Hello Kate, it was lovely to meet you and Leia yesterday, and I hope you had a wonderful birthday!! Leia certainly seemed to enjoy her swim! To see all those crowds certainly makes me realize how lucky we are with our beaches at home. Anyway it was a great day, and we will have to do it again some time.

Our eldest son is driving up from Sydney today with his girlfriend - he's at uni down there. They'll be here for 3 weeks. It is raining all along the coast today, I think, so I'm a bit worried, but I'm sure they'll be fine.

Ah well, the rain is continuing. They arrived safely. Hope your husband and daughter have a safe trip too.

there is such a place as sudokuholics anon? I didn't know, so I have been incommunicado.

We were most definitely flooded in, though not flooded out. We live 200m above sea level, so if our home floods, the whole eastern seaboard is stuffed. We couldn't go anywhere, but that is okay, as we always have a store of food on hand. We did have a 16 hour blackout on Saturday as the heavy rain on Friday night dropped trees on powerlines and the floodwaters prevented quick repair work. We played a lot of board games that day. My husband and eldest son are in the Rural Fire Service and were out all Saturday clearing bridges and hosing out flooded homes in Tyalgum and Chillingham. Yesterday we shot out to Murwillumbah and stocked up on food, because it is still raining off and on and we may have more flooding. The Tweed River has not fully subsided, the old highway is still under water in parts and we've had more heavy falls, though not for extended periods of time like Friday.

Properties have been damaged, but no lives lost... all is well :)
