for stoping by with Turkey Day wishes - it was indeed great day. The pilgrims spent 3 days on that first Thanksgiving celebrating.

Hey Jane, yes please to that chicken cinnamon recipe. Love your xmas tree on the beach. One year we took the kids to have breakfast on the beach on xmas morning and I was stunned at the number of people with the same idea. All picnicking on gourmet foods with champers and oj. Its a great idea

Gday Jane, just passing, thought I'd drop in! It's been a while since I was last here so I took a look at your photos. Loved the Chrissy tree...spose that means I'd better start making plans then! Sounds like it will be a quiet one for us this year, my favourite kind. Just us, the kids and their partners for lunch. My son is not sure what they are doing but there is no pressure to attend our gathering if his girlfriend's family have a biggy planned. I don't believe in adding stress to an already stressful time, plus they would have to travel from the other side of the city and I'm not keen on them being on the road that day.
Anyhoo, you have yourselves a very Merry Christmas just in case I don't catch up with you closer to the time,
Gail

Hello Jane, sorry for responding so late but things really got hectic for last couple of months. Got so involved in settling my younger daughter that I was in virtual spin and picture was quite hazy. It seems to be getting clearer now and hopefully she will be settled soon. Thanx for your kind words. You are right that there will be no more strife if everyone gets on the path of peace and happiness. Actully spiritually and religiously it is always that only but for materialistically and worldly wise leaders it is more towards strife. Lets hope the balance will be maintained for the time being and tilts more towards the first part in future. Will be in touch. thanx and take care.

Hey Jane - good aren't they?! We bought the crocs like that in Phuket/Thailand for next to nothing, I bought my daughter similar in lime green. Not sure if she was too happy with them. I haven't got an original pair of Crocs - just knock-offs, but they are so practical. Some of my closest girlfriends and I have decided to go away each year - we've done 2 holidays away so far, and the plan is to colour coordinate our crocs for each trip...last year was a ghastly orange, this year was blue, difficult when foot sizes range between 5 and 11! With a bit of bling and imagination you can transform them from weird and trashy to chic and flashy...well in my mind you can...
Love the xmas beach pic - and so very pleased to see that you are part of the croc brigade...have a lovely week...x

bought them like that Jane - they had gorgeous colours - couldn't find my size in the floral purple ones...the green ones i bought for Bec were also floral. I saw that Angie mentioned the lace-up ones, they're in the shops...my friend jogs in her crocs on the beach! You wouldn't believe how many people I've converted to them once saying "you wouldn't find me dead in them..." ...they have seen the light...

Jane, you can remedy your lamp problem yourself if you will. Go to WalMart or the hardware store and purchase a three-way socket/switch for lamps. Take the lamp that is the right size that you like to another room in the house where the light is good. You will need a slotted screw driver, a phillip's-head screw driver, and a pair of pliers. Smallish screw drivers are best for this task. Make sure the lamp is UNPLUGGED. (Most important direction: Check one more time to see that the lamp is unplugged.) Remove the shade and bulb. Take the new switch out of the packaging and compare it to the one on the lamp. The three-way will have a turn switch while the one-way may have a push switch, but other than that they should be just about identical. Look carefully at the new switch. What you have is a brass bowl with a threaded hole in the bottom of it. On top is a brass cylinder with a light bulb socket in the top of it. Where the cylinder and bowl meet is a slot where the stem sticks out. Gently twist and prise them apart. Inside are two phillip's-head screws, one on each side. Study this for a moment. Now, make sure the lamp is not plugged in. Your old switch is affixed to the lamp by the threaded hole in its bottom as if it were a nut on a bolt. Turn the switch to unscrew it from the base. The harp (lyre) will turn, too. When it comes loose take just enough slack in the cord to let the lyre fall to the side but not to lay down flat. Prise the two parts of the switch apart. Notice how the cord comes up through the hollow screw on the base, through the hole in the lyre, through the threaded hole in the bowl, is possibly knotted, and is then split and stripped and affixed to the switch by the two phillip's-head screws. Note the cardboard cylinders, too. Look at how the cord is attached at the phillip's-head screws. The bare wire end is wrapped around the shaft of the screw and the head is holding it to the switch. See how neat it is with no little wires sticking out. When you finish, this is how it will look. Loosen, but not remove, the phillip's-head screws. Gently pull the cord free of the screws. If it is knotted, untie the knot. Pull the old bowl off the cord. Run the bare ends of the cord up through the threaded hole in the bottom of the new bowl. Knot if knotted before, just like it was. Is the cardboard in place? Loosen the two phillip's-head screws but do not remove. Make sure the bare ends are still twisted tightly. Hook a bare end around the shaft of the phillip's-head and tighten the screw to hold the wire snugly to the inside of the switch. No bare wire is sticking out. Do the same on the other side. Reseat the switch in the cardboard sleeve and bowl so that the thumb switch is in its slot as before and the switch is down in the bowl. Put the socket cylinder back on and align for the thumb switch. Press the top cylinder into the bowl so that they will hold together. If they do not, gently crimp with

the pliers. From the bottom of the base gently pull the slack from the cord as you move the switch into position to screw it back onto the base bolt. If you yank too hard you can pull the bare ends from the phillip's-head terminals and get electrocuted later. Holding the harp upright, put the threaded hole on the base bolt and turn until the harp isn't wobbly and it all feels snug. Put a bulb in, plug it in and see if it works. It should work just fine. Now figure up how much time and money you have saved, not to mention what a small ecological footprint you have left. You can feel satisfied, but don't gloat. That's not pretty in any light.

Whew!!! I was just concerned, Jane, that no one at your house knew how to change a simple switch. That's why I went on so long. If your mood light is on a separate switch, you have no problem with changing the top switch. If not, you'll need a pro just to get the part. Good luck.

Jane just read your post that you are going to be in Colorado in February. So are we.

When are you going. We will be there the first week of February in Pregusa Springs. (Spelt that wrong. Anyway it is a graduation gift from my parents, though they will be joining us.

Hope you enjoy your self.

Hi Jane,
We did something similar with tennis: it was a 20c fine if you served a double fault and a 10c fine if you failed to return your opponent's serve. It doesn't take long for the cash to mount up!

Oh Jane so close yet so far away.

We also leave on the 2nd and return on the 9th. A car trip of 4 adults and a toddler. Need I tell you how much I am looking forward to a two day drive there and back.

I have been out of Texas 3 times and the only skiing I know how to do is water ski and generally I am checking the line inside the boat.

When my parents first gave me the gift I looked the place up and it seems there are Indian resorts around that we can visit other than that I know nothing about it.

Hope you enjoy your trip.

Jane, sorry to hear about your toe - I broke my little toe last year and found Croc shoes to be the perfect shoe to wear - after I got out of my tennis shoe with the side cut out. It was about 5 months before I stopped looking at it. Take care and I hope you heal quickly. Mary
