Hello Jim - Your dad sounds like he was a great man! Your mom and dad had a long marriage! That says a lot for a person. It will be a very lonely time for your mom. You and your family will continue to be my prayers.

Thanks to all for your kind words.
We're running around scheduling services, putting the house back together, etc. Dad started with a stroke about 5 years ago, and has been slowly draining away. Mom is coping well, but I'm busy with phone calls, fixing things around the house, etc. My brother and his wife, and my wife & kids will arrive next week. Lots more to get done. We're in Orange County, CA.

I'm sorry for you loss. Please remember that we're here for you. If not physically but cyberly we are here and that you're not alone. Keep with us because in our bumbling ways we'll bring a smile on your face and realization that you are cherished.

I'm sure your Mom appreciates everything you are doing and have done, Jim. I know your Dad would be proud of you.

Jim, so sorry to hear that you lost your Father my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Hello Jim - I was just reading your comment about riding your bike. My son is about to take off on his Harley to ride around Australia by himself. I'd much rather he had a mate with him, but none of them were forthcoming.
He plans to take about 2-3months and see former work mates around the place. He's already seen most of Australia except Queensland & NSW, although he has been to Sydney.

I wish him the best of luck. Another mate is always best, but sometimes you just gotta go anyway. My bike ('69 Triumph 500) is not a real road bike for travelling. It's like sailing: it's not for getting from point "A" to "B"--the fun is in the actual drive (getting there)..!

Hello Jim - my son goes to America next month to ride Route 66. He had originally planned on going by himself due to lack of friends wanting to do the trip, but is now going with a small tour group from Australia. I believe they hire the motorbikes as he was always wanting to take his own for the ride.

Thanks for the tip, but he buys his own beer - I wouldn't know what he wants!
Once upon a time he brewed his own, & I did know back then which brand of home brew I should get. I used to also track it down when it started disappearing from the supermarket I used! Now he gets his own bottled stuff - he's been too busy to brew beer. Maybe when we get settled on the River he might start brewing again!
