Giddy Ian,

I had quite a spell when I didn't come to Sudokoland at all or at least very spasmodically. .. and then when I did, I completely missed your comment about Buckleys& Nunn. Great little bit of trivia.

I've had a WEEKEND at home (and no guests staying) which has been quite a joy... and a chance to hit the Sudoku pages this weekend.
Hope that you and Anne are doing well.

What's more, I don't have to travel again until Tuesday week.

Blessings Fi

Hi Ian! Enjoy your trip to Cowra. We were there on the Monday of the June Long Weekend having been down to The Air Show at the Temora Aviation Museum for my Dad's 70th (he's a rtired aircraft maintenance engineer coincidentally also called Ian). I was posting our pictures about the time your photo of the bonsai house at the Gardens came up from your last visit. Our series is now beginning - there's quite a few coming of Cowra!

Hi Ian. Wow it is so long since I have really been here. Not my finest year to put it mildly. I was diagnosed with cancer in the neck at the end of last year. I have been going through Chemo and radiation at the begining of the year and have basically been hibernating and trying to recover ever since.
Thank you so much for the lovely birthday wishes.
A slice of cake for you to enjoy with a nice cup of coffee or tea.. or whatever you prefer.

Ian, well it is the "troppo" or "mango madness" season Ian .. The build up is surely here. Can't quite explain myself except to say that Anne from Albany was here in Darwin last night and we went out for tea at the sailing club. We also rang Greg. ... I came home... it was 11.28 pm - 2 mins before change over ... I had just enough time to google translate good night... copy , paste ... and the rest is history Fond regards to Anne and yourself.. . Last night brought back memories from when you visited. We were chatting about you.

Ian, I say your comment regarding Route 66. I found this website that is helpful, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_66
here is a couple other sites you might enjoy.

I love it at Nelson's Bay - the calm waters of the bay and the beaches are there as well. We are hoping my sister will be there for a while to come. I suppose it all depends on where Mark gets posted to next. They turned Canberra down last time so they could stay where they are. There were even threats of a transfer to Tindal recently. I think they would chose Melbourne over Canberra - if there was a choice.
I don't think there's any hope of a posting back at Amberley though.
Ask my husband - he'll tell you there's no hope for me. I actually think it's his sense of humour that has rubbed off on me.

Hello Ian! I came over to see the dust storm and got a quick peek at rest of your pictures. (I have "dial-up" to it took a while.) You have some very beautiful pictures and it was a lot of fun looking at them. Thanks for sharing!!!

Hello Ian - thank you for visiting My Gallery and for your lovely comments regarding my photos. I had a wonderful time on the ten day coach trip and the Kimberleys were above expectations. The highlight of the trip was the visit to the Bungle Bungle; the flight over them and the trek through them was absolutely awesome!
I also met up with Fiona in Darwin so that was another highlight of my trip. We had tea at the sailing club and it was an enjoyable evening.
Cheers
Anne

Hi Ian... are you due for a trip south to see your family?
The end of the month is a good time and you can combine it with our Halloween party!
If not I hope you can make it to Junes for her BBQ when we do a flying visit to Sydney on the 7th.

Ian, thanks for your reply about the cycads/palms. I had done a little poking around on the web and had come up with nothing. I had been wondering whether if I ever saw one, I could tell the difference. We have a lot of palms around here.

I really enjoy your pictures. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Barb

Ian, thank you so much for stopping by to look at my photos. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.
For this Christmas I had the photo "Maiden Voyage" enlarged and printed on metallic paper to give to my daughter and her hubby. . . I wish you could see it. I am beaming from ear to ear. I can hardly believe I was the one behind the camera.
Again, thank you. . . Wishing you and yours the best for the Holidays and for the New Year.
Hugs. . . . ♥

Thank you for the birthday wishes. It was a quiet day as Ken was in Vietnam (he also went to Myanmar and now going to Singapore and home Tuesday. I am going to Melbourne tomorrow to mind one of the grandsons.
We are off to Egypt and Jordan on 3 Feb. I have arranged to see Wagdy while we are there.

Ian - your travels looked like so much fun...especially the microflight! I sure hope it cools down for you soon. 109 is way beyond comfortable. We are snowing here again this morning and just loving it. Today our power is on and steady...makes it more fun to enjoy the stormy weather outside. Big hugs to you and Anne!

Dear Ian and Anne
Thank you so much for the lovely birthday wishes. I've had a few lovely surprises and just having birthdays makes it special.
Some friends and I will be trying out a new local winery tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that, and having tea at my daughter's place this evening.
Love to you both.

I was doing jigsaw puzzles online, and saw your comment of one year ago today, that you try to do the puzzle in a minimum number of moves.
I also try to get the minimum number.
I think you are correct in that the minimum number of touches/moves that can be achieved is 15, and only then when one of the pieces is in a place where it goes unmoved; the rest of the pieces then attached to it, like a foundation.
Thus, the trick to "15" is to find the piece that can be used as 'bedrock'.
