Eve I loved those photos. I love the Rose parade and often wonder how they are built and what happens to them once the parade is over.

Hi, Eve:
I grew up in LA, so my New Year's ritual is still getting up early Jan 1 to watch the Rose Parade!

I have only seen the "DooDah" parade in person (what a hoot!), but have always watched the Rose Parade on TV. My favorite commentators were Stephanie Edwards and Bob Eubanks. It was a shame when they relegated Stephanie to the stands her last year when the weather was so bad!

It is amazing how much work goes into putting together a float, especially since the surfaces must be covered with flower/plant material...

BTW, my sis-in-law is a realtor for Coldwell Banker in La Canada! Small world, huh?

Eve, the more I learn about you, the more incredible you are! Maybe next year, I'll volunteer to help out. This year, my younger son and his family will be here and I have got to spend as much as time as I can to spoil my grandson. My first and my husband's second grandchild. I'll post pics when they get here!

Hi Eve...my name is Georgia. Thanks for the welcome. I'm a sudoku dropout of this site. I checked the archives and I first started here 12/31/05. I got so hung up on the puzzle and the posts that I found myself leaving late for work each morning. I recognize some names. Hopefully I'll figure out the little cartoons and such. Gath has added a lot. I hope to see you around. Thx again for the welcome

Eve, thank you for the birthday greeting. Somehow I'm managing to extend the celebration out for 3 days. Yesterday was the celebration on the other side of the International Date Line, today I'm expecting my husband to wait on me hand and foot, tomorrow my kids and grandkids are coming to celebrate my birthday and will stay for New Year's Eve. Yahoo!!!
Have a wonderful, wonderful new year!

Thanks for the information on the float, the effort is to be commended. Will it be judged or just paraded? Our TV stations are very parochial, we are lucky to get any overseas content, but I will keep a look out. All the very best for the coming year.

Hi Eve! Very nice of you introducing us in the Rose Parade theme. I went all around the information that follows the conections in the net. Do you participate in this? It seems to me far away from wehere you live. It is a shame that we can not see it not even in the T.V.. Enjoy your time there and have a beginnig of year 2008 full of joy.

Hi Eve.
Have thought a lot about what you said when you last dropped by. Its taken me 4 days to get the house to myself and some peace to reply to you.Hope you didn't think me rude.
'The depth of ones sense of loss is a measure/reflection of the depth of meaning they shared in your life'
At the risk of sounding 'fatalistic' I believe in living each day as if it is your last [one day you will be right].

We shared a big table at Christmas - 17. My 2 sisters and spouses, sister's inlaws from France, our kids, a nephew and neice [brothers kids] and a stray friend of my nephews who was at a loose end. Very different from our last Christmas with mum.

We are going to have a very quiet New Years Eve - I've always been one to party but this year I just want to see it in safely and peacefully with my husband, 17yo son and two dogs. This year has in many ways been MY 'annus horribilis' and I plan on setting the table, opening the best bottle in the house and celebrate life, love and peace with my family.

now on a lighter note..
I have been following your 'photo trail' on the float building - fascinating and enjoyable. I watch eagerly for postings from you to say you have added more photos. I love building and creating things and I think this would be a wonderful project to be involved with. Makes me wonder how we can have such hatred and unrest in the world when people CAN co-operate and build something like this simply for the joy of doing and participating? Crazy, isn't it?
Anyway, you enjoy and look out for 'yours' and enjoy.

me??? [for being a serial poster..?] try if you dare...
Have just read through my first posting and there was so much that I was thinking as I was writing that that I'm surprised that only bits and pieces of it came through. Need to reign in those thoughts...

Something I had wanted to say was thankyou for sharing your experiences. It always helps knowing someone understands, has experienced and survived what you are going through. I was struck by how young your husband was when he died. What a lot of loss there has been - it has been the making of a very compassionate person.

..on that note you get out and enjoy what is left of 2007 [as will I] and look forward to bigger and better happenings [or at least different] in 2008.
Ciao for now...

Eve: Thanks for dropping by with the bubbly. Sorry I was "out" at the time. It was the middle of the night here. Yes you still have time to give thanks for the Lord's righteouness. I am pretty up-to-date with that.
However there is one churchgoer living immediately above me who obviously knows nothing about it.

Hi Eve! Thanks for your new year's poetic greeting & for posting all those float pictures!! I spent a long time last night looking at all 161 of them including the captions which must have taken you hours to write. I will watch the parade tomorrow with much greater appreciation of the work that goes into those fabulous floats! Someday I hope to be able to see the Rose Parade in person, but we will only make the trip to Pasadena if & when Michigan gets enough wins to play in the Rose Bowl. Hope their new coach can earn them a bid out there in the next couple years. I hope you have a good time tonight celebrating the new year & that you will enjoy continuing good times, good friends & good health in 2008.

Eve for dropping by my new page and welcoming me (although I've been around on the Sudoku site for nearly as long as it's been in existence, but have only just become a member.) I'm afraid my guests didn't see any of your delicious pie - me and my family polished the whole thing off in around 15 minutes!
