Amazing! Can't believe you finished your page 13 all by yourself! Congrats on a unique accomplishment! You can look up Catherine on the Members list. She has not been commenting much this year. I believe that she, like Nal from Miami, is spending more time on her photography now & less on Sudoku. You will find 261 PAGES of photos on her Flickr site. Her style is very artistic & unusual, not the routine stuff we ordinary people take. You might enjoy taking a look sometime.

Mastered avatars??!!! I don't have a clue how I did this, and don't know if I could repeat it.

The reason that I haven't put up any pictures is twofold. 1... I'm technologically challenged, and 2... I don't have a digital camera.
I am VERY slow to adopt new tech., and it may be a while before I feel comfy getting one. I cannot imagine that it could take pictures better than my old Canon AE1.

Hi Jane! I'm finally back to the "quiet life" after five days with one or more of the Orlando grandchildren. Having only Asa most of the time was a piece of cake compared to keeping all 4 for 10 days like we did in March! Thank you for posting that website for making different kinds of paper. Eden (the 11 year old) was just telling me last weekend that she wished she could have pink notebook paper. I sent her the site & told her now she can make it herself!! Hi to Jaime, your "nine year old" - ha ha!

Hi Jane. Thanks for the printable paper website, which I've saved in my favourites. Even if it doesn't work out cheaper than purchased stuff, the convenience of having it on hand 24/7 is hard to beat. Only 2 days ago my 15 year old needed 2mm graph paper at 10pm. Luckily I had some but that's not always the case. The things you learn on Sudoku pages!!

Not to worry, Jane. At least I got to meet you and know that you're a great gal! When you're popular you do have a tendency of getting overwhelmed by all the attention you'd get! We're still friends and I look forward to seeing you maybe in April?

Ah, Jane, you would post something about updating the cookbook--is that any way to rub it into a gal who hasn't had a kitchen in almost six months? Just when I've remembered how to cook, it's too hot and humid to turn the oven on and we're out barbecuing on the patio again! When will the misery end? Oh, well, at least I've got my health (other than this pesky acid that's building up in my stomach--wonder why?) I've helped myself to some crabcakes and peaches--nice of you to share! Cheers!! I'll leave behind a bottle of Niagara riesling for you to have with dinner.

Hi Jane, Thank You for your message – We did have a blast and my post listed only some of the places we visited. My Aunt married an American marine after meeting him on his R&R in Oz during WWII, so she has lived there a long time now. I hope to return as soon as possible, lunch at one of your favourite restaurants sounds great. As for me being back on site, I am back to work on Monday (Arrrgghh!!) so once back there I don’t get much spare time to be a consistent poster but I will be here as much as time permits. While visiting your page (I don’t get to personal pages often) I scanned your recipe book Wow! What a great job. I saw a recipe for Key Lime Pie (Yum, I had not tasted if before this trip) I wonder if key lime juice is different to everyday lime juice I get in Oz?

THE BEST 'CHICKEN JOKE' EVER!

On the farm lived a chicken and a horse, both of whom loved to play together. One day, the horse fell into a bog and began to sink. The horse begged for the chicken to go get the farmer for help!

The chicken ran back to the farm. He searched and searched for the farmer, but to no avail, for the farmer had gone to town with the only tractor. Running around, the chicken spied the farmer's new 3 series BMW. Finding the keys inside, the chicken sped off with a length of rope, hoping he still had time to save his friend's life.

Back at the bog, the horse was surprised, but happy, to see the chicken arrive in the shiny BMW. He managed to get ahold of the rope the chicken tossed to him. After tying the other end to the rear bumper of the BMW, the chicken then drove showly forward and, with the aid of the powerful car, rescued the horse!

Happy and proud, the chicken drove the BMW back to the farmhouse, and the farmer was none of wiser when he returned.

The friendship between the two animals was cemented. Best buddies. Best pals.

A few weeks later, the chicken fell into a mud pit, and soon he, too, began to sink and cried out to the horse to save his life! The horse thought a moment, walked over and straddled the large puddle. Looking underneath, he told the chicken to grab his "thing" and he would then lift him out of the pit. The chicken got a good grip and the horse pulled him up and out, saving his life.

The moral of the story?

When you're hung like a horse, you don't need a BMW to pick up chicks.

Hi Jane - "Huli - Huli" ( pronounced Who Lee) is the Hawaiian term for cooking over a fire. (See www.grouprecipes.com/8691/hawaiian-huli-huli-pork.html)
See also http://www.slashfood.com/2006/01/23/slow-cooked-hawaiian-kalua-pig/

I lived in Hawaii for 6 years while in the Navy, and have fond memories of the "local" delicacies.

I guess the short version is huli huli chicken is rotisserie chicken...

Hey Jane, I love the opportunities to find out about (and sometimes try) regional specialities. For instance, the talk on SA5 was about Graham Crackers and I found a recipe for home-made ones that revealed a very different biscuit to what I had imagined. Crackers here are always dry, hard and savoury...hence s'mores was a difficult concept to grasp. NOW I can see the attraction!!! I have to admit though that I am more of an eater than a cook!!!!

Hi Jane, thank you for a wonderful, wonderful panorama of Paris at night. It must have been a huge challenge for the photographer to get the exposure correct under varying lighting conditions. It is a great piece of work and I thank you very much for drawing it to my attention. Lovely!

Thank you for your bithday greeting. The weather isn't cooperating - yesterday was 108°, today, my "medicare" birthday, is suppose to be 105°. Mom called this morning to sing me Happy Birthday. Last year I was in So. Cal. with her for my Birthday. Tonight, I will be working Britt & listening to Midori and the Britt Orchestra, and being Pop Corn Queen - a title I got several years ago. [Not a fun job when it is hot - sun on the back & heat from the kettle. But during classical allows time to mix with friends.] I've found the least amount of clothes I'm allowed to wear and still be presentable.

I understand about being strapped for cash. How about if I sell you the letters one at a time?

I'd like to see someone get the "L" out of Hollywood. I'm hoping it will generally improve the quality of movies being made.

Worth a shot, and at a bargain basement price.

[Act now. Quantities are limited.]

From another who faces these wild tropical storms, I know where you are right now. Hoping that you ride out this one safely, and that damage to your area is minimal. Last year we finally had a socket put in our home's switchboard so if the power lines come down in a cyclone, we can plug our big generator in and power our home (plus some neighbours'). Stay safe. Thinking of you.

Jane, I don't think anybody responded to your comment about post categories and how to control them. On each puzzle page, right under the puzzle and the bold word COMMENTS, there are check boxes for with each comment category with check marks in them. Take the check mark away in a category and you no longer see those comments. You could uncheck everything but the jokes and only see them, or whatever you want to do.
