Gday MizT, just popping in briefly to answer your question on easy last night. I think the 'Arts for Old Pharts' page is the forum page for books, concerts, etc, all things arty.
Hope this helps in your quest for finding a good book to read.

Hi MizTricia! Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I was posting on Jamie (from Aggieland)'s page and saw your math story from nursing school. That is fantastic! You should write that up and share it with as many math teachers as you can. Students should hear how math _can_ be used in the real world, and make life easier!
Hope you're having a great week!

I left you a feather and fan dishcloth that I finished knitting last week and a small plate filled with fudge that I made also. Thank you for visiting me and hope to read you again soon in your posts.

hey MizT, I haven't visited for a while..hope you are feeling fabulous. This is just a query. I read about your lovely Valentine's Day picnic and you said you had a 'poor boy grilled fish sandwich'. How does a 'poor boy' differ from a grilled fish sandwich? I've often heard the term but don't know what it means.Thanx

Thank you for your welcome. I wasn't sure how to reply directly to your message, so I thought maybe I should just post a message on your page. If I did this wrong, please let me know.

I am also in Alabama...NW corner.

I came from Oregon. I most definitely prefer it here.

Nice to meet you...uh, neighbor(?).

Dear Tricia, thank you so much for you kind message and the wonderful Rainbow River, I have copied it and will treasure it. I will also send it to my daughter in Dubai who is sad she won't see Meg on our weekly video calls any more. It has helped me to share a little of my grief with the lovely people on this site.

Golden Telephone

A man in Topeka , Kansas decided to write a book about Churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started working east from there.

Going to a very large church, he began taking
photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign, which read "Calls: $10,000 a minute."

Seeking out the pastor he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to God.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to visit churches in Seattle, Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around the United States, he found more phones, with the same sign, and the same answer from each pastor.

Finally, he arrived in Alabama. Upon entering a
Church in Tuscaloosa he saw the usual golden telephone.

But THIS time, the sign read "Calls: .35 cents."

Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor, "Brother Jones, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to God, but in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a minute. Your sign reads only .35 cents a call. Why?

The preacher, smiling benignly, replied : "Son, you're in Tuscaloosa, Alabama now, home of the University of Alabama, Crimson Tide Football, The Million Dollar Band, Bob Bomhaurers Wings, and Dreamland Ribs. You're in God's Country. It's a local call."

AMEN

Tricia,
I just visited your page, what magnificant quilts you design and make! It must be so rewarding to be able to make something so beautiful and rare with your own hands. A unique work of art with no two pieces being the same.

Also, I have to ask, what is up with the domes? Some sort of alternative housing? I would love to hear more when you get a chance.

Take care,
Aimee :-)

Hi MizT, sorry could not even post general comments last night here is the rest although have posted it on the easy page today as well..
to the bridge. His fall lasted 40 feet before the cable tightened and tore his foot off at the ankle.. He miraculously survived his fall
into the icy water and was rescued by two nearby fishermen. Bingham's foot was never located.

AND THE WINNER IS...
Zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt ( Paderborn, Germany) fed his constipated elephant 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the
plugged-up pachyderm finally got relief. Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded.
The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground where he struck his head on a rock as the elephant continued to evacuate 200 pounds
of dung on top of him. It seems to be just one of those freak accidents that proves...

Hi Tricia!
I am embarrassed to say how much time I spend looking for smilies! It's sort of a gunshot approach. I usually use Google and put the subject in the search. ie: chicken soup.
Then it's just a matter of wading through all the web sites. Luck has alot to do with it!
I'll try to find you a lady on a red mower. It may take awhile, I'm leaving for Texas tomorrow to visit my son and his family. I can play around on his computer. I'll be back on the 30th. Hopefully, I can send you something then.
Oh, as far as having appropriate smilies, when I run accross something I think I can use eventually, I save it and submit it. Gath probably thinks I'm nuts!

I know how much time smilies can take, I was making all kinds of them for a while and giving away. No need tomake a chore of looking for me, just when you are looking and working on smilies, and have a spare minute. I can do the resize and all that, just the graphic is what I am looking for.
OK, I will probably look for red riding mower and see what I can find by goggeling and see what I can turn up. If I find one first will let you know.

Next weekend my Church is having a Quilt & Bake Sale. Today all of the pews were covered with quilts. I wished I would have had my camera when I walked in, it was simply beautiful.

Ahhh, I wish you had your camera also, would have loved to see them. they are selling quilts? or it is a showing with admission going to the church. I have seen a church raffel a quilt to raise money many times , but never do a quilt show, interesting. Thanks for thinking about me when you saw the quilts.

did you think about posting that to the quilt page? Some of the other quilters might be interested in that. Huumm, I have not been over there to take a look lately, might see what is going on there.

I hasten to remark that I was not at all upset about you reposting the sad news in my message, based on Peter's E-Mail, by copy & paste. It was a good idea.
I have been mostly posting my reactions to Broni, but eventually I may get to discussing the situation on the general board. Menwhile people are posting their appreciations of Lynda on her page.

Dear MizT,
Thank you for your support while I have been ill. I never expected such a response from this site, everyone’s concern and caring has overwhelmed me. I can only say that it is the genuine people here who make this a very unique place to share our hopes, dreams, ups and downs. So thank you for being there.

Hi, MizT! The photographer was a friend of a friend, so I don't have his/her name. As I mentioned in a post yesterday, my hubby and I didn't even know a tornado had hit, and we were only a mile away! It was apparently easy to spot the tornado because it wasn't raining and, in fact, the sun was shining everywhere but where the funnel cloud was! Weird!
