Hi Gail,

Thanks for the welcome wishes,

May you and your family enjoy a joyful Christmas with the traditional gifts of peace and hope (rather than tinsel and rampant consumerism which always threatens to pervade).

I always do lemon cordial for Christmas pressies. Love that home-made feel. I used to have a lemon tree in Victoria but up here we have a lime. I'm actually going to make another couple of batches today and maybe mix some lemon and lime.... so here's yours
LEMON CORDIAL
Ingredients:
Juice of 7 large lemons
Grated rind of 5 large lemons
1 kg sugar
1.5 litres of water
25g citric acid
Method:
1.In a large pan, boil up sugar, water, grated peel and citric acid.
2.Take off the heat and add juice, If preferred, this may be strained.
3.Bottle whilst still hot into clean, sterilised (in oven ) bottles

Enjoy!! fi

Gail, just stopping by with the Banff report -- fantastic! A winter wonderland, and the skiing was excellent--no crowds, but very challenging, long runs and we took one very scary route to get to the intermediate slopes, but somehow, we made it in one piece. Took a run for you at Lake Louise and had a glass of Prosecco at the bar while the horses and sleigh toured around the glacier. Sublime, I tell you. Now, I'll wish you and all those you love a very Merry Christmas and here's hoping that 2008 brings much joy, laughter and good health your way. Keep dreaming big and wait for the miracles to happen!

Thank you for the birthday greetings for my grandsons, Gail. At 14, they've both grown past their grandparents and are no longer those cute little boys that we played with just s few days ago, it seems.
I hope that you enjoy the celebration of Christmas in the company of those you love.

and Holiday greeting to you and your family - the wind is pounding the house this morning and snow is in the air. I do believe I may be ready for Christmas - my to do list is finished and my fontanini village is up and running, the North pole village has some issues with lighting - but should be an easy fix. I would also like to thank you for your thoughts and prayers for my Dad, he's now in a skilled nursing center for therapy - He very tired and quiet - but is close to my house. My son got home from college and enjoying the company. Enjoy your day and Thank you once again Mary

Gail so much.
I have 2 sisters and tomorrow we taking half of mum's ashes up to Deniliquin to join my father [he died 20 years ago - I think]. It is his birthday and I felt it fitting that mum finally join him on this day - when I'm not joking and larking about I'm very sentimental. I haven't been home to Deni since mum left over 3 years ago and I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it. Think I'd better keep to neutral territory that doesn't share a lot of connotations with mum - if there are any such places. Brothers can't make it and it is sort've nice for her daughters to take her home. She wanted the other half of her ashes to return to her birth place which we shall do on her birthday and I'm sure they will join us the.
for allowing me to bore you senseless with this personal waffle but I'm being very selfish - it has made me feel better.
I'm sorry I was in bed by the time you joined the chat room - will catch you again some other time.
Ciao for now

I did enjoy myself, and I got up the stairs just by hanging on to the railing. Nice xmas with no littles. I gave the son-in-law remote controled airplanes and they had a ball.
I remember what it was like when school was out. My sister was a teacher, and she taked me into putting the Dewey number system into the library. It took months, I even did the card catalog. Then the school system had me convert the High Schools (4 years) I quit when the girls got out ot school. If they had paid me, maybe I would have stayed.

Hi Gail, thank you for dropping in. I should not answer messages when I am half asleep as I typed the answer on my own page!!

We had a lovely Christmas and as I did not have to prepare the food it was very relaxing.

Today Sharon dropped by and started to clean up our computer room as it was becoming a museum. The old computers, printers, books etc are all ready to be disposed. I think Hubby could see Sharon was also making some work for him to finish so he kept asking when she was going home!!!.

Laura was in daycare!

I hope 2008 is a wonderful year for you and your family and hopefully we will catch up some time when we get to Melbourne

Hi Gail
No more organised than you I'm afraid. Most of the gifts given outside of the immediate family were handmade from stuff I already had, which helped in my house-bound state. I made 28 pin cushions using log cabin squares I made probably a year ago and over 20 snowflakes, bells and wreaths. I'm not sure how many of those I made as I kept having to make more as I ran out of the ones I'd done. Some candy canes, some cellophane and ribbon, a few things from Darrell Lea, and you have christmas gifts! As for Xmas messages.... oops! I only sent about a third of my Xmas cards this year. I figure I'll scan in a picture of our girls and send e-mails to those whose e-mail address I know, and send letters to others. The problem is, I don't remember who I sent cards to and who I didn't!! Another oops!

Hope you have a fun new years eve!

Hi Gail
676 messages since you joined in June ain't a bad sort of a record...Its good to get around but this busy little 'B' isn't going to try to beat your record.
Your 'cyber' hugs were very much appreciated on Thursday. from my friend and I.

In April the other half of mums ashes will be returned to her birthplace and that closes another chapter. Thank heavens for photos and memories. It seemed very strange to leave her in Deniliquin - she has been sitting with my first dogs ashes on my sisters dresser. She always said she wanted to sit on my hearth with my dog and not be buried. It seemed really strange and not quite right to leave her there but at least dad isn't alone now. The logical part of our brains was confirming how idiotic we were being but emotions are strange things.
It has been an exceedingly busy and very different sort of year for me - my 'annus horribilis'.
By far the best thing that has happened to me this year was discovering this crazy world of Sudokuland. A chance go at finishing off my husbands sudoku has become an obsession... So many wonderful, interesting people out here and you are one of them.I do look forward to catching up with you in 2008 when the frantic pace of our lives slow down.
I hope that you, hubby and family bring in the new year happily, safely and in the best possible way. We are having a quite one at home.
[that's if I don't melt taking the washing out - what a scorcher]
