Wantage is a town in the Vale of the White Horse, in the Thames Valley, in the county of Oxfordshire, approximately 18 miles south - south west of Oxford and 70-ish miles west of London. It is famous for being the birthplace of King Alfred the Great in about 849* and we have a statue of him in our market place.

Don't know where to post the answer to your riddle but: Is it that they all have two pairs of double letters. (assess, banana, uneven, voodoo) I don't remember the rest of the words.

Today's puzzle - put the first letter to the end of each word and read it from the back forward and it becomes the same front and back..

This paperback is very interesting but I find it will never replace a hardcover book - it makes a very poor doorstop. I couldn't remember when I had been so disappointed, except perhaps the time I found out that M&Ms really do melt in your hand... I'm two with nature.
