Ah Jane...what can I say ...
Shocking news for your brother and all of your extended family. I can sort of understand him not wanting to have the scan done but who knows...it may be good news! The unknown can be so much harder to deal with.
I hope you get comfort sharing with your cyber friends and in the knowledge that we are all

Read your comments at CG's page about a friend with cancer. My MIL was just telling me she's heard about something called "4 herb tea" which could be a very good supplement for people with cancer. You can find info and sources through google.

Jane, I hope talking to a survivor gives your brother the hope and courage to help him face the coming months.
And good luck to you this weekend!

My apologies for not having said 'thank you' earlier. I am always touched by the kindness of our sudoku family. I see from the above posts that your brother has some problems. I tried to go back and find out what, but it hurts my eyes to scroll through the pages. So whatever it is, I hope that it brings with it wisdom and compassion.

on the match you won at the Top Banana comp! I bet there was some tough competition there.
It was so good to ready your post, Jane...I was thinking about you all day while working in the yard - hoping all was well for you and keeping your family in my prayers.

Hi Jane! We are heading for VA next week. I haven't made it down there all summer. We thought it would be nice to view the colors in the mountains in the Fall. We will be back in time to vote!!!! I sure hope we can work something out. It would be great to meet you. Maybe Shiela will be back by then also.

Gosh, Jane, it seems when I blink I miss so much. First, I was unaware of sniping on the site and am as miffed about it as you are. I've noticed a few strongly opinionated newcomers lately and I've been chafed by their comments but have chosen not to respond in kind. Whatever has been happening lately that caused a major rift and people abandoning ship is sad indeed. Second, I'm just gathering that your brother has serious health concerns, so somehow I've missed that too. (I rarely access the site on weekends, so maybe that's my problem). Please know that I'm here now and praying that your brother's struggles will be few and that his family will bear up with strength to support him, as I'm sure they will. You are in my thoughts--it's so hard when people we love face challenges and we feel powerless to help. If I'm expressing myself badly, let me sum up by simply saying I care.

Jane, I am so sorry to hear of your brothers illness. My husband lost a brother in 2000 to esophageal cancer. When they found his cancer he was in the last stage & he also elected to have no treatment.
Your brother is in my thoughts & prayers.

Me again, Jane. Just read the article on "children" you referenced and am so glad a few people are waking up to this crazy phenomenon.

Ah, shucks, Jane--my post was interrupted by the door bell. Thanks again for referring us to the article on "children"--I was beginning to think I was the only one who felt this way. Too, know that I'm always keeping you, your brother and his family in my most heartfelt thoughts and prayers; your journey in the coming months will be emotion-packed. I only wish I could be geographically closer to you to offer more support. Take care.

Never answered your question. Grand Junction isn't a place I've ever been, but it's not far from several places I do go every year or so. I pass Paw Paw's St. Julian's winery several times a year on trips and I sometimes drop in. Their Simply Red is a really nice wine to go with grilled burgers for a weekend cookout. Unpretentious and very yummy. Not a "fine wine," but dresses up a picnic without adding extra cost. You can also get some nice ice wines -- pear is great for the Christmas holidays.
