Lynda's Place

Please come in, you are most very welcome.  There is a super spread on the table of goodies brought by my other guests, please help yourself and enjoy. If you are health conscious there is carrot juice in the kitchen. The cellar is well stocked with Aussie Reds and NZ whites. Enjoy

At a time like this, we are at a loss for words to express our condolence to someone who has lost a loved one.
How to say it to bring comfort?
How to say that we care?
How to say that we understand?
In deepest sympathy,
Rena

My deepest sympathy to Lynda's family and friends. She has left you too early, but her beauty and generosity will live in your memories. It is my prayer for you that, soon, you may think of her with smiles instead of tears. Meredith

Peter, Know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Lynda will be sorely missed. Her kindness and selfless care of those around her, especially the animals she came in contact with , will remain with me for a very long time. Life is too fleeting for some, but I believe she is now reaping the reward for sharing her life as she did with so many others.
May she rest in peace, with the full knowledge of love.

Peter, I didn't 'know' Lynda, but I felt her joy for life, her friendliness, her compassion for others and her sense of humor with her love of a good joke here on the site. Stay strong and keep her memory alive. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. ...Greg

Whenever I saw Lynda's spectacular Fairy Blue Wren avatar - it brought joy. It reminded me of the Bluebird of Happiness, which Lynda was to this site.

My condolences to Peter and all of Lynda's family. You have had the joy of sharing your life with the "Bluebird of Happiness", hold her near and dear in your hearts. Her love can never be taken away from you.

As you can tell, by all the posts - she was dear to many of us. I posted a tribute to her with her avatar and the song "Bluebird of Happiness" on my page. I hope you do not my temporary use of the photo in this memorial.

I am of course very sad; but enigmatically at the same time I am OK about Lynda because, in the company of others on the site, I am becoming reconciled to the situation. That is despite a natural tendency to doubt the reality of death, especially in the case of ‘cyber-mates’ whom one has never met in person. From my own point of view I now recognise it is very sad that I had only just got to know Lynda during the past 3 weeks, through daily exchanges of E-Mails, and so I have only recently come to recognize her qualities of deep understanding and insight. She was a very sympathetic person and always listened to and replied to all comments. She seemed to automatically and effortlessly latch on to any train of thought, attitude, humour or debate. That compassionate quality led me into a special empathy with her, and I quickly came to regard her as 'a kindred spirit'.
I am very impressed by many Sudokuland members: they are really great bunch of people: but for some reason I singled Lynda out for that special exchange of E-Mails. More likely it was she who chose me - I don't know. If she did make that choice of regularly communicating with me during her final weeks, then I hope, after she disclosed her serious illness to me or even before that, that I was as supportive of her as she finally claimed I was. I feel embarrassed that some people have singled me out for special sympathy, because I have not known Lynda for very long. The lion's share of sympathy must be extended to her devoted husband and family and friends - especially those of her friends she told me about who were afflicted by various disabilities and who she was assisting through her own experiences. Her attitude in facing up to the operation was exemplary and selfless. In that she was much more concerned about those people she might leave behind; especially her husband, than about her own welfare. She was a truly marvelous spirit and I am very grateful that I was privileged to have communicated closely and personally with her before she passed on. She has very deeply affected me.
The media often tell of brave people who face death. They often overdo it and tend to elevate un-special people to the status of sainthood. However in Lynda's case there is no doubt she was a very brave lady indeed and a wonderful person.

Lynda’s Passing

Brighter shines stardust tonight –
to illuminate her final flight;
as streetlamps on a heavenward road -
that lead her to a new abode.

Now bereft, we stare above,
trying to post our worldly love,
so Lynda can be re-assured –
in whatever harbour now she’s moored.

To us her journey home is sad.
We think back on good times we’ve had;
of compassion she once freely gave,
now consigned to earth’s dark grave.

We think of humour, repartee;
her insights over cyber-tea;
her understanding, selfless care;
her concern about how others fare.

She staked her few remaining days –
on the surgeon’s skill - that might erase -
destruction that had dimmed her eyes;
for a longer life might be her prize.

’though Lynda sang her final song,
the hand of fate proved much too strong;
But, in signing out she’s left her trace -
of humour, dignity, and grace.

Peter, I just found out about Lynda and I'm very sorry for your loss. Even though we are continents apart, I considered Lynda my friend and she was a lovely lady. I'll never forget how she brightened my daughter Bryana's day when she recieved a birthday card from Lynda with animals on it. It is still on her wall at school. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, she will be missed.

Lynda seemed to me to be a very special person. Her love for animals was shown by her rescuing those who were abandoned or suffering. I know that a couple of her dogs preceded her to heaven. I like to think that they were waiting there to greet her on the other side of the "Rainbow Bridge". My sincere sympathy to Peter & others here on Earth who will miss her so much.

THANK YOU SO MUCH to those who gathered all the comments for Lynda's tribute. Unfortunately, I only recently learned of Lynda's passing, as I was out of the country and away from computer and internet services. If Peter and Lynda's family should find this page, I would like to add my sincere condolences. We all "knew" Lynda from comments, chat, conversations, and knew she was a very special person! Lynda will surely be missed by all of us! RIP, Lynda!
