Hello Ian and Anne, and thank you both for your kind birthday wishes! I did have a very special day (or 2). Dinner with 2 of the Sydney living kiddos (and hubby) at Capitan Torres, then the most marvellous Carole King and James Taylor concert, a birthday breakie with daughter 3, candles at a work morning tea, and dinner out with friends!!! Greetings from my Sudoku friends put the icing on the cake. I feel sooo spoiled, so thanks again Bluey

Glad to see another of your famously challenging puzzles again (the "Jigsaw" forest). I'm catching up - missed a lot of time to do puzzles, but am enjoying it once again! Guess I'll have more time to do them after the beginning of June - I have finally admitted that my bad knee has gone beyond a mere inconvenience to noticeable pain and hindrance, so will have a replacement surgery done - not looking forward to this! I just will try to be a good patient to my caregivers and not a pain in the tookus. Sigh! Hope I come across more of your puzzles as I catch up!

I will gladly cede the podium for you whenever you ask. I won't even make snide comments like "age before beauty."

hi Ian. Thought I'd better check my page and found a couple of messages from you. I recently did a 4 day retreat at the Nan Thien temple. Their accomodation is very comfortable and their food is delicious. Any one can book in.
I'm thinking of starting a photography project (just for fun) called 11.30. The idea is to take a photo from wherever I happen to be at 11.30 am. Other main rule is not to move from the spot I'm standing (or, more likely) sitting in. I haven't actually started yet cos I forget to keep my camera on me. There is so much beauty around us if we stop to see it.

Hello Ian
I just put this comment on the hard jigsaw page and cut and pasted it to put on your page in case you didn't see it on there.
"I believe any photos submitted to the sudoku pages automatically get shown on jigsaws first. If I remember rightly, Gath posted a message about it a long time ago."
I hope you and Anne are both keeping well.
Cheers
Anne

Ian - thanks so much for the kind words. This has been a harrowing experience to say the least! Because Jaime can't have any more open-heart surgery, there was no back-up plan had the stent insertion gone wrong! Anyway, all is well so far, and the research I've done on the minimally-invasive valve repair procedure is encouraging! ♥Jane

Ian - thanks for stopping by! So interesting that you mention that about the gums. I have never liked Eucalyptus (that's what we call them in the states) trees here. I wondered how I would feel about them when I came to visit. I fell absolutely in love with the bush and the gums that populate it. The white gums are my favorites. Now I have a fondness for them when I travel to lower elevations here and see them.

Hello Ian, just read your comment about you being ADC to the GG back in the 60's. My mother's cousin Nelle, was married to Murray Tyrell (later 'Sir') who was Secretary to a number of GGs back then, and whom we often used to visit when I was but a child! We may have crossed paths before Sudoku.

No, I am afraid that this generation is not nearly as good at keeping in touch as our elders were, in spite of all the electronic mediums available. We used to see them a bit when we lived in Queanbeyan as Murray and Nelle (Ellen spelt backwards) moved into a duplex in the same street as us when she first became ill, maybe the latish 80s. There was a boy too I think. Our children used to treat Murray as an old uncle, and he always had sweets in the corner cupboard for them. We moved to the New England in 1993, and on our first visit back his unit was up for sale, and we later heard he passed away the following July. Nelle and my mother were both Greig's before their marriages, and shared a grandfather, but even Mum has been gone since 1999. I am glad you remember them though, and it brought back pleasant memories for me also.
