hi Linda, I know I'm very late (don't know if we're working on Aussie time or ours), but I wanted to stop by and wish you an absolutely incredible and . Hope you have a wonderful day with the people (and 4-legged people) you love, doing those things you love most to do.

You mentioned your husky always being the lady; is that because of her crossed feet? Is that a husky trait, because our girl does the same thing all the time.

Must have missed your birthday, an issue that I make it a point to ignore which sometimes gets me in trouble. Happy Birthday.

You may have missed it, but the wife and daughter of one of our coffee guys are in a contest for best look alike mother and daughter. I posted the information early on yesterday's and today's easy page. Sure would like to include you on the voting roster.

Really enjoyed the short visit in chat a few days ago. You obviously made it home. Safely or otherwise, I'm not sure, but glad you made it.

Hi Linda, Got the brew, Thank you. I really needed it! Come to think of it though, I don't think I had even one real malted beverage yesterday. A quart of Gatorade got me through the morning. A couple of V-tonics with / after dinner at the neighbors'. I gave him the remains of a bbq'd chicken - he made chicken 'n noodles. Pretty good deal...
You would be welcome to look at Mt. Hood from my vantage point. As for the "Pacific Northwet", I like late spring when the new growth foliage is nice & green, and it is not raining all the time.

Hi Linda I notice in one of your pics a Plainview Shirt. Is that Plainview, Minnesota? Why? Cos when I was a kid about 50+ years ago my first ever penpal was from there. We only kept in touch for a couple of years but it came back to me when I saw that 'T'.

Here is the Thistory (or Legend) of the Boo-Yah:
(This is from a retired judge in our county)

When i grew up in Chisago county (between Minneaoplis and Duluth) my folks ran a small resort and tavern on Rush Lake.I grew up on fish and wild game. some of my earliest recollections of the late 1930's were the Autumn Boo-Yahs wien the neighbors would gather to cook a soup/stew outdoors in a large cast iron caldron suspended over a log fire. I remember the stew being stirred with a caoe paddle. I was told the word Boo-Yah came from the poor villages of northern and eastern Europe and brought to America by the early immigrants, and often used as a method of common survival. The basic idea was for everyone to contribute meat (often wild game) and garden vegetables into a common stew. Thus, even the poorest families could contribute something. Of course this event was a social gathering, and I remember seeing home brew, wine, and boot-leg whiskey being passed out. (I was born just after the repeal of prohibition and most rural people were well experienced in the art of home brewing and ignoring laws pertaining to alcohol consumption). Part of the fun of consuming Boo-Yah in those days was trying to figure out just exactly what we were eating. The old folks would often tease us kids that all kinds of critters wound up in the soup; such as turtle, skunk, groundhog, wolf, polar bear, whale meat, rattlesnake, crows, road kill and a stray dog or two! (Not really, my mother would whisper to us wide-eyed kids, they were just kidding). Never the less, no two Boo-Yahs turned out the same, but everyone got to be part of the project (which was sometimes the proble...too many cooks can spoil the broth, as the old saying goes) and my father said some year's Boo-Yahs were much better than others ... depending upon how much home brew was consumed. I swear most of this is true.

Recipe for Boo-Yah

(The judge's world famous or at least famous beyond Witoka)

7 lbs of pork and 14 lbs of beef cut up, discard most of the fat.
4 stalks of celery
6 lbs of onions
15 lbs of potatoes
6 green peppers
6 lbs of carrots
3 lbs fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 large bags frozen peas
2 large bags frozen corn
3 quarts of canned tomatoes chopped up
1 box of barley
1 package wild rice

Spices: Add slowly and tast as you cook.
8 cloves of garlic
1/2 box of salt (add to tast, be careful)
peppercorns or ground pepper or chilit paste
Handful of parsley
10 bay leafs
Ham stock (commercial) or bacon and or ham rinds
Thyme, rosemary leaves and sage
Flour for thickening. Some red wine won't hurt!

Charcoal or firewood,
Serve wit hrolls and / or butter
Cook meat until tender, then add carrots, onions, celery, barley, wild rice, mushrooms. Next the frozen peas, corn, and potatoes go in last (potatoes will turn to starch if you put them in too early). The last to go in before serving is the already cooked vegetables such as canned tomatoes. Be careful not to add too much water. You can always add water before serving.
