Hi Sue, what have you done to yourself? I have been a bit out of the loop lately and your message to me left me with more questions than answers. Whatever it is I hope you are recovering well and the doctors give you the OK. And what was the little gift you were talking about - new camera perhaps?

Yes I gave Kara her name in 1969 and she was given three names Kara Lynn Mirette...A lot of people called her Kara Lynn and she did not like her name either when she was little...Today she signs Kara...with pride!
She is 5'8'' and I am 5' 5. How tall are you?
I made up Kara's name out Karen ...at that time my brother was quite against it...but my husband did not mind!

My gosh...this is so close Kara was born April 21st. We have quite a few very tall cousins on my father's mother's side (The Poitras) some are as tall as 6'6. One became a policeman, very impressive when coming out of the car with his 6'6. My mom was not quite 5...and my dad about the same as me...We could talk all day ...isn't that funny...Hope we do it again!

Hi Sue, so nice of you to visit, thank you. That photo of my mum is actually a nice one of her. She is in a nursing home, unable to do anything for herself so we were pleased to get her home for a couple of hours to celebrate her 90th.
The Indian children were very bright and happy, until the camera appeared, then they "posed" putting on serious faces and then clamoured to see the picture and then clamoured again for more photos!!
You are obviously a great photographer and lover of nature, I loved your photos.
I lived in the States in the 70's and visited parts of Oklahoma as we toured around. I lived in Rochester Minnesota for 18 months.

Sue - thanks for your wishes and dropping by my page. We hope to open our business again in a couple of months' time (??).
Had a much better birthday in 2008 than 2007 (then it was just 5 days after the fires); just a few quiet drinks with hubby. Take care and love your great pics when they appear.

Sue - Gus loves getting new paint jobs occasionally! Rehab is going well - the arm aches most of the time, especially when weather moves through (which is most of the time right now!). It will be several months before I am able to do much of anything with it, but my range of motion is coming back, so I just have to be patient.

Hi Sue - It was so nice to have you stop by! Yes! We still have snow! We still had a foot and a half on the ground yesterday, but we woke up to rain and ice this morning. It is melting quickly as it is warming up to the 40's today. We are suppose to get snow tomorrow, but I don't know how much. My #2 son (Jeremiah) is moving today to an appartment. I am glad to see him go, but I will miss him. He works almost 60 miles from home and I have worried about him driving in this bad weather this winter. He will be living 10 minutes from work! Have a great day, Sue, and please stop by again! Oh yes, I have enjoyed your pictures today!

Wow, Sue! Thank you! Re the spiders: there are a lot of spiders in webs around the garden at the River house (probably because we're not there all the time to keep breaking them!!), & I guess I am fascinated by them a bit! They work very had making those webs then some human or animal walks through them or a bird flies through or the wind destroys them so they have to start again! it' a very hard way to get your dinner! Had a beautiful web out side here (home), early one morning last week, glistening with rain drops, but when I got back out with my camera it was all broken!

Sue thanks for dropping by my page. I love all your photos and I think you enjoy taking them.
Thanks also for the note about 11 September. I do not remember seeing it come up and also I think Linda must have submitted that one. The other interesting thing was the comments as there must have been a photo of the Pasha Bulker (ship which went aground) there originally.

Hi Sue, yes I did go back through the archives and found lots of photos that didn't match the comments, I even made a list. The most annoying thing was that a number of my photos which I thought were pretty good appeared only in the archives as substitutes for repeats - so they were never seen by the people I respect.
I think the mistake Gath made was to substitute new photos wherever he found duplicates, this left the anomaly you have described. What I think he should have done was delete the duplicate, not the original.
But since the 'great crash' a lot of really old photos have turned up on the pages and I have resisted the urge to tell Gath knowing that he was having serious problems with the ISP.
Also, the old ISP refused to return many of the photos, which included at least 50 of mine from our trip overseas in Aug/Sep last year. I have now submitted them again and hope that they appear soon.
Finally, Anne and I are going down to Melbourne next month and Angie is arranging for some of the 'Melbourne Mob' to meet with us. I hope that Gath will be at the party because I want to discuss some of these issues with him.
Thank you for your continuing concern. I'll let you know what transpires.

Oh, you are Sue of the many travel pictures. I can't compete with you! LOL I do enjoy your pictures.
We had a lazy vacation. We cruised from L.A. to Hawaii and back, making 5 stops over there. We had had a trying year with preparing a home to sell, buying another and then moving, so we promised ourselves a nice trip.
Thank you for asking!

Hi, Sue!
for visiting my page! I will enjoy the oatmeal choc chip cookies--good thing the 2 Cookie Monsters at my house (the 2 guys in my photo) don't come on this site, so I can enjoy them at my own leisurely pace!
Your photos are fabulous! Have you compared notes with Nal/Miami? I don't know if she still stops in on the site, but also takes marvelous nature shots!

Well done for getting so far, it is fascinating isn't it? I can lose all track of time once I start.
I am going to UK in April and am going to visit the towns where the family lived through the 1900's. All the years I lived there quite close and never knew.
I signed up to Ancestry.co.uk as that is where the family is based. I didn't sign up to Ancestry.com as for a non US resident that is expensive.
I just keep going over and over the census records. The problem here has been two fold - a family split and the fact that records are sealed for one hundred years. 1901 is the latest census available. Although I can use the census back to the beginning in 1841
My biggest problem is on my fathers side. He hailed from N.Ireland and was catholic. These records are not available, to my knowledge, through the Mormons(who run the Ancestry sites) and I don't see myself going there to troll through the church records. It is amazing that he was the 3rd of 12 children all but one of whom married and had children and I've not come across one of them doing any research!
Good luck with your research. If you have British rels. and you know the town or village they come from try CuriousFox.com where you can research by town name.

Sue, thanks for stopping by my page. The picture of June and I seems to be a bit of a mystery. It isn't mine, and she said it isn't hers! Anyway, it is fun to see -- brings back lots of memories.
What kind of camera are you using? Your photos are lovely. I have a new camera and am taking photography classes this spring.

thank you for asking about Ethan.
Ethan is doing much better and growing like a weed. he is very interactive with us all now and we get lots of smiles. still a chucker but hopefully he will grow out of that and he still gets a bit choked up with the mucous but as he gets bigger he is improving at getting rid of it.
cheers

Hi Sue, and thanks for the welcome home! The skiing was terrific, even though we got rained out one day. Conditions didn't ice up, which was lucky, and the holiday was relaxing--nothing to think about except getting down the hill, our regular four o'clock Scrabble game (with tea) and where to eat dinner. Bliss. Good to be back, and I hope you're smiling every day. To help that along, I'll leave you with a bottle of Niagara riesling to have with your dinner tonight. Cheers!
