I just read you post on the chat room forum. Your misgivings are mis-directed. The only people in the chatroom are denizens of the game who have given up heart, soul and mind to become members either supporting or otherwise. If you click on the chatroom page and there is no one listed, there is no one there. If people are using it, their user names are always listed, i.e. if I were sitting there waiting for someone to join me it would list jeb as being in the chat room. Best advice is to jump right in if you see the room is occupied. if there are several people, it can become a little nerve wracking at first as the convo and threads move quite rapidly, but it is fun. Hope to see you in there some time.

CynB, thank you for your offer. I have been reading about dementia, and as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, I get to see retirement homes etc. first hand. For now, Mum is fine at home, but I can see the memory and processing skills declining. I help her as much as I can, with meals, cleaning etc. It's the least I can do. Hopefully one day I will find this easier to cope with.

G'day CynB! Stopped by to tell you I love your orchid avatar & smiling dog smilie! Then I found your family photos in the gallery & enjoyed looking at those, too. When was your 60th? I either missed it or I just forgot when it was! I am so sorry about your not being able to see your son's three darling daughters. That must be very hard for you. Even if the DIL doesn't like you, couldn't your son bring the girls to see you now & then? How can he cheat them out of spending time with their grandmother - a great loss for them. You seem like such a lovely & loving lady.

Thank you Cynthia for your kind thoughts, it has really helped to share my pain with so many lovely people. The hardest thing is when I drive into my garage and suddenly realise she won't be waiting for me. I'm sure each day will get a little easier but right now, it's still awful.

I laughed when I read your comment on easy...I'm so glad that Gail hasn't worked out how to get the photos from her phone onto her page!!!
That is what is one of the many good things about this site....our judgments are not made on visual impressions of a person but from glimpses into their soul from what they write.
Don't think I would really want to be young and beautiful again but the subtraction of a few years and more than a few pounds wouldn't go astray 'cause there is so much I still want to do!!!

it is obvious that you and I will have to start our own naughty corner where we can tell risque jokes!!

A woman and her boyfriend are out having a few drinks. While they're sitting there having a good time together she starts talking about this really great new drink.

The more she talks about it, the more excited she gets, and starts trying to talk her boyfriend into having one. After a while he gives in and lets her order the drink for him. The bartender brings the drink and puts the following on the bar -- a saltshaker, a shot of Baileys, and a shot of lime juice.

The boyfriend looks at the items quizzically and the woman explains, "First you put a bit of the salt on your tongue, next you drink the shot of Baileys and hold it in your mouth, and finally you drink then lime juice."

So, the boyfriend, trying to go along and please her, goes for it. He puts the salt on his tongue -- salty but OK. He drinks the shot of Baileys - smooth, rich, cool, very pleasant. He thinks - this is okay.

Finally he picks up the lime juice and drinks it.... In one second the sharp lime taste hits.... at two seconds the Baileys curdles.... at three seconds the salty curdled bitter taste hits.

This triggers his gag reflex but being manly, and not wanting to disappoint this girlfriend, he swallows the now nasty drink. When he finally chokes it down he turns to his girlfriend, and says, "What the hell do you call that drink?"

She smiles widely and says, "Blow Job Revenge."

Hi CynB:
The proposed price hike to 10 pound per pack in UK has only been 'proposed'. I don't think it will take effect. The idea is explained in terms of cost stopping addicts. This may explain why the government here has for a long time been so adament in denying that cigarette smoking is addictive. After all it would be immoral to tax addicts, and the government must be regarded as occupying moral high ground even if it is actually observed to be drowning in an abyss of immorality flooded by ever-rising world oceans. As rebuff; how about 10 pound per gallon for petrol?

Dear CynB,
Thank you so much for your kind words. They were truly appreciated. My dad and I prepared for this eventuality a few years ago when we saw my mom's deterioration to Alzheimers. Now I have to convince my baby bro of the reality it's time. Still there is an inner child in me who is crying and a mature adult in me who is hushing her so that I can go on with the responsibilities I know I must carry out. Thank you again, my dear friend for being there.

Thank you for your sweet comments on Mum's painting. I've passed them on to her... She has sold her second at the gallery already and is feeling very proud of herself... I think these are the first she's sold in a gallery, though she has sold some at markets.

Thank you Cyn for the comment regarding my avatars. I am pleased as Punch and quite proud of myself (alright, hubby did most of the work...but I was there!). The white cockatoo is actually a photo I took of one of a pair who were on my verandah then up in the gum trees. Now that I am proud of!

Thanks, Cyn, for the hug - I really appreciate the warmth. What happened was the mother of a close friend died yesterday; she had been a big part of our lives. Then this afternoon we all gathered with the family and everybody hugged and it hurt less. We plan a memorial type of service for her; she was a writer and we will read some of her things to honor her. So I am better with hugs from near and far!
