hi Jane, just wanted to update you on the tartan. i couldn't find the family tartan, so i settled on the cavan county tartan. my husband is the 6th generation away(or whatever the word is!)from cavan county ancestors, so i hope that counts! lol i think the 2 DILs will like the scarves. i ordered one for each of us. merry christmas. the material for the family tartan was expensive per metre and 7 yard minimum. yikes! cha-ching. i only want scarves. lol
have ordered magazine subscriptions to start for the grandkids.

JANE, thanks for the information about the fuzzy sheeets. I will take a look at the website.

I am amazed at how this microfiber blanket I bought keeps me warm. No more cold feet, no more cold knees, and I wake much less stiff in the mornings. I got the blanket at Wal mart last year, it was about $37 for a queen, and a nice solid color. NOT like the Mink throw I had before, that was not big enough to use on the bed, and was a large bright print that did not go with my decor hehehe, but it is very very warm.

This microfiber collects and contains your own body heat to keep you surounded in comfort. AND NO I do not get paid for advertising, just a satisfied customer.

and an early greeting to you Jane, Sorry, I don't have contact with sellers - we have lived in our little home for over 20 years - love the location. Forest Park is a bit north of us - famous for it's trees and when Mr. T cut some down I believe it's a high price area - but so has Naperville become - we have a lot of teardowns and these HUGE home are being built. Personally - I don't care for alot of them and I wouldn't want to clean one - but one of my friends told me: Mar, if you live in a house with all those bathrooms - you not going to be cleaning them. Yet, here I live in a house with 1 1/2 baths - a teenager who God only knows what he does in there, and a man who lives in the downstairs bathroom - yes, I would love my own bathroom -- well, in about 4 more years - anyway, both Naperville and Wheaton are wonderful locations with quick access to Chicago - both have the metra train. Naperville, was voted the best town for children several years ago - and the public library is wonderful and have been voted #1 for several years now. It's wonderful now - cool with the changing color on the trees.- I teach an artritic water class and some of the members talk about snowbirding down South - but I can't see doing that at this time of the year - I love the period between the seasons. Well, enjoy your day - the full moon was overhead last night and I have a bowling party this morning befor heading off to work - Mary

Hi Jane - Thank you for your kindness! I wish we were closer, too! I would have brought my whole band! I belong to a Mountain Band. This has been my 4th year in it. We have a lot of fun. We don't charge to play. We just like to play! We mainly play for the Senior Citizens, Nursing Homes, Town Celebrations. Oh yes, we played for the Womens Marines a few years ago. It sounds like you had a fun party. What is a little mist when you are with friends? We have a Mandolin player, a guitar player, a couple of autoharps, a gutbucket, another fiddler and my friend, Jane, plays the mountain dulcimer, fiddle, autoharp, a canjo, the washboard and spoons!

Jane,

You got an amzing time on the easy sudoku today, just barely over a minute, and you say it is ALMOST your record. What is your trick? I can't even click fast enough to fill in the squares with each number that quickly. Perhaps on tomorrow's comments you could leave a tip or two?
Thanks!

I went the other way, Jane ... wait, that doesn't sound right ... from tennis to racquetball. I had played tennis since junior high, and then women's and coed doubles (with hubby) for many years, but then I discovered soccer and moved on! Surgery and six nonweight-bearing months from an indoor soccer injury ended that endeavor, so we now stick with racquetball, kayaking, fishing, and walking/hiking. Try the racquetball and don't worry about the age thing. I will never be as good a r'ball player as I would have been at a younger age, but I still regularly compete with women many years younger. I can hold my own with some of the men, too, but they tend to throw themselves all over the court, and I don't want a serious injury at this point in my life! Besides, an air-conditioned court with perfect weather any time of year is now very appealing to me. I play a couple of gals regularly ... and am very often seduced away from the weights on other days! Let me know if you give it a try! :)

Jane, for the great idea of a bowl of nickels. In my case I will use Australian 5c pieces, of which I have a huge jar full. Halloween isn't such a big celebration in Australia but we do get trick or treaters. What is good about a handful of small coins is that the small kids will think they're rich and the big kids (teenagers), who arrive later in the night, noisy, confronting and expecting huge amounts of goodies will go away and not bother next year!

