Back at Christmas time I posted the news that grandson Chase was going to become a big brother in July. I am happy to announce that his baby sister Maddox Ann Martin was born at 6:09 P.M. on July 27, 2015. She weighed 9 pounds and measured 21 1/4 inches long. We are thrilled to have a third granddaughter (the others are 19 and 16!) and six grandsons and feel very blessed.

yoo hoo , me again! You had asked about my Mom and she is much better thank you ,had her over to play scrabble last sunday and was very careful Sky didn't bump her,we put him on leash until he calmed down and then he was fine,he doesn't realize how powerful he is ,I had taken him to obedience class when he was a young pup but Carly would undo everything we did in class so if you take Ebony make sure you both are on the same page in training ,but all in all hes a great pet but is still a puppy at 1 year

Interesting, Kathy, your YouTube says 'I need to know' and you're wondering about the V you sent. To be perfectly honest, I haven't tried it yet. Hubby had cataract surgery that hadn't been planned, we did a quick visit to daughter, SIL and granddaughter, plus numerous other diversions and distractions. I don't dare let grand try it due to multiple food allergies. Also. I haven't bought any French, Italian or 'Artisan' bread to toast to use it on. Those are my excuses so far. We've also been wondering if it would be OK for pets - something to ask next time we're at the vet.
I bet things are quiet for you and Ebony after all the excitement of a week or so ago. It should allow for plenty of time for Sudoku!

Kathy thanks for dropping by, you saw the picture? Rosemary Moss and I are one of the same, it is confusing but I was given that name many years ago when I was a journalist.

Hi Kathy - I am just stopping in for a little chat. How was your trip? How is Ebony? Are you getting any rain down your way? I left a warm Rhubarb pie on the table for you. I hope you enjoy it!

Kathy, we only live a few miles apart, probably 15 to 20 minutes drive. Mary and Rola live quite close to one another, I live a bit further out from the city in a semi rural area. I only ever worked as a paid journo in UK, freelance. That was back in the 1960's.
We have recently lost both our dogs to cancer and I follow your posts regarding Ebony with feelings something akin to 'wish it was me'. Will have to go to the dog's home soon.

Hi Kathy - It was good to hear from you! Here is the latest! Jenny now has her driver's license. I am so excited! Can you tell? She had her last dance recital on Friday. She has been taking 'Hip-Hop' for the past 4 years and has loved it. Jenny was hired by K-Mart last week. She hopes to start school this Fall at the Community College and get her 'basics' there.
Rick and I have been kicking around the idea of spending August in Virginia near our property. (He retired this time last year.) This is a major step for us. Our next step will be to rent a place for a year. We don't want to sell our house until we are really sure we want to live there permanently.
Friday we are meeting my sister over on Lake Michigan and have a picnic with her on the beach. (She lives near Chicago.) Then we are bringing my neice home with us to spend a couple of weeks. (She is 13 years old.) We live in the country and she lives in town, so it will be very different for her!
Have a great day!

Hi, Kathy! As a matter of fact, the last time I made this pie, I added strawberries. Rhubarb has gotten so expensive!!! When we lived in PA, we had a giant rhubarb patch, so we made rhubarb pie all the time. In fact, we called it 'poverty pie' because that was about the only dessert we had back then. We were newly married and had just bought our first house.

Kathy - My mom use to make her pie crust with oil as she has high cholesterol. I know using oil is a lot more tricky than using shortening. My mom hasn't cooked much in the last year and a half. When she did cook, she was an excellent cook.
Do you still have relatives here in Michigan? If you ever come up this way, let me know. I live about 15 miles out of Pontiac.

Debby - I had to pull out a map of Michigan to refresh my memory on where Pontiac is! Rob's brother lives in Chelsea & has a sailboat he keeps at a marina in Whitehall. I also have a cousin who lives in Lansing. That's where we went to the graduation party. Next time we go to Michigan I'll let you know. Did you see Jane's recipe for rhubarb pie with the ''press in'' crust on the recipe page? I think I might even be able to handle that one. I like that it's made with canola oil, too.

Kathy unfortunately there are far too many abandoned animals' homes around Perth, just after Christmas thousands of dogs and cats are dumped. Some people dump dogs they have had for years rather than kennel them when they go on holiday! Each birthday my husband and I don't have presents, we ask people to donate to one of the animal refuges instead. Better than having gifts we don't want or need! Love to Ebony.

Hi Kathy - I know right where Whitehall is. I was born over on that side of the state (Hart)and my dad's family is from over there (Pentwater). I think that is why I like the water so much.
We live about 45 minutes Northeast of Chelsea. Chelsea is a very pretty area and it is growing fast.
It would be wonderful to meet you in person if you come to Michigan. I was so sorry I left Florida just a few weeks before the meeting in Punta Gorda as my parents live about 10 miles south of there. We usually take Burnt Store Road to get to I-75. It is closer.
Yes, I did get Jane's recipe and I intend on making it. We have our own Rhubarb and if you keep picking it, it grows all summer.
Have a great day!

