Glad you like my daughters. They learned to belly dance at Renaissance Faire is the 60's. My husband and I were making old fashion wooden toys for to sell. The Dickens's Fair was another one of our selling places. The Children (3) were all raised to except weekends were costume events.

G'day Kate! Haven't stopped by in awhile. Glad I got to see the Eastern Water Dragon - he's pretty cool! Looks like he sat nicely & posed for his picture! Hooray for you for coming to the rescue of your neighbor with the stopped-up toilet. Seems like those kind of things always happen when a traveling husband is away! I had the help of many good neighbors like you during the 23 years Rob was in the Navy. Bless you!

Hi Kate, your name got left off the Clivia photo on hard because it is the one I submitted. I went back and checked my original photo to make sure.
I know you generally have some wonderful photos of flowers. We must both have submitted photos of clivias.

Hi Kate, I won't be home until next week, 7th April. Did dad tell you I would be home because I got an email from him welcoming us home and for us to check his mail as they are in Canberra. The reason they went to Canberra was so that we would be away at the same time and they wouldn't be alone for so long!!!

Hi Kate
Dropping in to ask a big favour from you. I have to make a Chinese Dragon Head, for my daughters Ballet concert this year, and I know you have a photo in your collection some where, from this years Chinese New Year Parade. I was wondering if you could possibly email me a photo of the dagaon, so I have some Idea on what I'm in for.
If this is ok, just buzz me, and I'll send you my email addy.
Thanks in advance.

Kate, I love your water dragon followed by 'Puff the Magic Dragon'.
Also Laura will love feeding the fish next time she is here. (next Wednesday).
You always have some lovely photos on your page and on the puzzles pages.
I thought it a great joke that we both claimed the Clivia photo and there was no need to apologise.
I hope Maureen goes and visits the tame tigers while she is in Bangkok. My sister went about 4 weeks ago and she has the most amazing photos taken with the tigers head on her lap.

Hi Kate! I finally had some time this morning to take a look at your most recent photos. Boy, that dam (damn!) cleaning looked like a lot of hard, dirty work!! On the other hand the wedding weekend in Braidwood must have been lovely. What a pretty town & church. Am taking it the bride's family must be Scottish? You are very good at TAKING photos, but not appearing in any yourself! Was that you in the middle of your "my kids" photo? Maybe you can take a picture of your tennis gang someday. I'm guessing they may be around MY age? Bet they enjoy having some new blood (YOU!) in their group! I love it that tennis can be enjoyed by all ages & abilities. Please tell your tennis buddies the "girls" in Florida say hi!

Kate, I loved your Braidwood set. It is a lovely place and you have some great photos. One question though, what is the tartan of the kilt your dad was wearing at the wedding?

Kate, and thank you for visiting my page and all the great comments you left behind. I only make Emily's costumes when it comes to her ballet, (thank goodness). However I do make all the props that we use at our end of year concert.

Hi Kate, thanks for the party. Sorry I missed it!!! We had to wait nine and a half hours in Sydney before we could fly home to Dubbo but unfortunately I couldn't get on the internet (I tried) and I couldn't ring you either as my phone had run out of battery power as I couldn't charge it in Bangkok as I didn't have a power point adaptor for Asia. Sorry.

Hi Kate,
I thought I would be a similar vintage to your sister. I turned 51 in February this year. I don't have any siblings but my husband has 2 sisters and a brother - all older than him. He turns 49 tomorrow. I have just come back from putting on morning tea for him at his office - he is so spoiled! I baked maple syrup muffins, scones, date loaf and sausage rolls and only just made it in time for morning tea!

In 1999, I took my dream vacation to NZ in February. Spent 3 days in Auckland than tourned the North Island and then on down to the South Island, ending up in Christchurch for a couple of days before flying back to Auckland and LA (with 3 day layover - to visit parents)/San Fran/Home.

On the flight there - no layovers - and luggage didn't make it from San Fran to LA in time to be on flight to Auckland. It was a good thing I had scheduled the extra time before starting the tour - or it could have been worse than having my lost luggage delivered to be aboard a cruise ship to Alaska 3 days into a week's cruise.

