Please come in, you are most very welcome.  There is a super spread on the table of goodies brought by my other guests, please help yourself and enjoy. If you are health conscious there is carrot juice in the kitchen. The cellar is well stocked with Aussie Reds and NZ whites. Enjoy

Hi Lynda,
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm afraid the sunflowers in my opening page (not the ones in the vase) are plastic ones. They are there to add to a general impression of clutter. The clutter is real and not 'plastic'. Your home looks gorgeous and your garden is so well kept. Looks like heaven on earth to me.

I shall be spending some of my Christmas time in Sudokuland. It is a pleasant venue and the people are very friendly. I have two close friends living nearby and I shall be festivating with them and maybe other guests also; with some sharing of the seasonal cooking.

Thanks for your humorous and complimentary message, and for appointing me as your Baard.
So long as I am never, as a Baard','Baarred';
For then I would become a baarred baard and that might be difficult for me, and everyone else, to to cope with.

Hi Lynda; My sincerest wish for you and your family is to have a wonderful, joyous, blessed and Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy 2009.

Also, thanks for the help with the potatoes. Looks like I won't get them made until Christmas Eve day anyway, so not quite so much of a worry to just rfrigerate them oer night. Thanks so much.

Hi Lynda,
Every year I buy extra cherries and cook, add some sugar while hot, cool and freeze. We then just have them stewed with cream or ice cream or I do the recipe with the evaporated milk and a jelly with the cherries. Better than buying the tinned ones.
Best wishes for 2008

Lynda - There are 3 judings the first is on Dec. 30th at 1:50 (float site), the second same time on the 31st - with full animation out in the street by the float site & the third is at 3 am Jan 1 - lined up for the Parade. Thre are a multiple of different awards - Sweepstakes being the highest. The "prize" for the award is 2 boy scouts walking in front of your float with a banner announcing the award. No money, just recognition. Most of the floats are paid for by corporations, like Singapore Airlines, Honda, Dr. Pepper, some cities like St. Louis have the Budwiser Clysdale Horse pull their float & other cities. The smaller local cities and Cal-Poly University are generally the self-builts(some are just self decorated). There are around 60 floats and around 15 to 20 awards. In the United States 2 of the 3 major TV stations carry the parade plus several on cable (which re-run it 2 or 3 times). This parade is a "big deal", I think this is something like the 118th year. There are Bands from around the world, Horse riders, and the floats - totally covered with natural material - lots of roses, orchids, mums, etc.

Lynda I have no idea where I came across this tradition from. Either I was told about it or read it somewhere.
I have not been doing it long, maybe three years. I do know the first year my tall, dark man left one peace and by the end of the year we were expecting our little girl. (my husband and I--not my tall man).
The next year our friend brought a bag of coal--we had a wonderful year. I cannot remember a bad part of any of this year. So I guess we have only done it two years. I told my friend he could bring wood this year too to see what happens.

Hope you have a wonderful New Year.

Thank you very much Lynda. We have been reminiscing already. When we were having our coffee this morning, I said to hubby that at this time, 25 years ago, I was at the hairdressers getting tizzied up for the wedding. He said he was watching the Brisbane Commonwealth Games!
It was a lovely day, even if it was 42C. It was only a small do, but very romantic. I think the best wedding I have ever been to...but I think I am biased!

Thank you Lynda for your anniversary wishes. Every moment spent with my hubby is memorable. We had a lovely, albeit brief, getaway. We celebrate a lot of milestones this year, so we are hoping to be able to take an extended holiday later in the year, possibly even a cruise.

Sorry, had to get on with dinner and then eat it etc. No, I don't use a wood oven. My mum taught me how to make bread. It usually works fine, but it takes patience. :)

Sometimes they made small pizzas, and if I was in a hurry, I would make one from a whole package. You put them on a cookie sheet and baked them, the same temp. as the package calls for. Fifty years ago it was unusal to have pizzas with pineapple and rasins.
