That is a very touching story. Makes for wonderful memories. Chica is a rat terrier and me second dog is a mini pincher. Have you ever read the book by John Grogan, Marley. It's a geat book about what a pet can mean to a family. Have you always lived in Florida? I have always lived in Texas. Nice hearing from you again.

Chica and Rascal say Hi. I have a stepson who lives in Austin and his ex wife their three children live somewhere close to Corpus Christi. I haven't seen them in awhile. Florida is on the list of places I would like to visit. I love to fish and I bet there is great fishing there.

Tami, I never had a snow day, either, and I grew up in Michigan! And I know all about counting the days ... I was a teacher, too ... Have a great school year!

Well it was a big relief to hear Fay was only a tropical storm!!!!! My mom and day sat in their living room through Charley with winds up to 140 miles/hour. I asked them why didn't they go to a closet? They said they wanted to see what was going on!!!! Of course, they said Fay was "nothing!" I am so glad everyone is "safe and sound!"

I'm grateful for the advice, Tami! Tomboy here, too, and still am! Our three grandsons are a lot of fun, but we do enjoy time with our grandaughter, too! I'm travelling the world today wishing Happy Birthday to you - I'm in Chicago and I'm still on the Baseball train - now that the White Sox made it into the playoffs - Chicago is going crazy. I thought I would answer here, as it's not likely everyone is interested. Hubby's Mom's parents were apparently from what is now Hungary, and his Dad's parents were apparently from what is now Croatia. I believe it was all "Austrian Empire" when they left.

Tami, you are so right about our pets giving us unconditional love. Scrap always hated being put into the carrier to go to the vet but would always still give me a leg rub as soon as he got home again!
He really was a sweety, and although I will miss him, it really was the kindest thing I could do for him in the end.
