Oh my....'for it wont' = 'why it wont'....makes for a little better read. As for the poor spacing...its not me, but my keyboard....honest it is...I don't always see it before I send, but it really stands out afterwards.

jamie, I'm looking for sites that (1) will brush up his multiplication and division and (2) will help him with junior secondary maths... algebra, introductory trig, geometry, stats. Any help appreciated. His school phobia is related to the fact that his maths is so far behind he is ashamed of himself. I am going to give him some one-to-one tutoring. His school will fill me in on what is expected for his level (year 9). I used to teach at this level a long time ago. If I can find sites that will build his skills with instant feedback, that would help.

Thanks for answering so fast! Thought it was math, but couldn't remember for sure :) Math was my fav, and is my daughter's least fav.

I made the M&M costume and it was a huge hit with her friends.

Jamie, hi! Hope you and your family have a memorable Thanksgiving Day! I'm slowly and quietly going insane with all the preparations for a dinner for over 20 people. After this then I can do my homework - I got selected to train the mentors for the BTSA (Beginning Teachers, Support and Assessment) Here in California the new teachers can get their cleared credential only through this 2 year program. Each new teacher is assigned to a support provider (SP) who will help and sign off the portfolio that they must make. So I get to work with the SP's. I finish my training Nov 30 and the following day I get to facilitate a conference. Quick turn over!

Hi Jamie! You seem to be spending a lot more time on the site lately. Gearing up for retirement, or just filling in time until retirement? Nice photo of Mocha! Cheers!

Hi Jamie, just read your pecan pie recipe on the recipe page - I love pecan pie, but I'm not sure if we have corn syrup, let alone in two different colours. Any idea if it has an equivalent? I wondered about treacle or golden syrup, which (I think) are both sugar based. and by the way ....

Have yu tryed putting in one silly question. One of my teachers always included One question that you could make up a strange answer. It made test time interesting.

Hi Jamie, I have one more week of school to go before our long summer holidays, then I'm planning a bit of cooking, so will give the pecan pie a try then. Kathy from Maryland has also posted a clam chowder recipe for me, so I'll let you both know how they go!! (Thanks for your research - I guess I should have thought of that myself - I must need a holiday!)

Hope that you and your family have a safe and happy Christmas,

Hi Jamie, a couple of weeks ago I was reading the comments and you were discussing retirement. I meant to come visit your page then, but somehow just didn't get around to it...

I'm a retired teacher and loving every minute of it! Every once in a while I miss the challenge that the classroom presents and the camaraderie of my staff, but I love all the time I now have to spend with my family, travel, and just putter (I'm a born putterer).

I worked at a very small, rural school with a very tight-knit staff. We were awarded the distinction of being a Blue Ribbon School just as I left - which made leaving difficult. I wanted to continue being part of the team, but the lure of my first grandchild, having time to travel, and sometimes just being tired of feeling tired all the time tipped the scale. I retired and have never regretted it. I still see my teaching friends. I love them and we'll always be friends -- some things don't change with retirement!

Anyway, if you're thinking of retiring don't be afraid! I've found it easy keep busy and enjoy being so much more relaxed!

Happy Holidays.
Linda

Jamie - it looks like his jacket is vinyl - did someone make it for him, or did you buy one and add the cuffs, etc.

Good looking fellow. Don't let him say HO HO HO - he may get arrested.
