Cynthia, a very happy birthday to you (although I'm not sure if your birthday is 1/16/08 or 1/15/08 (it is still 1/15 here). I see that you like to work with mosiacs. I saw the most astounding mosiac work of art this weekend. It was actually the whole outside of a storefront. The detail was an outside scene with trees, flowers, birds, and the sky. I found it in a normal neighborhood area and the store itself was nothing special, except for the front. We can have harsh winters here so I was concerned how that will affect it. Anyway, it just goes to show that you can find random examples of beautiful art anywhere, if you just keep your eyes open to it.

Again, take care and have a beautiful birthday,
Aimee :~)

Hi Cynthia, hope you have a wonderful birthday and not to wet a one! Do I read above that is is a very special one! (60). Hate to tell you this but you will now find that there are not as many hours in the day any more ,now as many weeks in the years. Life starts going by all too quickly so make the most of your special day.

Happy happy birthday Cynthia! I added some extra cakes, flowers etc. for Kathy (MD) so you have enough to go around! Maybe when the site gets settled, Gath can add some beer bottle and champagne bottle smilies! Time to go do the puzzle, read the posts and catch up on what's been going on. Have a great day!

Hi, CynB! I'm dropping by to wish you a belated Now that the site seems more stable, I remembered that I was trying to post to you when things went dead for me. The back arrow didn't work, nor could I get back on the site. I hope you had a wonderful birthday, in spite of the site issues!

CynB, saw your post about your Mom not getting her Rum at bedtime. Here, if a doc orders it, even in a skilled nursing home or assisted living, they get it. since one drink a day has been shown to be medicinal ( attacks the bad free radicals, helps with memory, combats alzheimers) doctors can now justify a night cap again.

Might be worth a try to ask her doc, if she is able to enjoy her rum still.

Some facilities and some doctors are more linient than others. At Mom's assisted living , we took her a little sip of her scotch when we visited evenings, staff just ignored us, and we did not have to have a doctors order.

CynB, so sorry your mom is so far advanced she has forgotten she liked her taste of rum at night. Once they forget so much, it is really the family that suffers so very much, seeing the losses continue to occur. I hope I did not offend with my remarks, but I did not know.

Hi, CynB! Labradoodles (cross between Labs and Poodles) were developed as mostly non-shedding assistance dogs for people with allergies. In additions to poodles as being non-shedders, there are Portuguese Water Dogs. They have hair, not fur. Have you tried googling non-shed or non-allergy dogs?

Cane toads are a pest here in Florida as well, but I must complain about you blaming we Yanks/Hawaiians for the infestation in Oz!
Cane toads are not native to Hawaii, nor were they brought to Australia from there. They are from Central & South America. See Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cane_Toad
specifically note 13, which reads:
Lampo, M.; De Leo, G.A. (1998). "The Invasion Ecology of the Toad Bufo marinus: from South America to Australia". Ecological Applications 8(2): 288–296.

Great to read that you will try to help koalas! I was not really upset about the cane toads, just thought they came from South America. I know that the darned cane toads recently came into my region and have really hurt the other frogs and toads. I read in the newspaper that cane toad tadpoles ate other frogs tadpoles! I will keep helping the sea turtles, today I helped weigh and measure two loggerheads and one green turtle. Check out our blog: http://70.47.137.98/ that is where the staff of the Marinelife Center posts news about sea turtles. Scroll down to the eighth photo and see me making a funny face!

CynB, I had to write to you. I couldn't help it. The devil made me do it! I know I can be a real in the , ooops, almost did it again. I know you'll forgive me cuz you worship the quicksand I stand on!
Seriously, be mindful of the pain, if it continues, you do need to see a doctor. My friend had a similar accident and now must sit on a cushion to prevent further pain sitting. So be careful!

Hi, it's O.K about floodgates, we left more than a year ago, it was my decision to leave. He turned to drugs and became violent, I'm not ashamed or feel any guilt over his actions. The children and I are much happier now and have better life. I don't mind talking about it. Helps to talk and realise I'm not at fault but he is. We are in amuch better place now. Thank you for your concern.

Hi CynB...another recipe from Susan's Gourmet Kitchen....Last night I tried Meditteranean Meatballs (Maggi) just add tinned crushed/ chopped tomatoes and water, with your own rossoles ..beautiful. I love all those types of packets that can something very ordinary into something quite exotic. Why spend hours in the kitchen if you hate cooking when you can do it this way and impress your family with your culinary skills? Hide the packet from them. hehe