Jane this is a continuation of my post on Easy:

The nearest Trader Joes is 200 miles (Eugene) away for me. It is the one thing I really miss not having here. I shoped Trader Joes, when they only had 3 stores before it was even named Trader Joes. At one time my husband & I inquired about opening a franchise store in Santa Barbara - no franchises (privately owned) - that was over 25 years ago. They have stores all over except in So. Oregon.

Since I no longer have one 1/2 mi away - when I do get to Trader Joes the bill is generally over $100 (well over) as I stock up.

When I went up to console my cousins wife two weeks ago, I was 75 miles away from Trader Joes. So, of course I gave her some time alone (I was there for 3 days) and made the drive up to Eugene and back to her place. A 400 mile trip to Eugene, at the price of gas, makes my trips infrequent or combined with another reason to drive up there.

Hello Jane - Thanks for offering to share Twinky. I appreciate that. You know what "they" say, A friend in need, is a friend indeed. No mice in the traps yet........ What is a palm rat? Do they live in the palm trees like the palmetto bugs? We have shrew here also. They look like a mouse, but their tails are short. They are cannibals. When one is caught in a trap, the others will eat it. My husband use to throw decon in the attic, but he hasn't done it in a few years. I think he needs to do it again! Have a great week-end!

Oh Jane, that sounds like so much fun! Half of our band goes to Florida for the winter. Monday night is our last night until Spring. We have a lot of fun together.

My Dobro teacher is amazing. He plays all kinds of instruments. I hope to play it well enough this spring, to play with the band. I took it last week and just chorded. It was a new sound to the band.

My older son and daughter both have cats. I can't be around them very long. My eyes water, itch, I sneeze and blow my nose until I go home!

I will check our the web site fo the Woodbine Opry. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Here in Michigan is a Dulcimer Festival the third week of every July. People come in from all over the U.S. to join the festivities! The admission is $4 and they have different kind of workshops you can go to. (They are included in the $4.)

Did you get any effects from the Hurricane?

Jane: my SIL took care of her mother (my MIL) during the latter days of her life in Hawaii. My husband and I agreed that her estate should go to my SIL - since she was provding a home for her. My husband passed away before my MIL. I told my SIL that the only thing I wanted was the praying hands that we had given Dad. We didn't have any children and she has a son. I was surprised by the ring. SIL said MIL wanted me to have it, she had several other rings that my SIL kept.

After my FIL's death my MIL had given me a beautiful Baroque Black Pearl Dinner Ring. She said that she didn't want me to wait for her to die to have it. I took it - maybe wore it once or twice and when we were burglurized it was stolen along with my other jewelry - long before she died.

Hi Jane. Just curious--when did you live in Bucks County, PA? My parents were there for several years--mother much longer after daddy died. They lived in Chalfont. My aunt ives in Doylestown which is where my grandmother lived when I was a child (her house is now an Urologist's office). Many happy memories of my grandmother's home. Sorry to be so nosy. Though I enjoyed the area to visit, wouldn't want to live there.
Just for fun, and because it's not that hard to make, I've brought you a Shoo-Fly pie to enjoy.

Jane - are you sure that the date of Chippendales opening was 79 not 69?

Yes it was only once; I figured I had better at home.

In the '80's I did hire a stripper for my boss's birthday. She was dressed as a cop. I figured he deserved it, since when he interviewed me for the job he was wearing a tie with phallic symbols. I just ignored it. However later another girl and I gave him a hard time - ending up with the stripper at a famous restaurant in LA.

BTW - my husband worked for the same corporation and knew my boss and knew about the stripper.

JANE, thank you so much for the pumpkin cheesecake recipe. I am honored you will share an original recipe! I have sent it off to my sister for the "counts", she has a program that can do that. Would you like to see the counts once she does this? whenever she gets around to it. SHE is doing the majority of the cooking for tomorrow, well, there will be 7 of her family and only 2 of us, so she said I did not have to bring much. I am like you, ran out of things to cook already but enjoying it.

I may try reducing fat even further, and use all fat free C cheese and egg substitute or egg whites. I do that lots in baking without much change of taste and texture, we shall see how it turns out.
