G'day Kathy - Thanks very much for the birthday message last week. Sorry I'm a bit slow - you know what it's like sometimes.

Kathy, thank you so much for celebrating my birthday with me last week, I had so much fun reading all the posts.
The family went out to dinner that night, then the next day we had yet another party for my youngest daughter's 16th. I then had the pleasure of a lunch on Sunday with some of our Sudoku family who spoiled me wonderfully.
It doesn't get much better than that!

Kathy:
Thanks for your appreciation of the recent (4th May) poem.
Since then I have posted it as an item on my page - after some improvement through editing, and after illustrating it with clips.
I did that as a result of your appreciation.

Good Morning my Dear Kathy....and it is early for me, 5:40 a.m, but I couldn't sleep, had done all fb had to offer, gone to the forum for quite awhile, and did the puzzle and started reading and thought I finally had a chance to answer one of your specials...so here I am hoping ( and I do believe I am ) right!
1.fig,2.date,3.apple, 4.peach,5.nectarine,6. melon,7..pear,8.orange,9. olive,10. gourd,11. lemon,12.raisin. Since most were singular, I didn't make 9. plural although I could have, and there are lots of different melons, but only the melon part was in the sentence I think! Do I get a star today...something at least for being able to find those, type them and send them after no sleep for 22 hours and don't see any for at least 4 more if I'm lucky....allergies are going wild and I'm now on prednisone since a sinus infection has developed...looking for something to distract me and this was great...thanks for the shoulder...see you around. Stay well.

Kathy, thanks for the birthday wishes. It would be nice to forget but everyone in Sudokuland keeps reminding one of his advancing age.

Thanks for taking a look around my page and photos. The Panama Canal trip was over Christmas and was by far the best cruise we have ever taken.
I cannot take full credit for the Lenticular clouds. That came across the internet about the time Kathy from Florida sent some out. Take a look at the picture Linda from Pioneer took down in the Antarctica.

Hi Batty - thank you for wishing me a happy birthday! No fairy cake overload fortunately - an overload for Carla, an overload for Scott, but sandwiched in the middle, I take a break and give my body a rest in more ways than one - got to think bikini!!

Thanks for the anniversary wishes, Kathy! We'll be heading down to Fernandina Beach in a few days to celebrate. I was too tired last night to even cook, so we just had a salad. Anyway, what's another day or two when you've already put in 41 years?? (Ok, and now for the big confession: I had completely forgotten it was our anniversary yesterday until I got a congratulatory e-mail from a friend!!!)

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for your concern and compliments.
I am not too bad.
It's just that I can't do as many things of late.
I have been focussing on polishing the poems I have already written, and (mainly), on formatting them into collations.
I have just completed two slim volumes of mostly Sudokuland poems. They contain 31x and 37x poems respectively. I have finished them this week - and that includes printing and comb-binding them. I am more than delighted with the result. The next target is a third volume of 32x selected old poems, which will bring the total of completed and formatted poems to 100x. I have started on that enterprise. Please appreciate that the formatting process is extremely consuming of time and energy and is the main reason why I have not been postng quite so much. I want to get as much as possible done before my diabetes takes more a-hold - which I am told it will gradually do.

I just explored and came across your page. That video is stunning. If you ever get to see a short doco on the Apollo Missions Wives you will appreciate a song called 'On your own'. The astronauts had 'groupies' and many ended up divorced. One line of the song goes 'and You can be right dear - on your own' Says it all!

Thanks for your Birthday wishes. Mom flew up here for the weekend and we celebrated with a huge 10½" Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie. I have to admit it was one of my best and hope you enjoy a piece with me for breakfast/lunch.

It was 100° both days over the weekend - was suppose to go up to 106° today but is now slated for 95° today. Going to a BBQ tonight & sharing ice cold cherries.

PS check the Sudoku Cookbook for the recipe.

Hi, Kathy! I saw your note on Easy to Eve and Ouima. Where in Switzerland will you be going? Jaime and I have been there several times - Zurich, Lugano (in the Ticino lake region), Basel, Zermatt (took a great ski trip there), etc. If you'd like some hotel recommendations, I'd be glad to recommend a couple hotels that we were especially pleased with. I don't know why, but I don't remember the names of any of the restaurants we frequented. Strange. Of course, I was in my skinny mode then, so eating wasn't a huge priority!!!

I've heard the train tours in Switzerland are fabulous! I wish we'd done that. About 90% of our foreign travel was business oriented, so we had to do our sightseeing "whenever". Sometimes we'd add on a few weeks to a trip, rent a car and just explore. I loved the trips we made to visit potential clients in Europe because then we'd get Eurail passes and travel from one place to another and often had lots of time between appointments. On one trip that included Germany, we "discovered" Heidelberg, Baden Baden, Hannover (wonderful zoo) and Berlin. We didn't have business in any of those cities, but we spent a week in each between appointments. Oh, those were the days!!! Long gone, but never forgotten!
