"Too funny" is a fairly common phrase around here. I am surprised that you picked up on it. It's either because you, too, are familiar with it and are returning the banter, or else that it's a North American thing and it takes you by surprise.
Assuming the latter (though I am appreciative for the former), I'll help you understand the phrase.
The phrase "too funny" is often given here as a complimentary response to someone who has said something amusing. It comes from the phrase "that's too funny for words," and is roughly the spoken colloquial equivalent of a thumbs up "thank you" for someone's humor.
The implicit meaning is that you can't top what the person said with something even more funny, and/or that you feel you can't otherwise adequately convey your sense of amusement.
Now, did you know that already, or is this news to you?

Hi, Rayray!

I've just been catching up on recent posts since I haven't been able to spend much time on site recently. I saw the poem you posted yesterday. Brilliant! It was so real it gave me the willies! What a horror you went through! I hope it's therapeutic for you to write about your experience. In any case, we are all so glad to have you back and writing poetry again!!

Ray Ray,
I have been remiss in welcoming you back to the site...I'm so sorry for the delay...
It wasn't because I didn't miss you , but simply put...I was continually distracted...Often one means to do something and is pulled towards another as thoughts pop into our heads...
However, I am so very happy that you have received medical treatment, and are slowly regaining your strength. You have really been through the mill. May you continue to improve and once more be returned to full good health. Welcome back...Its a pleasure to once again see your comments daily. Peace

Dear Rayray,

I was saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved cat. Jaime and I have had cats all our married life which have given us much joy, and it is always sorrowful to lose them. I hope you (and/or your friends) get a replacement when the time is right. I could not imagine ever being without a furry little friend. (The last two cats found us on their own - we didn't even have to go "cat shopping").

I hope your pain is easing. It has been a rough start to the year for you. Sending you a hug and blessings dear one.

Rayray, in light of your internet problem I thought this little ditty I found in the newspaper (in an article of Texan farm poets) : "From the time you were born, till you ride in a hearse, nothing so bad that it can't get worse.

Yes, rayray, they make fillings out of mercury- laced amalgams in the US also. Ironic that the word 'mal' is hidden in that word!

Rayray, I think our minds are similarly warped! When I read Ian's average nymph post, I immediately thought the same as you posted, one enormously tall wood nymph would skew the curve and more than 50% would be below average.

It is so nice to know I am not singularly warped hehehe. Thanks for saying that much better (and in a more timely fashion) than I could have.

Rayray, I must admit my first thoughts on the matter were purely mathematical, but moved quickly to the fact there would have to be an actual gynormous wood nymph to skew the curve. Pleasantly mad minds seem capable of such flights of fancy

Rayray, You refer to my quilts as art? Thank ye kindly sir! it takes a pleasantly mad person to buy perfectly lovely and sometimes quite expensive fabric, cut it into little pieces, rearrange them and then sew them back together again, resulting in an item to keep a body warm on a cold winter's night. That same goal could have been accomplished at a fraction of the cost and none of the labor with a trip to Linens and Things white sale. .

It only takes a bit of mathematics, flights of fancy, and the ability to "listen to your quilt-in-progress". Once you start the design, the quilt will tell you which way you should go. The really good ones, I was listening. The diversity is the quilts fault.

Rayray - I loved your dandelion poem! Somehow I missed it when it was posted. I think Ian's comment was spot on when he asked if you were referring to the human condition. When you think about it, all forms of life begin in a similar fashion. Some people are fortunate enough to have a life that takes root in a strong foundation; others, alas, do not, but continue to drift about their entire lives. Well done, my friend!

Hi Rayray! I always seem to be behind in reading comments on Easy. Sometimes I never do manage to find time to read them all. Just today I found your poem about Spring & had to come & tell you how much I liked it. I'm glad you are feeling better & back to posting more often like you used to. Was it a ruptured appendix you had? When was that? I believe it may have been back when we were in SE Asia. Anyway, it's quite obvious that your mind is as good as ever even if your body suffered a defect!

Rayray - I really enjoyed your masterful poem on the universe, although it left me with a vague sense of malaise. I don't know why exactly, I guess it's because you've put into words what I've always sensed - that we are but mere mortals, cogs, if you will, in the unstoppable forces of nature. Keep them coming, good friend!