Later that year in November, my Mom took me on a Kenyan Safari. Excellent trip - highly recommend. However, I do want to go back to the South Island of NZ - maybe coupled with a trip to Australia in a couple of years. I really loved the layback feeling, the people and beauty of the Island. Went down the west side, returned north on the East side - was in Queensland, Lake Teanu, Fijordland, the glaciers, a couple of train trips over the 3 weeks. Next time I will stop and see Jacksonville's sister city - which we probably passed by on the way to Christchurch.

Soory Kate, I was confused. In my head I knew you and Maureen are sisters, just got it all mixed up. Anyway, hope your parents have a great time celebrating. My mum's still not well and causing me great heartache, just wish she would drop her stubborness and get down here!!

Hi Kate, I wanted to thank you personally for your birthday greeting. I just joined, but have enjoyed this site for many years. It is the best!!! Actually, my birthday isn't until November 4th. I'm not sure where Gath got April 10th, but it made for a very special day. The timing couldn't have been better. I believe that even mistakes happen for a reason. Again, thank you for the special birthday greeting. Sudoku forever, Margot

Kate, almost!!! I was more concerned with my poor monitor! Yummy cake, too good to ignore! Your fault for the slobber all over the monitor!
Mom couldn't have been in a better place. She is given the care that she needs and the cultural activities and food that she enjoys and the Japanese speaking personnel to understand her. A bit more expensive but where she's concerned we're happy to pay it!

Thanks for stopping by, I'll trade you a pie for some of that cake.

I found it interesting that Gold was discovered in 1851 in Braidwood. Same year Gold was discovered in Jacksonville. The population during the height of the Gold Rush was 3000. We have less than that now. Many left after newer strikes were found, others settled in as farmers and businessmen. You may have noticed that a lot of the building downtown original use was a saloon. But, Peter Britt, was a Photographer and a businessman who started off by hauling freight. He also became a well known botnist and helped in the development and speciation of plants for the entire Rogue Valley.

When you here me talk about Britt this summer, you can picture me laying on the lawn watching the wonderful concerts. And like today - driving to church over the Old Stage Road - and enjoying the beautiful scenery - hard to get tired of - almost makes it worth the price of gas to drive the 40+ miles round trip to the little small old fashion church that I go to next to the Rogue River.

Hello Kate!
I don't believe that I have visited your site before. Your wedding dress is just beautiful, my sister made her wedding dress also along with my maid of honor dress so I can appreciate the amount of time (and love) that undoubtedly went into it. And my goodness about your BIL, he truly had a guardian angel with him, along with some very good friends it sounds like. Take care and thank you for sharing your photos with us.

Aimee :-)

Kate - that looks like my dog. While I was in Christchurch, I found out that they were having a Choir Reherasal that evening, so I went to hear the Organ played. The choir sang one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, it had an Irish lilt to it. I asked the organist what it was. I do not recall the exact name (should have it somewhere) something to do with the Eucharist, he said it was one of the choir's favorite.

Kate - I thought that you may be interested in some trivia about one of the photos you left a comment on. The "Nunan House" was on the market for some time, then a local won the lottery and purchased it and has converted it into a B&B. This was the third multi-million dollar lottery ticket sold in Jacksonville (a town with around only 2,500 residents) this century. The amount won $304 million - he could almost buy all of Jacksonville for that amount of money.

Hi Kate - I wanted to thank you for all of the info you gave me on Vegemite! I shared it with my aunt this evening. (My mom and dad tried it also when I received it from Kathy/Valrico.) We have never seen anything like it here in the states. It is different and it is fun to try new things! I am anxious to take it home and share it with my children and husband. I will be meeting with Shiela and Junebug Jenn soon and I intend on sharing it with them also! I am glad that tube goes a long way! Have a great day, Kate! Cheers

Hi Gail, Aimee, and Kate

Thank you so much for your kind comments (well, maybe not Gail’s reference to riots). The ‘coming of age’ trips idea came from some older (is that possible?) friends who had done the same thing for their grands.

I really appreciate the offer of accommodations on our possible trip to Australia, but you must remember that Katelyn is only 7yo and …, well, you know.

Barbara and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Australia and New Zealand in 2002 and would really like to return some day, so if we are still doing Sudoku in 2012, and Katelyn still wants to go, maybe we can work something out.

Thanks again,
Hal
