Hello Cyn - just dropping in to thank you and Colin for the lovely birthday wishes for my birthday last Friday.
I had a lovely day from start to finish with numerous 'phone calls, cards and presents which included FOUR boxes of chocolates, one being Rogers mint chocolates from Greg in Canada. I was indeed a very lucky "girl"!

Hi Cynthia, Thank you for your kind thoughts. Reggie is feeling a bit sorry for himself. He has about 8-9 stitches in a couple of places. I am feeling a bit sorry for myself too. My shoulder hurts from when he tried to escape from the dog and took me too and my leg has a gigantic bruise just above the knee. Most of all though is that I feel really bad that I couldn't help him. All I could do was kick that mongrel dog in the hope he would release him.

Kevin took Reggie and I for a walk yesterday afternoon and we were all very cautious. We made him sit and wait for all the other dogs to go past. Reggie seems ok but he certainly wants to be near us. Poor baby!

Thank you for the 40th anniversary wishes! We had a wonderful day celebrating with our friends and family. Even my 93 year old mother came 200 miles to join in on our day! A day to treasure, to be sure!

thanks for dropping by and for your welcome wishes. We had a fantastic time on Sunday and it was lovely meeting you two, too. Robert is not normally the socialite to start with. It normally takes him a bit of a while to mingle. He would normally choose to sit in a corner rather than socialise on the "first date". So, a huge thanks to Col as well for "putting up with him". No, car 54 hasn't posted yet, but she did check it out just before. There wasn't really anyone around. No, I didn't post to check, I just saw that it was over half an hour since anyone posted, so I figured that everyone had gone. I'll try again later, or tomorrow.

I had a wonderful birthday. I often end up celebrating my birthday while away at the Indy 500 car race and so stretch it out a bit further than the fantastic two-days in Sudokuland. I finally finished up last night celebrating with family (...my two sons, their wives and my 3 year-old and 4 month-old grandsons.)!!!

Oh, CynB - don't go on and on. It's okay, really. I wasn't offended. It was just on my mind because I had just realized and reported my 1st year anniversary on the site. (And what am I anyway, chopped liver? lol)
No, actually, my membership of 1 year supported what you were saying with your post, that you couldn't think of regular posters who joined since mid-2008. Part of the reason for my post was to chime and and say that I belonged in that group.
Personally, I think it has nothing to do with this site and everything to do with the mushrooming rise in Facebook memberships during the same time period.
All this introspection about the site doesn't mean anything, I think, although it got me rattled to start with.
After freaking out that I wasn't witty enough or bold enough to banter harder than I do, worrying that people didn't like me after all, I realized that the pouting was from a few complaining that so many people wanted to see kindness permeate the regular Easy postings.
Even the "catfighting" is obviously both in bounds and in jest (and enjoyed and confined to those who participate).
It's the kindness that I think sets this site off as different than other "open" sites. There is so much bad-mouthing and intellectual snobbery and political bashing and sexual shock language on other sites that this is a very nice haven to find others who want to keep the relational bar high.
If some people regret the cry to "be nice" there are thousands of other cackle and crackle websites for them to frequent instead.
There are very, very few places like Sudokuland, and instead of running away from the bullies, I'll stay and defend the little chunk of heaven I've found and helped carve out for myself.

Like others I have lost 2 friends to leukemia, and my next door neighbours lost their son in a car accident when he was in his 20s. It is almost unbearable to think about and I'm glad you shared her (and your) pain with us.
