Thanks for thinking of me, Gail. I haven't been around much lately - much too busy with work, grandchildren (No. 3, another girl, is expected in February) etc. Town was quiet during the races this year (although they had record crowds), but we still we found an excuse not to be around, though my hubbie likes to watch it on TV. My eldest son always manages to find a volunteer job that gets him in for the weekend, as he is a motorsport lover.

Hey Gail,

Thanks for the birhtday greetings.
After a very quiet birthday last Sunday, I've been out bush beyond the call of internet and email this week. I arrived home tonight to several belated birthday messages emailed by friends.

It's been a great week. Apart from More...

teaching and travelling dusty roads - I've travelled a bit over 1.000 kms this week - I've been digging for yams, made johnny cakes to eat with magpie goose and wild duck (and yam)all roasted on the coals with us sitting on the ground by a great little creek in which I swam with "a mob" of excited kids.

Last night I went trudging in billabong mud collecting lily pods (yummy nuts in them). Tonight I am back in Darwin, have had a swim in the pool, went to the supermarket for my food and have the internet for communication. Talk about 2 different worlds.

I checked out your photos and saw your cats. You may remember the campaign which I participated in to get rid of cats. Well, God has a sense of humour. After several years of being single, I have over the past year developed a new friendship. He loves taking photos (and is very good at it) and he loves cats. He sometimes emails me cat pictures. EEK!

By the way I accidentally posted this under one of your photos first

Hi Gail,
Many thanks for the warm welcome and for dropping by my page. Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my photo's. Next time you're around, would you please stop by and have another look? I had a bit of a fo-pa and ticked all the pictures to edit them. Unfortunately, I hit delete selected instead of edit, and they disappeared! Fancy that! My apologies for the mistake after you took the time to comment on them, and please feel free to drop by anytime.

Looking forward to catching up with you around the pages.
Thanks again for making me feel welcome.

Thank you for the welcome. I haven't posted in a while. I do the puzzles every day and I've lately "found" the kids' and parents' pages, but I don't always have something to say that hasn't already been said! You're a lively bunch and I do enjoy reading the banter and jokes. Thanks again for the message and Aussie wine. Sip, sip, ahhh!

Gail, I felt like laughing too. When he arrived home that evening after the 100mile drive he thought he had just bruised the rib, but I insisted that he went to the hospital. The painkillers he would have been taking would not have helped the pain he was in. Every time he coughs/hiccups or sneezes he is in pain but it is improving now.
His step daughter Angela, being very concerned, suggested that he should try not to move the rib. She isn't the brightest person around, she didn't realise that you have no choice but to move your ribs if you want to keep breathing. She was a little embarrassed when told this

Hi Gail: I just saw your question from yesterday (I was glued to the TV the rest of the night and early morning) Yes, that is one of my shots. The bald eagle's name is Amazon. She was hurt a long time ago and now resides in a park in Athens, Georgia where my daughter lives.
Hope you liked the shot.

I picked up my son Scott at College today -- rainy drive. We stopped by to visit my Mom on the way back. She is back in rehab - working to get her strength back -- she looked good and was feeling better, A lot of her problems before -- dizzy, weaknees -- should resolve with a more regular heartbeat -- she does say she gets tired and thus has a very early bedtime. Thanks for your prayers.. Mary

Gail - thanks for your note. Unfortunately, my brother is still refusing treatment. I spent several weeks tracking down survivors and researching success rates for treatment of his specific cancer and forwarding this information on to him, but his daughters called me a couple of weeks ago to ask me to please "cease and desist" because he had definitely made up his mind to not have treatment and that I was causing him anguish. So my last-ditch effort was communicating with a priest who is a close friend of my brother to see if he can intervene. Whatever happens, my brother appears to be at peace with his decision and he is now in God's hands. Miracles can - and do - occur!

Thanks for caring!

Jane

parachuting out of a perfectly good airplane must have been a real rush for your sister -- what wild things we can do when nudged or pushed! (just to be on a TV show!) I don't know if I could take that first step without pushing!

Gail,
Thank you for the warm anniversary wishes, belated or otherwise, I count this whole year as my anniversary year with this great guy who was dumb enough to fall in love with me! But really, as men go I can only hope and pray that our daughters find someone who will treat them as well as Mark treats me. Take care and have a happy day!

Aimee :-)

I'm back - been a little busy of late. See my posts on page 2 & 3. Thanks for your concern. I did get 30 Tulips planted - only 150 to go. I love Tulips, put planting them in decomposed granite is a pain in the back. About every 6th one, there is a large rock where I want to plant & every 15 or so I find a gopher hole. I believe I'm starting to get into the area where the large roots will be obstacles. Got a late start - had wanted to start planting a month ago.

Thanks for caring.

Hi Gail. Have only had the veges in about a month.
Actually FIL planted them while we were in Geelong so they have grown quickly.
We have had very warm days and now cooler days.
Does wonders for the garden.

Dear Gail...
Thank you for your welcome!
I am overwhelmed by the friendliness of SUDOKULAND! I have actually been using the site for at least six months. If I had known what a wonderful "bunch" of new friends was awaiting me, I would've signed up LONG ago! I hope to learn how to DECORATE my page real soon and will post some photos! I live in Northam, W.A. It is about a 75 minute drive Northeast of Perth and has a populaton of around 7000. I would love to keep in touch! See you around the pages!

Hi Gail! Sorry to leave this so late, but Rob and I have finally worked out that we CAN make it to your queue of the barbie (barring unforeseen circumstances, of course, but I don't foresee any ...)
So, down to business - what would you like us to bring? You are providing the fatted calf and the roast suckling pigs, of course - is there anything disgracefully sweet and mind-blowingly decadent that you would fancy - or will I just bring my usual bowl of gruel? ;)

Hi Gail. I have pages to catch up on, and decided that this time, I'll respond to them as I read them or else I'll forget as usual. Congratulations to Chloe on being promoted to Manager!!! Way to go Chloe! If she's only been there 5 months that says a lot about her and her skills.

Hi Gail, thanks for your comments about the wedding photos. It was a wonderful day - hard to believe it was 7 weeks ago already. They are busily settling into married life now. We have another wedding in July (in Melbourne actually). I'm really hoping that my daughter doesn't think it would be a good idea to join in the wedding fun.

Hi Gail. Amber, Rena and I had a great day. I think they would like to have spent more time at the beach. If Melbourne could turn on enough sunshine for a beach visit I think they would love it.