To Shruti - the website where we found our B & B's in Switzerland is www.bnb.ch CH is the abbreviation for Switzerland - I don't know how they came up with that! Anyway these places aren't fancy, but they are clean, reasonably priced, & staffed by very friendly people who also prepare very delicious breakfasts! We like having a chance to get to know other travelers & asking them what places they have particularly enjoyed. The website will give you information on each place with details right down to whether or not there are train stations nearby. The ones we stayed at were the Joller place in Hergiswil south of Luzern & the Kuffer-Bernhard place in Worb southeast of Bern. We did not stay in any near Interlochen, but I see there are quite a few on the map (middle section, bottom row). If I can answer any other questions for you, please let me know. I'd recommend getting a good guide like Frommer's or similar (plenty available at the library if you don't want to buy one!) to read BEFORE you go & then take with you for reviewing when you get there. When are you leaving? How many traveling with you?

Hi again Kathy. You have stumped me in terms of the problem with your smiles. The only thing I can think of that might affect it would be the font size you use or the pixle size for your screen setting. If I could see the problem....

Kathy, I put up the Sunbonnet Sue quilt on my page, if you want to check it out. I forgot to put the size in the discription, shucks. Ok it is 52x60, a good size for a lap quilt for someone spending a lot of time in their recliner like Mom was when I made it for her.

Kathy, Monster is a dog that is claimed by my husband and my son Peyton but my son is in school in New York and Monster is a Texas dog. They think he is just amazing. Peyton was about 13 when we got him and he wanted him to be 'tuff' since he knew that Monster would probably be a small dog. Self fulfilling prophecy, Monster lives up to his name! He is pretty tuff around other dogs but sweet (or scared) of his 5 lb. wife, Peaches! Any pets in your household?

Hi, Kathy!
Thanks for your note. We had a wonderful time at Neptune. Discovered some new restaurants and spent lots of time on the beach. We had a few intermittant showers, so then we went back to the room to watch Wimbledon. There was no downside! On Thursday, after checking out of the hotel, we had lunch with an old high school friend who lives in JAX Beach. Then on our way home, we stopped at Fernandina Beach (on Amelia Island) for dinner with some other friends at our very favorite restaurant which, unfortunately, will close its doors forever after Labor Day (a condo will take its place. Drat!)
So far, I've been too busy to miss the tennis, but there's lots going on. Although our team tennis takes place in the spring and fall, we have 'drop-in' tennis on Thursday nights during the summer and three round-robin tournaments scheduled at the Jekyll Island Tennis Center (all clay courts). We already had our June tournament (I played and shouldn't have!), and the others are scheduled for July 21 and August 18. You and Rob should come up for one of them!
I have an appointment with a sports med doc next Friday to check out my hand. He's actually an A-level member of my league, so I know he'll take good care of me!
I love the picture of your daughters and grandkids. And it looks like Ebony has fully recovered!
Take care!

Hi Kathy - Thank you for your visit. Your family is beautiful! Look at all the grandchildren! I bet they had a lot of fun! It looks like they enjoyed Ebony, too.
Lake Michigan is very pretty! There were 'white caps' on the Lake the other day. We watched a small sailboat go out and it wasn't very long before they came back and took the boat out of the water. Jenny and her cousins went into the water, but it was cold! I didn't want to see them go in very far. When it is rough like that, I am afraid of 'undertoes.' It can pull you out deeper quick.
It is cool here today. Current temperature 65 deg. (F) Warm weather is on its way! By Tuesday it is suppose to be back up in the 80's.

KATHY, I have one quilt in progress, but it is fast becomming a UFO ( Unfinished object) Unable to work on it at the moment, hopefully I can again soon. It is an embroidery, bluework, flowers set in an attic windows setting. Very nearly done, it is a qult as you go and the center 16 blocks and sashing to gether and quilted, needs borders now.
Love the photo of you and the grands, and daughters? on your page, nice looking family. I am sure they kept you very busy while you were at the beach with them. Lovely memories for the grands.

Yes, finally Arthur makes his appearance (after a frustrating hour with my husband trying to figure out Flickr; pictures of Spike and Holmes will get on the page eventually). Healthwise, he's great now, but we keep a bag of IV fluid in the fridge just in case there's another emergency (would have to get it to room temp. first, of course, before administering it). I love your family photo--what a happy-looking clan, but in that setting, who wouldn't be? Cheers to you and yours, and hope you have a wonderful Fourth!

Yes, me too, love sunset time, probably because I'm definitely not an early bird. And evening time is great -- can just sit back and relax.
Sorry, I forgot to mention country, when was signing up -- it is Alexandria Egypt. You could see me posting before as 'Vera from Alx Egypt'.
Love the picture of your family, they are sure look like a lot of fun.
Wish you a happy Independence Day.

Hi, Kathy! I don't know if you saw my message of July 1 (about 7 up from this one), but I was serious about inviting you (and any of your friends who might be interested) to come up for one or both of my league's round robins at Jekyll Island Tennis Center this summer. That would be a blast! Have a great 4th of July!
