I feel I am very lucky to live in such a beautiful place as Albany so I have a good subject to take photos of.

Hi Gail,
Haven't visited sudoku for quite some time. I thought I'd have more time in retirement, but it seems not. I posted a message to Billy, got one back and we both went into the chatroom at the same time. It was weird. I thought I'd drop in to visit a few more of the old crowd and say "hi". Hope everything is going well for you. Will try to "pop in" more often.

Hi Gail! We will see you at the Blue Train for lunch - barring unforeseen circumstances. (I intend to keep my eyes closed so they stay unforeseen) ;) My parents situation seems to be settled for the moment, so I won't need to feel guilty either. I'm really looking forward to this! - I don't have to cook!! :)

Gail, thanks so much for your warm thoughts. Hard to believe it's been a year since Mom's been gone. We're having a Mass said for her tomorrow morning, then I think I'll just spend a quiet day organizing family photos that have been sitting in a box. Nice to have time to go over special memories. Thanks for being such a caring friend!

Hi Gail! I feel so accomplished that I finally actually got the avatar created - thanks to Angie from Melborne's instructions on the Forum page! Where did you see it? I was so surprised to get your message a moment ago - now I must try out message sending to see it myself! Perhaps I can actually submit some photos to Gath in the near future as well (I am a bit of a techno-idiot, you see). I hope you have a fine day (night?) - here, on my West Virginia mountain, it is mid-morning, my closest neighbors have already dropped by for breakfast in my garden (two deer who were raised just in front of my house, but graciously allow me to live here), and the fog is lifting from my small meadow in the ravine below my home. It is chilly, very Fall-like - as it should be - and will be a lovely day!

Gail,
Thank you for the thoughts whilst Laura was in Hospital. We are home now. She is experiencing pain but nothing which panadol can not fix.

Just have to make sure that she drinks plenty especially if the weather turns hot.

Hello there, Gail, my friend! Mom's Mass was lovely and it was a peaceful way to begin the day. I spent a quiet day, just reading then finally forced myself to begin sorting through family photos. I held up pretty well, if I may say so; I found it much harder on the 24th, which was my last real "normal" day with Mom, before the second stroke hit. So onward I go, with wonderful memories of a special lady who gave me so much. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts--you're such a great pal. Browsed through your photo gallery and I'm a huge fan of the cats, cat lover that I am. Hope things are going beautifully with you and that you're always surrounded by people you love!

Hi Gail! Thanks for your message - I gave Rob the news that he would be the only man at the get-together. He may join us for the eating, then head off to do manly stuff (shopping!), or he may be beguiled to stay and enjoy the female company, but he will definitely make an appearance.
By the way - my daughter (cheeky brat!) asked if we have to wear numbers and sit in tables of nine! :)

Oh dear Gail! If I want tiaras and feather boas I'll probably have to borrow them from Laura (the cheeky one) - I'm sure she has a few stashed away! Probably picked them up at bargain prices too - that girl sure knows how to shop! :)

Hi Gail,

Thanks for looking through my pics - you did mean fun and not someone named fin, didn't you?

The scary thing is that I haven't even started with the wattles, pea flowers or banksias yet!

Hi Gail - I love the native plants in WA (you wouldn't guess, would ya?)- the trick is to walk slowly and look carefully as many of them are rather tiny. You definitely cannot see much from a car or bus window. I have been doing a lot more walking this year and have seen so much! (maybe I am just getting older and walk slower)

Afterwards Rob and I did the tourist thing and went up the Eureka Tower - had a fantastic view of Melbourne, very pretty on a sunny day. Now we're all tuckered out - early to bed tonight! :)

Hi Gail: Next time you go to my page, look for the dragonfly shot, the one with the name "I owe big thanks to this little fellow", click on it and look at the shot under the LOONG explanation to the shot. You will see a road and a tawny speck on the left hand side - that, my dear friend, is all I was able to get. But I will continue trying until I get a good shot, or the panther a good meal

Hi Gail, Celia's infection is causing her lots of frustration. She had to go into a single side ward, so saw very few people, last night at 11pm they transferred her to another hospital (back to the one near me) into an isolation ward. This was very frustrating for her as she was set to be transferred at 6pm, the hospital phoned me at 5pm to tell me what was happening and then phoned again at 10pm.

Gail, how lovely to hear from you again. Anne and I seem to have survived our trip up north without any serious disagreements. We had a ball, particularly at Broni's where we met a who;e lot of the Brissy Sudoku mob. Broni was very kind and generous with her hospitality and took us for a drive around the spectacular Brisbane bayside suburbs the day after her party.
I see my cardiologist today for a verdict on my recovery from the recent surgery.

Gail How nice of you to think of me. After the hassle of the kitchen I lost 15 pounds, that was enough to get all my meds of kilter. My eye doctor saw what was happening and now my primary care doctor is trying to get things back on course. I read the posts today for the first time in ages.

Yes! Traveling again! I am VERY lucky!
(I haven't been anywhere overnight for almost two years since my cat being diagnosed with diabetes... so this was a sanity saver! Cat's doing fine... hubby learned to give injections! Neighbour did, too. Hubby got to go with me on the trip to Wales!)

Gail, good to hear you're feeling better . There are some really nasty bugs going around at the moment - take it easy for a while! We've just spent the weekend with my parents - not a whole lot of fun ... so glad to be home again, but feeling exhausted. Going to relax now - watching Australian Idol - some great mindless entertainment! I'm a sucker for talent shows. :)

Just dropping in to say Hi and Thanks for the note. I really enjoy this time of year -- the colors really came out this weekend and its been warm out, I also love the full Moon, so I walked at dusk yesterday just to enjoy the moon. I can still ride my bike on Monday morning but Wednesday it's to dark out when I get out of my class, so have to adjust my exercise schedule once again. I hope you are enjoying your season change. thanks again, Mary

Hey, Gail, I enjoyed looking at your photos but, as usual, my computer goes into a snit and starts simply exhibiting question marks for a lot of the pix. But I got to see Nibbles, and all those fungi! You have a passion for these characters? I tend to take photos of them myself, so was charmed to look at yours. I have a species in my back yard in late autumn that is red, white and blue - haven't identified it as yet, it's so weird. And a spring one that looks like a basic mushroom, then opens out like a seriously ugly flower and turns black - rather revolting, but fascinating to watch it change! My favorites are the "British Soldiers" I photographed once when I lived in Connecticut - small guys in bright red, standing up proudly in a bed of moss. I love to crawl around the ground and do close-ups of tiny plants and insects (good thing I don't have close neighbors!). Did this once on a mountaintop in Switzerland, so many succulents and other tiny flowers in a square foot of ground (the other members of the botanical group did seem to feel I was a little odd, I admit it! But then - I am, and proud of it - I have more fun than most people!).
I am coping with a new camera (I am growing up - finally took the plunge and bought a digital camera) and having a lot of fun with it. If only I can get my photos down to reasonable size on my gallery page - I'd put more there. I've written Angie for advice and keep practicing - saw Broni had some advice that I need to try. This web-site is so much fun and keeps me good company (I live alone with my furry family and wild neighbors), so when I feel down in the mouth, I visit people's pages and enjoy thinking about everybody's lives all over the world
I understand you have been a bit under the weather - I hope you are on the mend.
Take care of yourself! Buona notte! Or probably, buon' mattina where you are!
