months. He was fully breastfed, but turned out to be allergic to the dairy food I was eating. As soon as I changed my diet, he started to thrive.

Putting the food on the floor and letting her graze sounds like a good idea. If she is upset at the thought of the highchair, she may sense tension about her eating patterns (kids have such sensitive radars). Good luck and keep smiling :)

Rose, so glad to hear the wonderful news of the results of genetic testing. Who knows, maybe little VB will remain a peanut (perfectly acceptable), or maybe she'll have a growth spurt at some point and surpass everyone's expectations. No matter - all those negatives are what's important! Thanks for letting us know!

Rose; what great news that VB's tests were all negative. That has to be a big relief. Unfortun-
ately, sometimes negative results only bring about more questions. I hope the endocrinologist can come up with some more answers for you. If it's any help, my firstborn was a little one. At birth he was 7lbs9oz (sorry, don't know the conversion), at 3 mos of age he was down to 6lbs.
He's now 28 years old, about 5'6" and weighs about 120 lbs. Still not very big, but okay. He was diagnosed with Schwachmann-Diamond syndrome and has been on enzyme replacement since he was 3mos old, and is doing fine. Wish you all the best. She'll eat as much as she needs.

Hi Rose, so much for finding the time to drop in to wish me happy birthday in this incredible busy life you lead.
Have really enjoyed my correspondence with your delightful daughter... what a wonderful idea to open a page for Ariane for her birthday.

Hope hubby has recovered from the latest lurgy and that next time he is home you will actually see something of him. Difficult times. If I lived closer I'd volunteer a helping hand, but I can't, so I hope you can feel my cyber hands helping you out.
Hope you have a wonderful mothers day and just for you... Chrysanthenums for mother's day!

Rose, I feel much better today It's amazing what some fluids and magnesium can do for you! I am continuing to try to get my anemia under control.

I have had rheumatoid arthritis for 45 years now, and I still find it very difficult to let others take care of me. It makes me feel deficient somehow--like I should be doing whatever somebody might want to do for me. I shall have to learn soon how to deal with it as the disability continues to take over more and more.
I am so sorry for what happened with your mother; that must have been awful for you God Bless you for getting past it.
How is Veronica doing? She is such a beautiful little girl.
Thank you again for your kind words and much appreciated thoughts.

Rose.......I will have to keep going back to my page to answer all your questions (so many of them I can almost picture your face as you were typing LOL).
OK...
The school called us because he has no history of allergy and it wasn't apparent (at that stage) what was happening...and we're literally 2 minutes away from the school. It soon became apparent what we were dealing with and by that time we had picked him up (and on our way to hospital). When you sent your message to me (Thursday night) we WERE still in hospital ........but............we were BACK in hospital !. he came home that day at about 2.30pm but by 5pm I had noticed that his lips and eyes were starting to swell again - so back we went. Apparently (1) an allergic reaction will settle with the doses of antihistimine and steroids that he was given but a (b) anaphylactic (sp?) episode will quite often have a secondary (third etc) reaction...this is how they can tell which it is and this is what he was having. yes he will have to have an epi pen from now on - one at home and one at school. Thankfully the school are very very highly trained and aware of epi pens - so I feel good about that. My biggest worry at the moment is that a reaction like this can now trigger other allergies that he's previously been OK with. He's having the full skin allergy testing done on Wednesday week and we'll at least know what we have to avoid then - in the meantime we watch and wait and be very very very careful.

unfortunately - as epi pens DO have some side effects (it's adrenalin) - GOvernment Schools are not allowed to administer an epi pen unless it has been prescribed by doctor for that student (If his life had been threatened - I'm telling you now, they wouldnt have wanted to deal with me if they didnt break the rules!)

Thanks for your concern Rose - it was pretty scary, but (as you only too well know) you just have to live with these thing when you decide to procreate!.

Dear Rose,
Thank you for your support while I have been ill. I never expected such a response from this site, everyone’s concern and caring has overwhelmed me. I can only say that it is the genuine people here who make this a very unique place to share our hopes, dreams, ups and downs. So thank you for being there.

hi Rose,
I didn't enjoy the sailing in the Whitsunday's so much because I had land lubber legs and was strangely terrified of being - 'out there'. My (then) new husband, now of 20 years was a sailor having been competing in little sailboats from boyhood, and delighted in my fear and in typical male fashion made it worse by telling me nasty things. I have done my best ever since to discourage his retirement dream of sailing around the world together, self skippered of course. I told him I would fly to each new destination and meet him there.

Hey Rose - I am happy our boys were able to oblige by winning last night so that you could get the points! Geez it was a good game...we were woeful in the first half and they must've got a right slating in the locker room at half-time because it was a different team that came out in the 2nd half! almost felt sorry for the brumbies...almost, but not quite...have the Wah's played yet? are they the only Oz team in the final play-offs? If they are, I hope they win.
Have a great weekend. x
